My Life Awaits

Anna is my name, don't wear it out! Okay, that was, like, so corny. Let's start over. I am Princess Anna from Arendelle and it's totally great to meet you! The gates are open and I'm psyched to talk to everyone! (Independent Anna RP/ask blog from Disney's film, Frozen. Please read 'rules' before roleplaying!)

Semi-hiatus until the 9th because I am so overwhelmed with studying and my final projects and I'm really trying to get on but it's so hard to keep focus so I'm really sorry but I will be replying and keeping everything chill as soon as everything is done with school

"Help me!"

"Princess Anna?" How odd; no, "odd" didn’t quite sum it up. Unexpected? Anomalous? No matter, the real concern was why the princess of Weselton’s former trade partner was in Weselton in the first place, why she needed help, and why, of all people, she had sought out Dominik for that help. "I…" There seemed to be no proper response, so Dominik simply waited silently for an explanation.

They would need to tell the Duke about Anna’s attacked ship without bringing Anna directly into the picture, the Duke would not take kindly to seeing his former trade partner nor to how willingly Dominik had helped her, but Fritz might question why she was not taken directly to the Duke’s office and risk outing her anyway. Maybe it would be safest to tell Fritz who she is and make him keep quiet. It sounded like a plausible plan, but Dominik felt, oddly enough, obligated to hear the princess’s thoughts first.

"It would be safest for you to stay in our room for the night. You can rest and give an account of what happened on your ship in the morning." The guards could relay the story back to the Duke without mentioning any specific witnesses, and while the man was busy gathering an impractical amount of force to deal with the problem, Dominik could figure out a way to send Anna safely back to Arendelle.

Of course, making the plan and executing it were two entirely different challenges.

"Fritz, go and fetch some dinner for our guest. It would probably be too overwhelming for her to eat in the dining hall with all of the others after the day she’s had." The shorter guard had long given up on complaining; he simply rolled his eyes and left, figuring it was, at this point, just best to get the task over with. When the man was gone, Dominik turned back to Anna. "I have a plan, but Fritz may need to know who you are for it to work."

"Oh no." Anna bit her lip and tried to imagine what this plan could possibly be. Fritz seemed like the less logical of the two and certainly more likely to let people know, on purpose or accident, of who she was. She found herself in a situation where she needed to trust Dom, but could this work out? Things had been fine up until now, she had to admit, but wasn't there a way that involved her just going back to Arendelle and laughing about this whole experience in a few weeks? Months, maybe? 

"No no no no." Anna's voice grew higher pitched. "I- I don't know I mean, do we have to? Would he snitch- erm, tell anyone? I just. I can't take people being mean to me, I really can't. Okay? Like, nope. No way."

Anna spun her braid around, her hands trembling a bit. She paused. he stayed silent for a bit before gathering herself. It wouldn't hurt to just entertain his plan, right? 

"What- what's your plan?"

"Help me!"

Dominik’s only response was to nod and grab a hold of Fritz’s arm, leading the man out of the room to give Anna privacy and shutting the door behind them. Left alone to guard the door, the two had a chance to actually discuss what was going on.

Fritz was the first to speak and, luckily, he was smart enough to keep his voice low. “So, why are we giving a stranger so much help?”

"We’re bodyguards, not monsters." Dominik’s reply was simple, brusque, but it didn’t satisfy the ever-curious younger guard.

"We don’t even know who she is! Why didn’t you just leave her at some inn to fend for herself?"

"Because the reason she’s here could directly affect Weselton. Would you like an act of piracy to go unreported, especially when we have a witness?”

"…No." It was silent for a few moments, but Fritz was never one to enjoy the quiet. "Where is she going to stay for the night?"

"In our room."

"What?! We only have two beds!"

"Then you and I will share one." As Fritz opened his mouth to protest, Dominik curtly interrupted, "don’t act like this would be the first time." At this, Fritz closed his mouth and looked away to hide the new tinge of pink that stained his face. The younger man was, unfortunately, rather susceptible to nightmares and sometimes found comfort in the warmth of Dominik’s bed rather than his own; at this point, it no longer surprised Dominik to awake and find Fritz practically on top of him, sound asleep. His friend would deny this to the end of the earth to anyone else if they learned about it, of course, but between the two it was hardly questioned.

