Travel With Me: Top 5 Apps for Traveling

Hi, everyone! <3 It’s Guia writing to you today! :) I LOVE to travel, so we’re starting this series called, Travel With Me. For the first installment, I’ll be sharing my top 5 travel apps with you! I use these regularly and they’ve made my life a lot easier. I hope they’ll help you too! Let’s get started! :D

Ok, I know that only shows 4 apps.. The last app I’m sharing is a photo editing app that I use regularly. But we’ll get to that later! 

1. Skyscanner

This is the app I have on my phone but you can use any flight searching app. I like this one because it sends me notifications when prices drop. It’s also good for planning because it gives the average rate of flights per month, as seen in the photo below.

I never really book flights with my phone, but this app is still handy for research when I don’t have my laptop with me. 

2. Airbnb

Ok, little fact about me. I LOVE airbnb! Yes, that much. I’ve used it 6 times already. 4 times in Europe and twice in Japan. All last year. Planning to book more trips with airbnb this year! It’s a great way to visit places, while staying within your budget. Depending on the need, I’ve booked both entire apartments/homes and private rooms. I had pleasant experiences with both. If you love traveling and talking to locals, you’d probably enjoy getting a private room in an apartment because you can interact with the host and other guests sometimes (if the place is big enough)! Ever since using airbnb, it’s my top preference for booking accommodations. Try it out for yourself and let me know what you think! 

If you want more information on how to use airbnb, choose listings, contact hosts, and all that good stuff, please let me know! I can make a post like that in the near future. :)

3. Rome2Rio

Ok, next is Rome2Rio. I love this app too. I use this A LOT. The only app I’d use more than this is Currency. We’ll get to that shortly. Back to Rome2Rio. I started using this website while planning a Europe trip for me and my mom early last year. The website is great! Check it out when you have time. It provides a lot of info, maps and you can book flights/accommodations through it too. I’ve used it to book one flight and that worked out well. I wouldn’t be afraid or hesitant to use this again to book flights. 

Let’s get back to the app now. I use this app for getting info on the best way to get from Point A to Point B. For example, Tokyo to Osaka. 

That’s a general search. It’s good because it gives you different options and provides the price and travel time for each option. If you click on an option, it gives you more info: which train to take, which subway line to ride, where to transfer, etc. You can search for more specific things too like how to get from your hotel/airbnb to Tokyo Disneyland. It’ll give you the best options and all you have to do is select which one to use. They normally have options for flights, trains, subway/metro, driving, buses, taxis, walking and bicycles sometimes, haha. I rely on this app/wesbite a lot when I travel. If you’re visiting multiple cities, you can add each city to your trip to get a rough estimate on how much all the flights will cost. You can only do this on the website, though. If you want tips on how I use that website, let me too! I can make separate posts for that and airbnb. :)

4. Currency

Probably my most used travel app. Lol. It’s nice because I don’t have to think and use a calculator. All you need to do is save the currencies you want and type in the amount. Here’s an example for $100!

You can type the amount in any currency of your choice and you’ll get the conversions for each currency you have saved on your dash (? is that what you call it? someone enlighten me please, haha.)

Anyway, this is perfect for those who like to shop.. AKA ME. Haha. My family always asks me to convert prices for them now because they know I have this app. It’s really simple, easy to use and perfect for when you’re in a rush. Also, it automatically refreshes and updates conversion rates every time you open the app. You need to be connected to the internet for this, but the app works perfectly fine even when you’re not online. 

5. Polarr 

This has quickly become my favorite photo editing app. I haven’t really touched another one since getting this. It’s free (!!!) and has some pretty cool features. If you’re familiar with Adobe Lightroom, it’s like Lightroom for your phone, haha. You can even save custom filters. There’s a pro version available for $4.99. Get it if you want to! Regina and I both have it and we love it! We use this app for FIFTEEN30SEVEN and personal posts. That’s the reason this app wasn’t included in the Travel folder that’s seen in the first photo of this post. I use it too often for it to be in a folder. I keep the app under all my social media apps.

Plan With Me

Hey guys! It’s Regina :) I’m really excited about this series of posts that I’ll be doing! As you can see from the title it’s gonna be all about planning! I’ve been doing this type of thing ever since I was in 7th grade actually, when I got my first Starbucks planner. I’ve always liked using my planner sort of as a scrapbook, colorful with lots of pictures and doodles but it still had all the necessary reminders, and to do lists for errands and school. Last year I discovered that there was actually a planner community on Youtube! I was so amused with all the videos I watched and I tried out the different methods that people used (ex. stickers, washi tape, etc.) I didn’t really wanna order and purchase a ton from Etsy cause 1. I know I’m just gonna hoard all the stickers I find and 2. I kinda wanted mine to be personalized so I made all my stickers and layouts. This year I’m planning to get more than one planner (hehe) to try out different layouts and I just wanna experiment and see what type of planner works best for me!

