A blog hoping to spread some positivity through the FE fandom! The other blog focused on this seemed to go inactive, so we're bringing it back! PS: If you're reading this from mobile, go to /submitpositivity, /ask, or /submit to confess!
I'm really happy you guys also give advice, because there's a little something that's kind of been eating at me. I've yet to join this fandom, but I've wanted to for a while. My only problem is that I'm in my mid-twenties, and from what I've noticed, there's quite a number of underage people in this fandom. In my other fandoms, there's people ranging from ages of 15 to over 30, so it's not a problem there. Would it be an issue here...? Sorry if this is silly.
No, of course itâs not an issue! There do seem to be quite a few underage people, but the majority of them are totally fine with interacting with adults⊠I also happen to know that there are more people who are of age than youâd think. I interact with a bunch of them, myself.
If it helps ease your worries, both myself and Suzukaze are somewhere in our twenties and I know several people right off the top of my head who are older than I am. We both have written with people both older and younger than us, too.
i was the last anon! and i am looking for advice, so thanks for the offer! i'm brand new to rp'ing in the fe fandom, and most of my muse is for takumi and leo (i will settle on just one when i make an account). i noticed, though, those two muses have a lot of rp blogs. should i still make one, or find another (less used) muse to play so as to not annoy people with an overly used muse?
Personally, I believe that you should play whomever you feel is the best match for you. If Takumi and Leo are the two you have the most muse for, then go for it! I doubt anyone would be annoyed. In fact, most people would likely love seeing another blog for either of them. Since theyâre popular characters, theyâre also loved, which is why so many people have chosen to write them.
However, there are plenty of amazing, less popular characters that desperately deserve more attention, particularly those outside of the two royal families. If any of them speak to you, Iâd definitely love to see your take on them as well! But itâs ultimately your decision - you write the characters that you want to write!
Admin, can I make a suggestion that other positivity blogs use in other fandoms? Can you please not post ones that say a roleplayer is the BEST of their character? It's one thing to say someone is a favorite or great, but I've seen many, many, many rp'ers deflate rapidly after a duplicate was named "the best" by others. Can you add that to the rules, please? I don't want people in this already small fandom to feel bad about their portrayals.
Not to worry, Anon. Our rules already state, âSubmissions that claim a blog is âthe best of all the _ RPersâ will also not be accepted because it may be discouraging to writers of the same muse,â and our summarized rules on the submit positivity page says, "On the same hand, please refrain from using terms such as â_ is the best RPer of their characterâ as these sorts of things can be discouraging to writers of the same muse.â
The last thing we want is to discourage people, since this blog focuses on building others up, and we have even consciously changed submissions to exclude such phrasing. However, Mod Nishiki has added an amendment to our rules clarifying the difference between stating that someone is âthe bestâ vs stating that someone is âone of the best,â as the second statement is not an absolute, and can include others.
- Mod Suzukaze
Iâd like to add that the biggest reason we choose to exclude those terms is because weâve witnessed it ourselves. For example, even I have had my confidence broken by seeing a duplicate labeled âthe bestâ on more than one occasion. Not through our own blog, obviously, but through other means. Itâs an awful feeling that I wouldnât wish on anyone. I also donât like being labeled the best, since I donât want anyone to feel bad because of me and it makes me feel a bit awkward.
However, if I see âone of the bestâ instead, I know that thereâs still countless others who are on the same level, and it makes me feel reassured. âThe bestâ or âthe best out of everyoneâ makes it seem like the person in question is being put on a pedestal, as well, and I doubt many people enjoy feeling like theyâre not equal with the rest of the fandom.
@suicunerider is an asset to the community. She's talented and good at RP. And while she does an OC, she's right there with the FE4 community, which needs more love.
Submitting @royal-botanist as one of the best damn Leo RPers ever. Nessa has great headcanons and is a great person who I just love talking to so much. And her portrayal of Leo is so spot on.
hello, i was asking if you know of anyone in the community looking for another player/partner?
Hello. If youâre looking for partners, youâre in good company. Many of the people who are mentioned on this blog are in the same situation as you are, so I would recommend that you try following and approaching some of them and see what happens. Good luck!
Hey, donât forget to show OCs some love (especially looking at you, @host-to-the-wind, @stormweavcr and @lambentlodestar)! Theyâre so willing to character develop and so down to write, even when canon character threads may be hard to come by. The muns are always so excited about their muse âchildrenâ and if youâre not interacting with some, then youâre missing out.
dropping some love for @of-invisible-ties! i haven't written with them yet but from what i can tell i think they're new in the community but they're really nice and friendly and they're doing a super great job so far!
i know @fatalimusae has gotten a shout out or two before but i wanted to add my own. ritsu has been such a blast to write with and she's super friendly to boot. im glad to see her on my dash and i just wanted to let her know she's appreciated in the fandom!
@outlawarcher has a very friendly, and nice Mun! I feel like I can talk to them about anything! Also they do an excellent job portraying Niles! I just love them!
I used to be in the FERP community a few years ago before I fell through the cracks. Some things happened and Fates was released and I was inspired to RP again so I recreated my account. The issue is, majority of the Mun's I used to RP with also stopped or I am afraid to reach out to anyone to write with them because I just feel inferior or feel like a nuisance . Would you have any advice on how to help an anxious RPer get back into the community?
First off: I totally understand. Like, 100%. Iâll put this under a read more for you because I might babble! Actually Iâm almost guaranteed to so Iâm sorry if I get off-topic or donât make sense. If anyone else has advice, you all are free to give it.