"Fine. But she’s sleeping in your bed." The light prideful comment elicited a chuckle from Dominik and he patted his friend on the shoulder, the silence between them no longer tense as they waited for Anna to once again open the door.

Anna changed as quickly as she was able. However, between the heavy skirts and multiple unlacing required, it was no easy task. Nevertheless, she found herself in the new clothes, which were considerably lighter. In comparison to the waterlogged formal dress, this felt like nothing. She brushed through her hair with her fingers, attempting to make some semblance of normalcy and resorted to a single braid when it proved to be impossible. Anna made sense of the bundle that was her dress and underskirts before opening the door to the men. 

"Alright guys, thanks for waiting around!" Anna smiled. "It's a doozy getting into that dress and about ten times as hard to get out of it. Not that you needed to know that? Erm, whatever! Not the point. What's the plan for me until I can get out of your hair?" She directed her words to Dominik. "I'd hate to get in the way of your schedule. I'm sure I've done a bit of damage already."

Dominik actually managed a chuckle, though it was not nearly as bright as Anna’s laughter, at her expressed relief. “I sincerely doubt we have to worry about Fritz remembering who you are, the boy can hardly remember his own name sometimes.” It wasn’t uncommon for it to be necessary that Dominik remind the shorter guard of his daily tasks. “No, we should be wary of the Duke or any of his closer advisers. It’s unlikely that they would bother us in this hall, though,” he added the final note in a quick attempt at reassurance. He didn’t want to worsen the unease the princess was probably already feeling.

He watched as the ribbons lightly fell to the floor and Anna’s once neat braids fell into damp stands and, briefly, wondered what it was like to have to care for such long hair. Weselton’s guards were allowed to have their hair no longer than shoulder length at most, anything longer seemed an unnecessary burden, but the princess seemed to deal with it quite well. Wet, though, the hair seemed to be rather unpleasant, as did Anna’s clothing, and Dominik was surprised to find that he felt a bit of pity for the young woman; how long had she been shivering before she had found his help?

The word ‘cute’ brought the guard back to the present. He had no response for the comment, really, other than to mentally note how absolutely furious Fritz would have been, had he been present to hear it. The poor man tried so hard to be intimidating, trying to make up for his small stature, and hearing his relationship with Dominik called ‘cute’ of all things would embarrass him for days. It seemed that Dominik, however, did not have to try to come off as aggressive or heartless.

Anna’s comment made him smile the slightest bit, and he took a seat on the neater of the two beds before making his own comment, “no apology necessary. I suppose I should probably see your assumption as a compliment, given my job.” He heard brisk footsteps heading towards their door, he knew they belonged to his friend, and quickly added, “I was wrong to think of you as an annoyance,” before the door swung open and they were greeted by Fritz, who held a bundle of folded clothing in his arms.

A triumphant warmth shot through her and a smile bubbled up when she noticed the guard's actual personality. As intimidating as he was, Anna didn't feel so afraid anymore. He clearly had no intention of letting anyone see her for who she was, not even his friend. It was comforting to know he was on her side and the feeling of security she felt was not in vain. 

"You're welcome." She laughed, "I mean, since it's a compliment and all."

At his final comment, her eyebrows raised. So she made one citizen of Weselton neutral toward her, had she? Not much of a victory, but a victory nonetheless. Perhaps it was just the Duke who was a weasel after all. Anna briefly considered that maybe she had been so immersed in the upbeat joy of a town that is Arendelle and anything less than that seemed blasé or just plain unpleasant. She needed to go out into the actual world more often, she resolved. 

She made a small smile and thanked Fritz before grabbing the clothes from him politely. She eyed the bundle modestly and found what she would assume to be a more casual dress and other garments. These would be much lighter on her and for that she was very grateful. She felt unbelievably constricted and uncomfortable in the damp clothes, just looking at the new ones caused a small weight to be lifted.

She nodded a bit toward the open hall and set her hand on the door's handle to shut it. Before the door was shut, she inquired,

"Now if you will excuse me, gentlemen. Could one of you, or both? Either. Make sure no one comes in? That would be uncomfortable for anyone involved."

