Text: Aunt Elsie is on the right. When I was just coming out I went to a dance where I saw a woman who resembled the women in my family. I introduced myself and found out she was my aunt. I hardly knew her because in our family she was rarely spoken of. It helped to learn I wasn’t the “only one” (New York, 1940s).