Iâll be honest, Iâm an adult with severe anxiety (among other things). Iâve dealt with it for almost half of my life. Running this blog helps with it - itâs pretty soothing to be able to situate myself in a positive environment like this. Sometimes, my anxiety gets so bad that I canât even talk to the friends I normally speak with every day. This, of course, also impairs my ability to write and interact with people on my blogs.
And yet, I still muster the courage to come back, simply because I love roleplaying. I love to write, I love my muses, I love to talk about them, and I love meeting new people who share that passion.
I used to not be able to approach anyone back when I first started on Tumblr (and this was years ago). I would stay in my corner and watch everything happen around me while I hoped someone would take notice of me and come to me. Iâll tell you right now that that is a horrible decision. I had few partners, and a lot of them became way more popular than me, just because they could handle talking to new people better than I could⊠Which I, as a teenager, was jealous of, because I really did want to write with new people, but I refused to make a move for myself. Not a good mindset to have. As I grew older, I realized that I had to start putting myself out there if I wanted results. So⊠I did.
But I will tell you that it wasnât something I learned to do overnight. I started by messaging ask memes to mutuals I saw on my dashboard - those are always a great icebreaker. Sentence starters are the best! Certain people I messaged out of character with various greetings: I often thanked them for following me, commented on how wonderful their portrayal was, or just said Iâd love to write with them sometime. Things of that nature. Eventually, I gained more confidence and was able to start talking with more of the roleplay community.
I still do this, especially the OoC messages, which are easier now thanks to Tumblrâs IM system. Theyâre polite, simple, and easy to introduce yourself with. This isnât to say you should cut and paste the same thing to everyone - be sincere! If youâre excited that someone followed you or followed you back because you love their blog just that much, then tell them - thereâs never anything bad about receiving a message like that (unless they specifically state in their rules not to do so)! Sometimes, a simple âthanks for the followâ can evolve into an endless conversation about your characters, their series, the possible relationships you can develop⊠itâs all about just taking that chance. Iâve met several of my good friends because one of us took that first step.
The important thing to remember is that roleplaying is a hobby, and you shouldnât force yourself to do anything. Pace yourself - if it seems too overwhelming, take a step back. Take a breather. Do something else that you find fun. Let your mind get used to the idea of approaching people. Itâs very easy to get overwhelmed, so proper pacing is necessary to keep yourself from getting too anxious.
If all of that sounds like itâs too hard for you (which thereâs nothing wrong with; everyone has their own comfort levels) and you want to get your name out there without approaching anyone at first, you can always post something in the âfe rpâ/âfe14 rpâ/âfire emblem rpâ/etc. tags (an introduction, if you will), and post a starter call and/or reblog sentence starters/other ask memes when you have a decent amount of interested followers. Let people check out your blog, see how you run it. Youâre almost guaranteed to find new partners that way (just make sure that your blog is old enough to show up in tags). Itâs what I did when I joined, and people jumped on it.
From my experience, the community is extremely welcoming. As someone whoâs been in it for over two years, I still remember the hospitality I was greeted with when I made my first FE blog! Iâm not sure if it was like that when you used to be here, but thereâs still plenty of super kind people. Which is why this is the community Iâve stayed in the longest. You have nothing to worry about, but I know from experience that hearing that isnât necessarily going to get you to believe it.
TL;DR: Anxiety sucks, but there are ways to work around it in terms of roleplaying. Above all else, I can guarantee that you are not a nuisance, nor are you inferior. There will be some people who wonât want to write with you, but itâs not the end of the world - for every one of them, there will be several others who do want to write with you and love the way you play your character. Everyone has a place here in this community, and we all have something in common that could make striking up a conversation easier: we all love Fire Emblem to some degree!Â
From one anxious roleplayer to another, I wish you luck, and I believe in you (and I hope this makes at least a little sense)!
@roaming-ranger is rlly good and hes got an entire world written out and a really cool chara and weapon but for something like his fe verse, i am in awe by the fluidity and ease he writes it in.
Can I just love @armsthriift? Like honestly, Rey is one of the few people in the fandom I will always love (for now and forever) and her writing style is always just so well thought out and she puts so much heart into her muses. She deserves so much love for Laslow and Maribelle and her interpretations are just breathtaking.Â
@saint-of-swords takes a wonderful approach on Mia. The mun, incidently called Mia as well, is very kind and fun to speak with, as she is always so enthusiastic about things. It is her portrayal of Mia that brings me to appreciate the character so much more. Stay beautiful~
What characters would you recommend for a first time roleplayer??
I canât speak for anything but Awakening and Fates, Iâm afraid, but I know that I personally would recommend picking up a character that doesnât necessarily get much of the spotlight. I of course love characters such as Chrom, Robin, Kamui/Corrin, Aqua/Azura, and the Hoshido and Nohr royal families, but letâs not forget that Fire Emblem games have a very large cast full of unique characters. Consider characters like Gregor, Sully, Kjelle, Brady, Benoit/Benny, Harold/Arthur, Kagero/uâthey donât have much impact on the plot itself, and there are little to no blogs for themâhowever I donât doubt that someone out there could take a character like them and expand on that which the game did not.
Of course, thatâs only a few characters from two games. Fire Emblem is a big series, and the final decision of who to play falls to you and your level of confidence, but I feel it would be interesting both for you and whoever decides to follow you if you were to pick up a less popular muse regardless of what game they may be from.
