Let’s be very clear- the *excuse* that murderer and police officer Kim Potter intended to use her stun gun instead of her actual gun is a CLEAR reaction to the legal battle Derek Chauvin is facing right now. His trial hinges on intent to kill. The department is trying to cover up any evidence of intent as early as possible. This isn’t department superiors being gullible, it isn’t an officer being sorry and recognizing her mistake. This is a shrewd legal maneuver, and in all likelihood a lie.
Rest in power, Daunte Wright.
And what do you know, the charge is manslaughter, a no-intent killing.

I make one comment on a Facebook ad saying they ripped their art from a fanfic and now my algorithm won’t stop showing me kinky poorly-written webcomic apps
Excuse me Lil Nas X killed the devil the least y’all could do is be grateful
So can we finally kill the model minority bullshit now? Are we done with the cover-up of racism against an entire continent’s worth of immigrants because of statistical success for *one* gender in *one* area? Yes? We see the racism now? Ok cool
Friendly reminder that 1200 calories is the recommended amount for a 5 year old
this hit me.
another fact is that 500 calories isn’t even enough for a new born.
why did I go so long convinced that going over 500 in a day was the end of the world?
Another friendly reminder that the United States used 1,000 calorie diets as torture for political prisoners and justified it using the diet industry.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/04/17/bush-torture-memos-commer_n_188190.html
In a footnote to a May 10, 2005, memorandum from the Office of Legal Council, the Bush attorney general’s office argued that restricting the caloric intake of terrorist suspects to 1000 calories a day was medically safe because people in the United States were dieting along those lines voluntarily.
“While detainees subject to dietary manipulation are obviously situated differently from individuals who voluntarily engage in commercial weight-loss programs, we note that widely available commercial weight-loss programs in the United States employ diets of 1000 kcal/day for sustain periods of weeks or longer without requiring medical supervision,” read the footnote. “While we do not equate commercial weight loss programs and this interrogation technique, the fact that these calorie levels are used in the weight-loss programs, in our view, is instructive in evaluating the medical safety of the interrogation technique.”
Another another friendly reminder that the Minnesota Starvation Experiment subjected adult men who were VOLUNTEERS to 1,560 calorie diets and the psychological effects were so profound that one volunteer cut three of his own fingers off and could not remember why.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minnesota_Starvation_Experiment
These men were volunteers who knew exactly what they would be going through and when it would end, and who believed they were doing it for a good and moral reason (the research was used to help rehabilitate victims of starvation and famine at the end of WWII).
And these are the things we are expected to engage in FOREVER to stay at a “healthy” weight.
Reading about the Minnesota Starvation experiment was my wake-up call. It was what kicked me out of my eating disorder. The guy missing three fingers, whatever his name was, he was the last straw for me.
Scared me so fucking bad I stopped restricting my food that day, and never went back to it.
Just bringin’ this back around like I sometimes do.
Wow. This really hit me hard.
EAT
Fun fact– calorie restriction exacerbates symptoms of pretty much *every* mental illness.
Anorexia has ~16% mortality rate, slightly higher than acted upon suicidal ideation. It’s more lethal than actively trying to kill oneself and this is why.
Just wanna add that the first thing my nutritionist made me do to lose weight is eat about double the quantity of food and it worked and I lost 8 pounds that week. She has also never said the word “calorie” to me. It’s a fairly useless measurement when it comes to weight stuff.
As both a Shakespeare and a classical era enthusiast I choose to believe that everyone posts Julius Caesar on the Ides of March specifically to celebrate my birthday
I move to make Kyrsten Sinema’s pay $11/hr
my econ teacher has been trying to teach about scarcity by having a limited amount of graph paper available for students who don’t have any (she has the last few pages in a pad and when it’s gone, it’s gone) but it’s very undercut by the fact that i have a whole pad and i’ll let people have a piece whenever they need it
she’s teaching scarcity, you’re teaching the value of sharing a resource when you have enough to spare
YES EXACTLY!!!!!
In particular, she’s teaching artificial scarcity by being a person in an authoritative position withholding resources that are actually abundant from people who need them.
You are breaking the illusion of power and scarcity by showing the supposedly scarce resource is actually in abundance and if distributed properly everyone would have what they needed to pass the class.
She's also the person that creates the need for the paper for assignments in the first place

‘People Are Greedy’: The Absurd Electric Bills Slamming Texans
https://www.thedailybeast.com/dollar5152-power-bill-texas-winter-storm-hell-only-gets-worse?ref=scroll
Texans should file a class action suit against ERCOT, all the power companies, the governor & every member of their state House & Senate. All of them should pay these astronomical electric/gas bills.
DON’T PUNISH THE VICTIMS. PUNISH THE PERPETRATORS.
Thank god this isn’t twitter so I can say I unequivocally support murdering the people responsible. Don’t worry they probably weren’t smart enough to give cops lower rates no one will stop you.
Look at the absolute evilness
That's a lot of words for "no." But hey, maybe the court will extend the same courtesy and let them spread out their punitive damages payments from the wrongful death suits!
Today, I took the eye wash sprayer out of my protest pack, cleaned it out, and used it to water my house plants, which was a vibe to say the least. So here’s to healing and regrowth in 2021:)
Like, you must realize that when you “mock” the south for shitty weather and covid shit that you’re not mocking the rich/the people who you intend to hurt, right? like you realize you’re mocking the homeless who will freeze to death, the poor with houses unequipped to handle the weather, the most vulnerable people who will literally die? i honestly hope y’all northeners choke, like fuck y’all. yankie asses.
the sheer distance between impeachment for a misunderstanding about whether oral counts as sex and whether or not that’s perjury and impeachment for sending an armed mob to kill the Vice President is really making me angry
I hope Maryland’s so proud of Raskin. I find him a singularly effective attorney and a highly professional front for the impeachment team
My impostor syndrome is cured
thanks to the Trump impeachment team. At least I know that the word "and" doesn't end a sentence, and in fact suggests a list consisting of more than one thing.
Seriously though, my soul has left my body. Even my dumbass 1L brief wasn't this humiliating. Here's the Article I section quoted today by the Trump defense team:
"Judgment in Cases of Impeachment shall not extend further than to removal from Office"
The attorney then said this indicates there is no constitutionally-allowed penalty for impeachment other than removal from office, so the trial is pointless.
But. THESE ARE THE NEXT WORDS.
"Judgment in Cases of Impeachment shall not extend further than to removal from Office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any Office of honor Trust or Profit under the United States"
so... there are two clearly-stated penalties.
This is now thin their legal case is. This is not their best legal argument, but the fact that this is was even said constitutes malpractice and no judge would allow that shit. The thing is, they know this. They're not trying to convince senators, they're trying to convince an ingorant public by misinforming them further.
IN FACT, the next Trump lawyer comes up to argue that the impeachment is SPECIFICALLY a ploy to keep Trump out of office in the future!!! So like... idk it's either complete miscommunication between attorneys or misrepreseting the text of the constitution.
Oh my bad, apparently the word “and” has a secret meaning that coincidentally happens to mean Trump can’t be convicted. And this comes from some smart people, but don’t ask them about it, because they don’t actually support this conclusion.
