I created a separate blog that will serve the purpose of a rally / wrc guide for people who want to get into it but don’t know where to begin :3
If you’re interested don’t hesitate to follow,
@rally-handbook !! (Reblogs appreciated, I’m putting a lot of work on this ♡)
As a video to illustrate this post, enjoy this iconic clip of Henri :)

I always forget most of my favourite drivers are dead like in my head they’re all living and still driving so it’s always a shock when I do remember that, yes, they died before I was even born
OK so ,many have saw this commercial already, but can we talk about the music playing in the background?
That was a Japanese song called 限界Lovers(限界 means "limit" ).And the lyric translations are here(I only translated the lyrics of some previous paragraphs and tried to stay true to the meaning of the original rather than the rhyme) :
Hidden deep within my chest, a burning passion— I want to chase after something. You are the No.1, that’s what I believe. Held tightly in your arms, I want to see a dream that feels real. Keep me burnin’ away, just as I desire. Pale eyes gaze far into the distance, there’s no turning back anymore. More than angels, more than devils, I crave a stimulating love . More than yesterday, more than tomorrow, I long for the sparks of today. Back to the fire, Back to the fire. Casting off the dress of lies, discarding the false self, I want to love selfishly. Wrapped in a velvet night, those restless eyes are seeking the truth. Not with words that kill, but with words spoken honestly, I’ll tell you my love right now. An angel’s face, a devil’s face, I live repeating between the two. More than gentleness, more than fierceness, I want to feel everything as it comes. I don’t wanna get down, I don’t wanna get down. Until the limit, until the very limit, I will never give up.
I mean they may just chose a random popular music at that time to use in the commercial , and only the first part of the lyrics are played. But some of the lyrics in this song are just......so Prosenna......

this “f1 is for the girlies” push to try and commodify the sport so you can be a “paddock princess” and essentially a pretty object is just repackaged misogyny. girls like CARS. girls like strategy and combustion engineering and aerodynamics and race analysis and RACING. i don’t want to be sold a lingerie set based on who my favourite f1 team is, i want a sensible and flattering team shirt that actually fits my body shape.
"You only like f1 because you wanna be a wag don’t you" bitch I’m a rally driver irl.
I’m a driver too 😭 I like CARS and RACING I’m not sitting under the Silverstone rain for 11 hours to look at the men and yearn for them I want their cars!!!!
Prosenna edit I made a few days ago :3
38 years.
I may have been born 24 years after your last Formula One Grand Prix, and 19 years after your passing, but in no ways it changes the impact you've made on my life.
Today, August 23rd 2025, not only we mourn what you could've achieved if things had been different, but we also celebrate what you did achieve. In Formula One, in Endurance, and in life.
Goodbye Didier, hope you rest easier knowing that, after all these years, you are still loved by so many.
People do not know how shy I am. I know that I do not show much of myself, I seem to be unable of explaining to others, or even to myself, what I am...
Can you believe this is the 100th post on this blog? Of course, I've reblogged a lot of stuff, especially lately, but this is still quite the impressive feat I feel like. Of course, I couldn't not celebrate it by posting yet another Didier Pironi interview from the depths of Sport-Auto's unarchived issues - this one being issue 234 from July 1981.
This one, entitled "L'appétit de vaincre" (The Appetite to Vanquish), has a bit of everything. It's got funny pictures to show your brainrotted friends. It's got interesting insight into the shitshow that was Ferrari in 1981. It's got sentences that have stuck with me so bad they're on my quote book.
This was written around the time of the 1981 Monaco GP, so you've got quite the precise time frame for it. This also means the reporter gets to gawk a little about the Haribo sponsorship Didier had and the shape it took, which involved throwing candies at kids apparently. They need to be a sponsor in F1 again, nowadays all we get are boring-ass investment firms and computer security bs. where is my funny smurf-shaped candy sponsorship.

Didier Pironi - Formula One Driver, a Big Heart, Just Like That! (1981) - full translated transcript
Below is one of my favourite little documentaries about Didier, diffused on November 15th 1981 in Sous la Loupe (literal translation: under the magnifying glass), a Swiss programme about sports that aired from 1973 to 1983.
I did the whole translation myself (bear in mind I'm just a language student, not a full time translator, so there might be some mistakes or weird wording and I apologise), since I don't know if it had already been done, and I really like this interview, so I wanted non-French speakers to be able to enjoy it as well!
Didier Pironi:
This year, I crashed during practice in Monza, and I had to take an x-ray to make sure I didn't have a broken rib. Afterwards, the doctor who took care of me, who didn't know anything about motorsports, asked me to keep the x-ray of my chest, because he'd never seen a heart so big.
So, evidently, the heart is a muscle, and we [Formula One drivers] have hearts that are used to beating fast for long periods of time. So, naturally it makes that muscle bigger, and it's the case for all Formula One drivers.
