Personally my hc for her full name is Raelyn Sengupta :3 Raelyn bc it sounds like raven and I think that’s funny. Sengupta bc its meaning has to do with being protected and hidden and I thought that fit her quite well.

First of all, and yes I am being pedantic here, how is it possible to even consider the entire episode torture porn. Literally the only part of the episode where I could see the label “torture porn” being relevant is the part of Sofia’s flashback that takes place in Arkham which is like…less than half the episode. I cannot imagine calling the high society events Sofia attends or her speech to her family “torture porn” in good faith. So no, episode four was not “just 1 hour of torture porn”.
Not to mention, not even the Arkham flashback is “torture porn.” What we’re shown of Sofia’s experience in Arkham is NOT gratuitous. We’re shown these things because each moment communicates the horrific treatment and violence that Sofia was subjected to while wrongly imprisoned. Nothing more, nothing less. Everything we’re shown is used to progress the episode’s plot and to help the audience understand WHY Sofia is the way she is and what exactly happened to her.
This episode is about sympathizing with the show’s female lead. In it, we’re shown the extent of the violence she faces from the misogynistic system she’s been trapped under her whole life and I find it interesting that you’re choosing to pick on this episode specifically when there are surely other moments in this series that are equally, if not more, gruesome than it. Very odd.

Ok so here I am talking about Past Robert Daly, you know the clone not the actual older one. This one was stuck in a digital world sped up for 500 years. Now I am obviously not discrediting Nanette at all, she obviously did the right thing, he was entirely abusing his ability in that moment and when he abused her physical form she had every right to kill him. But think about it, he literally spend whoever knows how long alone, a mind slave to create a video game. He is gonna be severely traumatized and want someone to have a friendship with.
Obviously this is my opinion and anyone can have the ability to think differently or even challenge my opinion. Everyone has had a different life experience so of course they are going to think differently.
Yeah I do agree. He’s traumatized and desperate for a friend and so the second Nanette shows him a single second of interest or kindness, he latches on and doesn’t know how to take no for an answer. But I personally think that’s still no excuse for what he did to Cole and frankly, it doesn’t make me like him or even sympathize with him any more than I did before- which is not at all.
Plus, the episode makes a point to have him repeat, “but I’m a nice guy, I wouldn’t do that,” and so on. There, we see how Daly turned into the cruel, violent person he was in the first part of uss callister. By telling himself that the people he was hurting deserved it, by telling himself he’s a “nice guy,” by perceiving himself as docile whilst seeing the damage and hurt he’s caused.
Just unlikable all around in my opinion.
Scrolling through the uss callister tag is pissing me off rn. Why are so many of you glazing Daly 💀
The first part of uss callister is incredibly unsubtle about the fact that he is not a good person. He gets pleasure and satisfaction out of hurting the ship’s crew in violent and terrifying ways.
Then, into infinity shows how he was, in fact, not a “good guy” no matter how much he says that he is even in the past. We literally watch him turn into the Daly we see in the first part. I cannot imagine how anybody could come away from either episode liking him. It’s ridiculous.
I’ve seen more vitriol for Ashley O, Brandy Friday, Kelly, etc. and it’s honestly like kinda pathetic? Y’all love yourselves a mediocre white man. Genuinely crazy.
