Hello everyone, this will be my first attempt at making a fic. I'm not good at writing, but I do like storytelling. So, here we go!
What I want to do is write a prologue about Sly (and maybe the rest of the gang) meeting the Waynes via accidental universe-jumping. I mean, Sly 4 sucks, but I like the concept of time travel, and Bentley only just built it with no testing. I want to see how everyone feels about my writing.
Hope y'all like it!
Prologue: Beginings
Some years after the events with Dr. M., Sly left thievery behind, and he and Carmelita slowly built a life together. Due to Sly's theoretical amnesia, he became a constable alongside her. He enjoys his new life, but he deeply misses his brothers. His bushy striped tail sways in agitation as he speeds along the familiar Paris rooftops. His grey fur ruffles in the wind, his ears flicker at every sound that passes him. Cars honk, civilians' voices perk up every time he crosses over streets.
Whenever Carmelita is away on a case, he'd often visit them. He knew lying to her about his whereabouts while she was away was wrong; his entire amnesia cover is wrong in itself. He is lying to her to stay as her partner. The first time he did this was after a bad nightmare that ruffled his fur a bit too much to his liking. He suffers from nightmares regularly due to his parents' murder, being in Contessa's prison, and his fight with Dr. M. This nightmare, however, was different.
He was standing in this void with figures he had never seen before. What were they? They talked like him, but they didn't look human to him. Where was their fur? Their tails? What about scales? Anything?? As he watched, he suddenly started falling. As he fell, all he could see were black and random flashes of light. As he hit the ground, he saw something on top of him with a crowbar. Its face was pale and disgusting. The smile was unnatural, stretching across its cheeks. As Sly protected himself from the assault, he saw his mortal enemy above them. Why was he here!? Clockwerk laughs deeply; that deep rusty mechanical laugh causes his fur to rise. His body is on high alert to flee or fight, but he can't. As the thing raises the crowbar to swing the final blow, he screams awake.
After that nightmare, he was comforted by his partner and later fled to his brother, Bentley's, hideout. When they saw each other again, Bentley was ecstatic. He dropped the gadget he was working on and rolled his wheelchair to him with a speed Sly hasn't seen from him. They hugged for a solid 5 minutes before Bentley reluctantly pulled away. The turtle, with his thick glasses, was slightly smudged with what could be smoke or grease residue across his face and gloves. Before he could ask Sly why he was here, Murray came into the room to ask what was going on. As he did, he paused for a moment before pulling Sly into a crushing bear hug that caused an audible crack from Sly's back. Murray was still the massive, loving hippo he's always been. The only difference was what he was wearing: a soft sweater that slightly rides up his stomach along with a belt wrapped around his lower. Bentley wore a dirty lab coat with the same residue on his face.
After Sly explained why he visited, his brothers were concerned about his health. They knew Sly smoked after bad nightmares, but this kind of nightmare was highly concerning. Murray made everyone tea while Bentley continued to talk with Sly about this bizarre nightmare. He needed details of what these creatures he was describing were. After a while, they ultimately decided it was more likely due to lack of sleep and work-related stress. After this visit, he continued to do so whenever he was stressed in the future months.
After a difficult case, he and Carmelita decided to get some takeout and watch some movies. Her orange-and-cream-colored body sat on his lap, her tail curled around his, as if holding hands with another part of their body. Her long, blue hair was wrapped in a messy bun.
"Mi amor, why have you been smoking more?" Carmelita asks. Sly pauses from eating and sighs. He sets it down on the coffee table and thinks for a moment. At first, he wanted to joke about how Berkley had been giving him an attitude after the small prank he had left to avoid the question. But instead, he tells the truth. "My nightmares have been getting bad lately, even bizarre." Carmelita turns to him fully and gently pets his ears, eliciting a deep purr in return. She knew he loved having his ears touched when he was stressed, and to tease him, she'd gently pull them. His breath hitches, and he chuckles, "C'mon, mon amour, that's just being mean now." "Well, mi amor, you never smoked this much since... " she pauses awkwardly. She needed to quickly come up with a story to cover Slys' fake past, and something quickly pops up. "Your first case as my partner." Sly nods slowly, letting her believe that lie convinced him. "Makes sense, but you can't get mad at me when you've smoked as much as I do." Sly smirks. She playfully hits him, and he laughs loudly. "Ouch! Hey, no fair! You can't be mad that it's true!" He continued. Carmelita huffs and shakes her head playfully before she sighs. "Still tho, you can talk to me about these nightmares. You know this, right?" Sly nods again and gives her face a gentle kiss. "I do, Carm, but I'm too tired to talk about it. Chief's case was exhausting." He yawns. She nods, and they cuddle together.