"You know me," Anna took a small bite of the pie before putting her fork down. "Healthy food is so boring." She stopped herself before using the comment ‘life’s too short’, where that would be her usual phrase of choice. She shook herself out of it and broke eye contact with Elsa, poking at her pie with the fork.

Anna made some effort to make normal conversation with Elsa, as opposed to the awful intense conversations that they’ve had in just the past few hours. There wasn’t ever going to be a right time to lighten things up, so she had to at least give it a shot.

"So…" She poked at her nearly untouched piece of pie and made eye contact with her sister. She thought of what to say, unsure of when small talk became so difficult. "How is, I mean how was school? Is the campus nice?"

Elsa shrugged. “It was alright I suppose. I liked my classes but it getting to know my classmates was hard, I guess? I don’t know.” She picked at her food absentmindedly. “I didn’t mind it at all. And I’ll miss it, but I would much rather be home than there. I’ll get my degree eventually.”

She looked up at Anna, smiling a bit. “The campus was lovely though. And the library was simply beautiful. I could have lived there had they let me,” she gushed, happy to share this information with her sister. She bit her lip. “What about you though? How has school been for you?”

Elsa felt terrible that she hardly knew her sister anymore, but she couldn’t help that. She could know her now and that’s what mattered. Their parents had separated them, yes. Even if it was for their own good. Elsa would have traded all her private school to be with her family.

"That sounds really nice, though. Um," Anna paused, racking her brain for what to say. "School's fine. I get along with a lot of people in classes. I'm not really good at sports or anything so I pretty much just go to school and come home. I don't really get awesome grades but I get by.  Your library sounds awesome! I can't say the same for ours, though. It has a narrow selection and I prefer books with pictures anyway." She giggled. She wished Elsa would have been a part of it, too. That's the one thing that would have made it perfect.

"Honestly though? I'm absolutely shocked that you aren't uber popular, Els. You're really great at, like, everything!"

Sorry I havent been on the past couple days

This little girl just got here yesterday and we've been super focused on getting everything ready for when we brought her to the house.

"It’s a nice enough place to live," Dominik had little compliments for the castle anymore, being so used to the luxurious surroundings and fine-threaded tapestries; though, when he had first arrived to work in the castle, it took around a month for him to stop staring long enough just to find his way from his room to the kitchen. That awe was now reflected in Anna’s eyes, and, noticing how she eyed the grand chandeliers and painted urns, Dominik explained, “gifts from our trade partners. We still have a few that you- A-Adrendelle, rather, sent us before the kingdom had a dispute with ours.” If Fritz had noticed the little slip up, he didn’t announce it, his eyes wandering elsewhere as they continued walking. The smaller guard still clung to his taller companion, though he had, finally, given up on glaring at their guest, choosing instead to brood in silence until they reached their destination.

The group stopped in front of a door, as grand as all of its surroundings but just the same as the doors that now lined down the hallway of the living quarters. “You can change in here.” Dominik opened the door, revealing a dark— the shades had been drawn and the fireplace was empty— room, furnished with little other than two beds (one had been made nicely, the other was left as it had been since its occupant left), a closet, and wooden bedside stands. “Fritz, go and find her some clothes.”

"Wha- where do you expect me to find women’s clothing? Unless you want me to steal from the maids!”

"I was hoping you could lend her some of yours- or have you finally given up cross-dressing?" The mordant response left Fritz with a loss of words and a bright blush to match, leaving Dominik free to, somewhat smugly, state "You know how the men are with their lovers, some woman’s clothing is bound to end up in the wash at some point. Go and have a look.”

With an indignant huff and a quick, flustered glance back at Anna, Fritz briskly turned and continued down the hallway out of sight. At least that problem is solved, Dominik shook his head at his friend’s attitude towards the situation and followed Anna into the room, shutting the door behind them. “You’ll have to excuse him, his social skills aren’t the best.” He tossed a few logs into the fireplace and lit them, instantly filling the room with a warm glow.

Anna giggled quietly, raising her hand over her lips. The tough guy thing made her feel secure in the less than welcoming town, but it was just as comforting to know that this guy knew how to crack a joke.

"No really, it's fine. I'm just glad he didn't catch on." Anna assured him with a small chuckle still remaining on her lips. "I'm sure it's kind of endearing after a while, after all. I don't mind it."