I’m gonna start off this series by sharing with you how I made my cover page/dashboard for my Starbucks planner. I opted for the smaller one just cause the bigger planner was similar to the planner I got last year from CBTL. So let’s get started!

So this is the planner I got, it’s the Starbucks Moleskin planner!

And this is the page that I’ll be using as my dashboard :)

First I picked up a couple of materials like printed paper, washi tape and post-it notes. I laid out everything to see what would go together.

I then just cut the paper to size

Used my stamps to add a little something to my post-it notes

then I wanted to layout everything first and arranged everything until I was happy with it and started to glue, tape and decorate everything!

I decided to keep this one simple and clean cause I know as the weeks go by I’ll be adding more stuff to it and I wanna leave space for that :)

And that’s it! It’s super fun and every month you get to try something new. Learn new ways to decorate and layout your cover page and dashboard! It doesn’t have to be perfect, just have fun :D

Collection 2

For this collection, we still wanted to create wardrobe staples but add a bit of color to the mix. Some styles were carried over from Collection 1, but released in different fabrications. Other styles were designed specifically for this collection. This is something we’ll keep doing as we move forward. We’ll always have some familiar styles, while introducing new ones too!

We real eased Collection 2 in three batches. Let’s tackle them one by one! :)

Batch 1

Our signature piece released in black cotton. This one is definitely a closet staple and a best-seller!

This camisole is one of our favorite pieces, so we had to include it in this collection! We LOVE the print and weight of the fabric! :D

Introducing Kate, the first new style of this collection. A classic blouse that can be used in many ways. Perfect for work or a day out, this top can by dressed up or down! :)

Batch 2

Our favorite camisole in the blue and black version of the print above!

Kate in a lovely electric blue color! This fabric is really comfortable to wear. It’s medium weight, holds a silhouette well and has a slightly waxy finish to it. A statement piece for sure. :D

This dress is EVERYTHING. It’s the same fabric as the blouse mentioned right above. This is one of our new styles and we absolutely love it and the reaction we’re getting from you guys! We’ll release this in more fabrics and colors in the future!

Yes! We finally have trousers! This design has a paper bag waist and tapered legs. It makes anyone look great! Definitely something you can use over and over again!

Holiday

Jessie released in black again but in a more luxurious fabric that feels like suede. This is one of our FAVORITE items. It gets a lot of wear from both Guia and Regina!

We call the next few styles our “metals collection.” Keep reading and you’ll understand why.

Kate released in a lovely rose gold color. This has a matching skirt right below!

Meet Ari. Our mini skater skirt named after, you guessed it, Ariana Grande! This particular skirt in rose gold is meant to be paired with Kate, but can be used in different ways too! :)

More Ari. In metallic gray this time.

Andddd.. now in silver! Yes, we know we keep saying “this item is our favorite!” This piece is no exception and is in our top 3! You’d know that if you read the post about the Girls behind FIFTEEN30SEVEN. It’s a really fun post to read, so head on over if you haven’t already! Anyway, back to the skirt. We. LOVE. This. The fabric is more stiff so it holds the flare really nicely. We still have a few pieces left. Order one now. :D

Collection 1

For some odd reason, we’ve never made an in depth post about Collection 1 anywhere. We never really shared why we designed these pieces and why we wanted to launch FIFTEEN30SEVEN with them. We’ve talked about it a lot in person when we’ve met people. We just never got around to dedicating a post or album about it on any of our social media platforms. That changes now!

We wanted to launch FIFTEEN30SEVEN with a classic or staples collection. We designed pieces that would transcend trends and seasons. We chose fabrics that could be used all-year round in the Philippines. We wanted our first collection to be practical, wearable and comfortable without sacrificing style. That’s how each of these pieces were born. 

So.. A little confession. We’ve been calling all our clothes by their style names ever since I can remember. We didn’t release the names right away because we thought it was a bit.. corny. Lol. We came up with the names as a joke (what’s new?) because it was easier for our contractor to remember them that way. We realised not releasing this was a huge mistake on our part because no one calls our pieces by their style numbers.. even though we hoped they would. We’re fixing that and releasing the style names now to make everyone’s lives easier!

Let’s get started!

Here’s......

This piece is our signature item. It’s one of our absolute favourite things to wear. It’s a breezy cropped button down that looks good on anyone. It’s also our best and fastest selling item.

We had a few pieces of Jessie in chambray but we’re all sold out now. We keep getting requests for this! We’re on the hunt for good fabric but we haven’t found the perfect one just yet. We’ll let you know once we do! :D

Next up is...

