as a recent hc, nix is both gay and demiromantic for me. idk it just seemed fitting, especially regarding how he and vin bonded back when they worked at arasaka.

idk what it is about rogue, but she feels like she'd be pansexual. <3

and while vin was already polyam, kerry's the one who actually brought it up when he notices vin and rogue becoming closer <3 vin at that time was struggling with his self esteem, reducing himself to being "just kerry's input" but kerry bringing it up was smth he didn't expect and made him more at ease in their growing relationship.

so everything fell into place, and rogue and nix were soon added into the pile. anyway that's all happy pride :3

I'm just going to say it - body hair (and beauty standards in general) is truly one of the final frontiers of women's issues in the West. Too many women just love their gilded cage too much. It shocks me how virulently women will defend it. I barely open my mouth and the "well I like how it feels. it just makes me feel cleaner. sensory issues. I do it for me. feminism is about choosing (to conform)." brigade come rushing in by the dozens.

Well I don't like how it feels. I don't feel cleaner without body hair. I don't prefer not having body hair. But who will advocate for women like me, but me? For women who do like hair removal, they are advocated for every time they step out of the house and see 99% of the female population also conforming to that standard, or when they watch a movie and see all the shaved actresses, or view an advertisment, or open a magazine, or watch a music video, or scroll through social media, or walk down the streets without receiving insults and glares for having a completely normal bodily feature.

You genuinely can't even point out that hairlessness is a man-made standard without women losing their shit and acting like they are totally immune to propaganda they've been exposed to from birth. I'm so tired.

Ahhhh thank you for the opportunity to talk about my girl! 🥹💙

I’ve talked a bit before about her signature yellow gold nail polish and how she’s been using the same brand/colour for years, but it’s one of my favourite little details about her. She shoplifted the very first bottle of it she ever owned (along with a candy bar) from a CHOOH2 filling station when she was fourteen. The brand is a well-known lower-end one that you can find in gas stations and drug stores pretty much everywhere. Why did she pick the yellow gold and not a different colour? No special reason, the decision to steal that first bottle was an impulsive one (it was her birthday and she just wanted something for herself) and she didn’t even look at the colour before she swiped it, but she liked it so much she picked up another bottle in the exact same colour when the first one ran out. Eventually it became her signature colour, though she doesn’t really think of it that way. She just likes how the yellow gold looks, even when it’s chipped (as it usually is, because she’s worked with her hands her entire life). It feels fancy and expensive, even though the brand is a cheap one; a small touch of luxury in the Badlands. 💅🏻💛

I’m also a big, big fan of her body piercings. I think they’re super hot (River agrees). One of the things I’m most excited for when I finally start playing with mods on PC is being able to give Vesper her lore accurate body piercings. She acquired all of her piercings - she has 9 in total, including her face/ears and body ones - in her teens and early twenties and loves them; like her tattoos, she’s never regretted them.

Moving away from physical details, I also love how she never gives up, never stops fighting even when everything seems hopeless and the odds are stacked against her. She’s stubborn as hell, but she wants to survive - to live! - so badly she’ll continue to struggle against her fate until the bitter end. I think that doggedness and refusal to give up hope (as well as her willingness to continue putting her trust and faith in other people) makes her the perfect foil for Johnny and his cynicism.

And since she and River and their relationship are so enmeshed together in my mind it’s hard for me to separate them, I love how well the two of them complement each other. They just fit. When I was originally creating Vesper I didn’t set out to make a character specifically for River (I thought I’d probably romance him since he looked like he might be my type, but I didn’t know who I’d end up actually shipping her with), so it was serendipitous that they turned out to be perfect for each other. They belong together.

I know he’s not real so his feelings can’t be hurt and people can do whatever they want in their own playthroughs, but it makes me sad when I see River and his romance treated like a fun temporary diversion on another V’s route to their real love interest Johnny/Takemura/whoever. The fact that River takes it so well and is understanding if V breaks up with him after they sleep together just makes it even sadder to me.

Also, not to be that person, but there’s something about the brown/indigenous man being seen as good for casual sex but not worthy of boyfriend or serious relationship material that makes me kind of uncomfortable.