The room was spacious and pretty, complete with a fireplace. The warm permeated the air after Dom lit the fire and Anna found herself migrating closer to the heat. She pulled the ribbons out of her still damp hair and unraveled her braids. Her hair fell in messy waves and she waited for Fritz to come back with any clothes at all. The soaked dress not only weighed her down, but just felt gross. What she needed about now was warm clothes and it was reaching the point where she wouldn't mind if they were men's.

"I can tell you two are close." Anna stopped and amended, "I mean, I don't want to assume you guys are friends or whatever. I'm just saying, it's cute. Ugh. I mean." She breathed and shook her head at her own lack of social skills. "What I mean to say is-" She just dropped the effort and admitted.

"I was wrong to think you were just some big  cold-hearted brute. I'm sorry."

Tragedy of War || fetchinglyfreckled

Anna’s horse reared up at the Arendelle’s soldier approaching her and sent Anna tumbling with a final ‘thump’ on the ground. The poor horse wasn’t supposed to be in these situations. He was practically a show horse for goodness sake, she couldn’t blame him for acting out. She scrambled to her feet and tried to calm the horse down. This was a stupid mistake, she had to get out of here. The horse refused to comply with her wishes and she desperately looked at the soldiers. 

"Don’t worry about me!" Anna insisted, "Go protect your Queen!"

He didn’t budge. Of course the Queen’s ordered trumped her own. She looked down to the battlefield and some eyes were on her, some friends and more enemies. Fear stirred within her as her efforts to calm to horse grew more frantic. 

"Please, please." Anna pleaded to the horse and directed her attention to the guard. 

"Please just go, you’re freaking him out and I have to go back!" Anna cried. She wasn’t this brave. She was foolish to ever believe that was the case. Perhaps she would be safe under this man’s protection but she just wanted to go home and horseback was the quickest way to do it.This guy probably shouldn’t leave the battlefield…right? She didn’t want Elsa to die, she didn’t want to die. This war was too real now having seen the carnage. She had no doubt she’d recognize many of these men without the combat uniforms and that terrified her.

Then she saw the blood.

Despite the distance between them, her eyes caught on Elsa’s arm. It didn’t seem like a fatal wound but all Anna saw was red. She ran toward Elsa but the soldier caught her up in a strong grip before she could even reach the bottom of the hill. 

"What are you doing!?!" Anna cried out, tears stinging her eyes as she thrashed against him. "She’s hurt! She’s hurt and you’re just going to stand here and let that happen? You know what?" Anna had been yelling but her voice now mixed with sobs through gritted teeth. 

"It looks to me that everyone has been relying on her powers! Sitting back while she risks her life for you guys, hm?!" She knew she would regret those words later but she meant them with every fiber of her being in that moment. The soldier remained silent, shocked by the normally gentle princess’s words. 

"Sound about right soldier?" She growled and pushed him before starting back up the hill to go back.

Elsa was able to take a deep breathe as the ice held strong. The men slowly stood up, all looking around in wonderment. They looked to their queen in awe of what she was capable of. Elsa nodded to them, her hands shaking slightly from the fear she still felt. 

A soldier approached her. “My Queen, allow me to look at your wound.” Elsa nodded again, lifting her arm to him and hissing as the gash was stretched. The man took out some cloth and wrapped it,trying to ensure that it would not get infected. Elsa thanked him. 

Her eyes looked to her sister on the hill. “Leave Anna, go,” She urged from her spot. She watched, transfixed, only breathing again when her sister began to make her way back up. 

A loud crack drew her attention away as men broker through her ice. She immediately went back on the defensive, needing to protect her men. Elsa focused her attention and energy on the crack, sending her ice magic towards it as if she was patching a hole. 

"Have your men stand behind me," Elsa said to the soldier at her side. The man called to his men and the all ran behind her, Elsa standing in the front. "They’re going to break through, and when they do, I’m going to make the back wall fall. There are far fewer men on that side so it should be easy for us all to get away. We will not sit like ducks."

"But the soldiers! They’re be attacking." A soldier to her left argued.

Elsa’s eyes remained on the ice wall their enemies were hacking away at. “You needn’t worry about them. I can handle it.”