A few weeks passed, and Sly was back at Bentley's hideout. It was storming outside, and lightning struck the sky. The room where they were relaxing was the lab that Bentley and his girlfriend, Penelope, had built together. Sly was sitting on a table with his cane in hand while Bentley was working on this top-secret project. "Sly, for the love of god, get off my table." Bentley scolds as he waves the screwdriver he was holding. Murray munches on some chips on the floor of the lab, watching happily as his brothers bicker. "C'mon, Bentley, it's not like I'm sitting on anything," Sly says smoothly. which Bentley groans with annoyance as he goes back to his project.
Sly held his cane for the first time in the few years he had put it down. It felt heavy at first, familiarizing himself with his father's cane once more. It felt odd to him as he held it close. He thought he'd never pick it up again when he decided to leave his old life behind. As he looked at the can, a sudden thought came to him. 'Would his father be proud of him as an Interpol officer?' The thought was haunting; would his father be proud? He was the last in his family line to continue the master-thief tradition. What if-
"Sly, you okay, buddy?" Murray asks nervously. Sly blinks back to the present; he didn't realize he was spiraling. "I'm okay, pal. Just thinking about the recent cases Carm and I have been working on as of late." Sly waves his paw, dismissing Murray's worry. Murray nods reluctantly while Bentley sighs under his breath. "Anyways, Bentley, what are you working on anyways? You've been working on that thing for months!" Sly pokes as he hops off the table and stands beside his brother's wheelchair. Before Bentley can answer, "A time machine!" a sudden female voice perks out in excitement. "Ah, Penelope, how have you been?" Sly asks with a grin. She hugs him tightly and laughs, "I've been good! Thanks for asking!" Her goggles and lab coat were dirty, too. Her long, thin mouse tail flickers in delight, and her big, flappy ears twitch at every sound.
"But really, a real time machine?" Sly asks curiously as he looks at the tarp-covered machine. Bentley nods and pushes his glasses up his thick nose/rhamphotheca. "Precisely! This time machine can be our ultimate breakthrough into greater possibilities! Think about it Sly, imagine the opportunities this machine can bring!" He says with a tone of glee and mischief. Murray listens in awe as Bentley further explains the machine.
Bentley, a few hours later, rolled back and looked at his masterpiece in glee. The others watch in awe as they take in the machine. It was a massive clock to summarize it, but the way the hands twitch catches Sly's attention. "Bud, why is it twitching like that?" Bentley waves his hand, "It's probably a glitch I need to fix later, but for now, we must test it!" Penelope then grabbed the machine and pulled the handles down to start it. The machine's hands spin at great speed, and lightning-like strikes of electricity flash from it. As it spins, a massive lightning bolt hits the antenna on the roof and travels through the hideout. The energy speeds through the wires and enters the machine. Then, a massive portal forms in front of it, and its gravitational pull drags them all towards it. They all tried to hold onto anything bolted to the ground, to no avail. Murray held onto a wall while catching everyone who flew passed him. As Sly reaches for Murray in order to catch him, Murray misses. Sly flies into it and screams for help. They all yell in fear as Sly fell deeper into the tunnel of blue, white, and purple.
While he fell, a sudden Deja vu hits him. This felt far too familiar to the nightmare he had a few months ago. He tries to look around, but the harsh, loud wind is far too much for him to handle. After what felt like a few long seconds, he sees a bright but dirty city below him. It smelled awful of trash, blood, and pollution. He clutches his cane close to his chest as he hits the ground of green grass, knocking him out cold.
So, im currently getting into the Batman series with the multiple robins. I got into the series because Sly and Bruce have a similar back story. I then wondered, "How would they interact with each other?" Tell me what yall think and how do you think the Wayne family would interact with Sly ^^
I would like to make a post to say thank you for the amount of attention my recent post got. I never expected so many likes just from that post alone ^^ 🥹
