Just realized, when reading the Jonathan Gray quote where Chapuys was trying to re-frame the context of Mary's missives for her...was he doing all of that after she had already fallen out with him?
Idk if I would describe it that way? More like a gradual rift...if it's Chapuys you mean, that is. If you mean Henry then yah, after their estrangement and then (nominal...as quote indicates) reconciliation and her (nominal) restoration.
