HOUSE OF THE DRAGON 3.08 - The Treasons at Tumbleton
HOUSE OF THE DRAGON (2022–) Season 1, Episode 6 | Season 3, Episode 8
“Aegon the realm’s delight” is the saddest line ever. Aegon wants to be a daughter so bad. To be coddled and gazed upon with love and affection rather than distain and fear. Rhaenyra wishes to be a son. She wants the loyalty everyone has to be unwavering. She wants to be feared and respected like a man. They are truly two sides of the same coin.
i love the direction this episode took, because it wasn't just helaena who died today.
when helaena asks rhaenyra “do you think living means just not being dead?” that is her trying to make her sister see sense. she is trying to tell her that rhaenyra, after all these losses, isn’t really living anymore.
the rhaenyra that she was died a little when visenya did, but she still had enough to carry on. and then luke died, and a part of her broke beyond repair.
when jace died, so did she.
and then, the final shot of the season—framed like she’s closing the doors upon her own crypt, because she's dead in all the ways that matter.
rhaenyra targaryen—the mother, the daughter, the wife, the friend, the sister—has perished. each one of them died, suffocated bit by bit under the weight of each successive tragedy. now, only the crown remains.
the queen is dead. long live the queen.
sometimes i agree with a post but i dont like your attitude

Steve Irwin in a Jaeger would be entertaining.
Look over there. There’s a Catergory 3 Kaiju. Biggest one yet.
Ah’m gonna wrassle with it.
#yeah but who’s his drift partner. a crocodile. just a crocodile. its not a special or humanoid croc its literally just a croc strapped in.
THIS IS THE THIRD TIME I’VE REBLOGGED THIS BUT I DON’T CARE BECAUSE IT HAS IMPROVED EVERY TIME
Croc Brain: Bite and death roll.
Steve Irwin: Bite and death roll it is mate!
“The child who is not embraced by the village will burn it down to feel its warmth.”
— African Proverb
“You remind me of a dog who has always loved his leash, but one day, when his master is away, for some reason tears it to pieces.”
Agustín Gómez Arcos, The Carnivorous Lamb
You have always approached everything terrible trustfully. You have wanted to pet every monster.
Friedrich Nietzsche
HOUSE OF THE DRAGON | Season 3, Episode 7, "The Dragon in Winter"
rhaenyra truly does only care about the people around her to the extent to which they are useful to her, since jace and luke died. baela is only as useful as moondancer. helaena was only as useful as her dreams. mysaria is as useful as validating everything rhaenyra says/does. the second any of them tried to push back, rhaenyra punished them. grounding baela. force feeding helaena. sending mysaria away.
her downfall will be her own doing.

You may not rule and remain yourself. There are choices to be made and you may, on occasion, have to turn your face away while people suffer and die. You will do things that your heart would have recoiled from before you came to the throne. I acknowledge the struggle. But I dispute that I must become what I am not. Time will tell.

"Seeing the shift in Rhaenyra's face and whole body as she sees Alicent. This breaks something in her. From this scene onward, Rhaenyra changes in a way that she doesn't even really completely understand in that moment." – Clare Kilner