At that moment, the men broke through and Elsa immediately sent ice their way as her other hand waved the ice behind them to disappear. Her plan was working, her mind completely focused on what was before her, not noticing the Westleton men who caught Anna in their sights.

While most of the men were preoccupied with Elsa's powers, a few Weselton soldiers quickly made their way to the hill, overpowering the single soldier protecting Anna. They merely pushed him to the side and made their way up the hill, not too far behind the escaping princess. 

She ran up the hill and grabbed her horse. She got her bearings and was about to swing her leg over when she was pulled down harshly to the ground. Her voice rang out in what only could be called a shriek. She called for her sister like a small child would her mother, although knowing that she had to protect her men. Her head hurt from hitting the ground and her heart was racing from these men who would tower over her even if she had been standing. 

One of the soldiers had a wicked grin as they all discussed what to do. Obviously they were going to kill her, but it was a matter of if they were going to mess with their prey, if you will. They gathered around her and the man who seemed particularly pleased with himself knelt down and yanked her up by the front of her blouse and slammed her back down on the grass again. Anna's eyes barely had time to focus before he did it once more, just short of knocking her unconscious. She had bitten her cheek on the man's second go, and the metallic taste of blood filled her mouth. The other men didn't have much courage to do anything but spectate and for that, Anna felt she should be a little grateful. 

He brushed the smooth side of his sword along her jaw, his smile remaining sickeningly plastered on his face. She began hyperventilating, screaming for Elsa again, but the man just laughed. 

"Oh, shut up. I'm not going to kill you." The man groaned. Her breath caught for a brief moment and she pushed out a "....what?"

"I mean, not yet anyway." He laughed, moving the blade of the sword down to her neck. "We're going to wait until your sister shows up. Figure watching her sister die would weaken her a bit, hm? At least distract her for long enough. Word's out that your a weakness of sorts."

Anna's cries grew louder and more panicked, but the man remained unfazed. "Kind of sweet that you guys are so close. I have to say, I'm kind of jealous." He looked at each of the other men and commanded, "Hey, stop wasting space and...go tell the Queen that she's in a bit of a pickle, hm?"

Anna laughed when Elsa’s stomach decided to join in the conversation. It made her happy that, compared to earlier, everything about Elsa seemed less empty aside from her grumbling stomach. Anna swore in that moment that she’d keep it this way for as long as she could. 

Anna trailed closely behind Elsa as they descended the stairs and went to the kitchen. Kai and Gerda immediately came to their aid with their companionship. They’d been with them through everything. The press, the election, the rise to success, and now this. She hoped that nothing would change but of course it would. These sorts of things didn’t go without collateral damage, Anna knew that much. She waved the thought away and decided she’d cross that bridge when it came into view. For now, she wanted to drink in all of the affection. After all, maybe it could fill the gaping hole in her proverbial aching heart. 

"Food is a form of therapy for times like this." Gerda smiled and set the pie and some of the food other people had graciously left for them on the counter top. "Eat up." 

Anna smiled and although it was hard to look this kind woman in the eyes, she did anyway. Gerda and Kai were just trying to help. It wasn’t their fault that everything reminded Anna so much of her parents. Anna grabbed a plate, took a small piece of pie, and waited for Elsa before migrating to the table.

Kai took Elsa aside, speaking softly to her as he began to explain what would happen now. During the election, Kai had been her father’s right hand man, and he had stayed in that position up until her father’s death. Elsa listened carefully, feeling her anxiety begin to rise. She understood why Kai was telling her all of this now though. Time was running out. 

"We’ll talk about this later," Elsa replied softly, smiling at the man. He nodded. Kai and Gerda would be staying with them for a few days while the dust settled. Gerda smiled and handed Elsa a plate. She took it gratefully and put some food on it. She picked some of the casserole but her appetite was pretty much gone. 

Elsa took her usual seat at the table, frowning at the seat her father usually sat at. She looked to Anna and smiled at her. “I see you went for the sweets rather than the healthy food,” Elsa teased a little, not wanting to think about the funeral or what Kai had told her. “It’s nice to know that some things never change.”

Please let me know if I owe? I've been trying to track down any threads I haven't replied to but I don't know if I have all of them done. It won't be mean I swear, just do it do it do it