This bell-sleeved blouse is one of our most classes items! It will never go out of style and will make anyone look chic. We’re going to release this in different fabrications in the future. Stay tuned! ;)

On to the next one, on to the next one! (Did anyone else get that Selena reference? It’s from her song Bang Bang in case you didn’t know. We LOVE singing along to that and making fun of it because the lyrics are ridiculous, HAHA. It’s all in good fun though. We love Selena!)

We have two colors for this camisole: black and lilac. Sadly, we don’t have any photos of the lilac to upload here! Will update this post once we have them. Anyway, this camisole is definitely a closet staple. The fabric is lightweight so it’s perfect for Philippine weather and your sweat won’t show through. It doesn’t stick to your skin either! Tried and tested, we promise! :)

Let’s talk about dresses now!

This dress is one of our most flattering pieces! This skater dress would look great on anyone and is perfect to wear on an everyday basis. What more can we say? :P

This tent dress is one of our favorite pieces from FIFTEEN30SEVEN. We wear this one A LOT. Again, perfect for Philippine weather, doesn’t stick to your skin.. We want all our pieces to be practical so there you go! Easy to wear this on a fun day out with friends or to run errands!

This dress is what we wear on our lazy days. Is anyone else a fan of lazy dressing? This dress is perfect for those days when you don’t wanna think about your outfit! We keep getting requests to release this in black, so we’re going to get around to that later this year! :D

And finally, on to the last piece from Collection 1..

This pair of high-waisted shorts is such a great piece to have in your closet. You can dress it up or down and use it for many, many occasions. The fabric is nice, soft and really comfortable. We also made sure that the pockets would be fully functional! Easily fits an iPhone 6 and more things. :D

Girls Behind FIFTEEN30SEVEN

We thought you’d understand FIFTEEN30SEVEN more if you knew the girls behind it. As mentioned in our brand story, Guia and Regina met in SoFA Design Institute. They had a few classes together, but didn’t start hanging out until they bonded over.. One Direction. We’re not kidding. That’s how their friendship started. Weird, but hey, it produced something pretty cool, if we do say so ourselves. Anyway, that’s how it all began. They began spending more time together and realised they made a pretty good team. They’d work together even when it wasn’t required. They found that this produced better results for them individually because they’d constantly encourage and push each other to do the best they could. And let’s be real here.. It was more fun. They’d talk about many things (normally One Direction or Dancing with the Stars), laugh over everything (literally everything) and stuff their faces, while getting the job done. 

They had their fair bit of trials too. Like losing some valuable jewellery backstage during Philippine Fashion Week. THE HORROR. They’ve never been more quiet and solemn than that incident. Somehow they managed to get through that without blaming each other. They both found the missing pieces *happy dances* and immediately started laughing again. Both girls were confident in starting a business together after going through that. And that’s how FIFTEEN30SEVEN was born! 

We did this Slam Book style, but we’ll have more info and insights from the girls on our About page soon! We’ll blog about that once it’s ready. For now, we’d like to introduce you to Guia and Regina! :)

Brand Story

Hi there! In case you’re wondering what FIFTEEN30SEVEN is, here’s a little updated breakdown for you. 

FIFTEEN30SEVEN is a brand that was created by Guia Alvendia and Regina Raymundo. Both girls graduated from SoFA Design Institute in 2014 and have had many fun, challenging and crazy experiences together. Some of those include working together to get through the most difficult classes at SoFA, completing their internships at YAY together, lining up in the wee hours of the morning (talking 5am to 10:30am here) to buy 1D tickets (yeahp, we LOVE One Direction!), and most importantly, starting FIFTEEN30SEVEN together. 

Now you might be thinking, “Why FIFTEEN30SEVEN?” After much thought and discussion, the name was born of an inside joke. Guia and Regina bond over pop culture, boy bands, beauty and food. They laugh through hardships and tears, don’t take themselves too seriously, and do everything they can to overcome and find humor in every challenge thrown their way. FIFTEEN30SEVEN is a reference to one of their inside jokes (ask them about it when you meet them!) and a reflection of their attitude. 

FIFTEEN30SEVEN was created to provide practical, easy to wear, versatile and affordable clothing for all types of women (hang on guys, we’re still working and experimenting with menswear!), while supporting the Philippine manufacturing industry. The team behind FIFTEEN30SEVEN is passionate about design, lifestyle, being practical and working with a budget. All of these were kept in mind when the brand was conceptualised.

One of the aims of FIFTEEN30SEVEN is to build a community that celebrates being who you are unapologetically, while supporting and encouraging others to do the same. We believe in living a vibrant life— one that is full of love, laughter, joy, positivity, kindness and confidence to relentlessly pursue your dreams and passions.
