Allah created Man to be the vicegerent of Allah on earth (Al-Quran, 2:30). He has given us more than we need yet inequality still exists. Because of greed and the love for dunya (worldly matter), the rich become richer and the poor become poorer. It has been stated in the Qur'an that all the bad things that have been happening to us have been preordained by Allah. Perhaps some of you are taking negatively about it and some, positively. I believe Allah created the hardships to us as means of elevating us and removing our sins. Do men think that they will be left alone on saying, "We believe", and that they will not be tested? We did test those before them, and God will certainly will know those who are true from those who are false. (Al-Quran, 29:2-3) Remember, we are sent to this world with a purpose, i.e to worship Allah SWT. As a Muslim, of course we want to gain Allah's love in this world as well the HereAfter. Therefore, we should strive to follow the practice of Allah's Beloved Messenger, Prophet Muhammad (peace & blessings be upon him). The guidance are all in the Quran and Ahadith. This blog is mainly to suggest solutions to reduce poverty based on the Qur'an and Ahadith as well as to remind each other why we are here today. We live for a purpose. We don't live to exist but we exist to live. We can fight this disease, inshaAllah. var sc_project=7335397; var sc_invisible=0; var sc_security="f7e99a96";

Those who devour usury will not stand except as stands one whom the Evil by his touch hath driven to madness. That is because they say: "Trade is like usury, but Allah hath permitted trade and forbidden usury. Those who after receiving direction from their Lord, desist, shall be pardoned for the past; their case is for Allah (to judge); but those who repeat (the offence) are companions of the Fire; they will abide therein (for ever).
All that we had borrowed up to 1985 was around US$5 billion, and we have paid about US$16 billion. Yet we are still being told that we owe about US$28 billion. That US$28 billion came about because of the injustice in the foreign creditors' interest rates. If you ask me what the worst thing in the world is, I will say it is compound interest!

when we meet poverty in life. we tend to realize and see things that we could not see in life and the value of things and feelings of others who suffer. everyone gets a chance to see the real bitterness in every aspect in life and the cure for it.
After my ex partner split from me, my whole world crashed. I lost my job, home, health and family. Within three months I was homeless and heart broke without a penny to my name.
I managed to get a room in shared accommodation, there was no electric or gas. The house was previously infested with mice and smelt very bad. The winter was very cold about -10 c , and the property was just as cold.
I went day after day without food, the longest was 8 days without a meal.
I was starving, alone and heartbroken with no family or friends to help.
It was through these times I turned to God. I asked Him to help. Over time things slowly improved and I was able to secure some work.
I like to think back to those times and reflect how Merciful God was to me. And also to appreciate the difficult times we humans face everyday.

ANSWER: Salaam, I apologize for the late reply. Indeed, it is during hard times that our hearts feel fragile the most and it is during those times that we tend to turn to God wholeheartedly. Alhamdulillah, praise to God that He brought you closer to Him. Every single thing that happened to each of us, no matter how good or bad, happened for a good reason. I believe that He has made you a better person today. Thank you for sharing your experience and thoughts with us. Stay blessed!
Joe Madiath has spent 30 years working in development among the poorest communities in Orissa, India. Drawn there in 1971 to help communities that had been ravaged by a cyclone, Joe stayed on as an activist focused on sustainable development projects. He founded Gram Vikas in 1979 and has served as executive director ever since, growing Gram Vikas into one of the largest non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Orissa. Gram Vikas originally focused on providing renewable energy for rural communities, building more than 54,000 biogas units. Over time, Gram Vikas developed its more holistic model of development, based on Joe's conviction that every family in a village must have healthy living practices and an improved quality of life before total development can occur. This model has transformed at least 289 villages and has successfully proven that the rural poor can and will pay for better sanitation and water facilities.
MashaAllah, this is inspirational. Indeed, health is the most important asset of a human. Without it, one can never work well and be productive. Taking care of cleanliness is an excellent way to fight poverty. Also, it is heart warming to see how the perseverance of this good samaritan helped break down the tense between the high- and low-caste households.
