        “Red what did you do?!” Hearing the other Marmorites yelling, hearing his name, and the word ‘intruder’, Keith’s eyes went wide for a moment as he leapt out of bed and ran to his doorway the same time several Marmorites were poised to enter to make sure Keith wasn’t being attacked. Talking them down wasn’t the easiest thing since this wasn’t the first time Red had attacked the Blades base, and this time they saw it as just as baseless an attack as the first time. Keith knew he’d be in hot water for awhile due to this, but he refused to budge on them promptly making Red leave, though he did promise she would be gone by morning.

        So by the time they were alone again, Keith was mildly tense just from having to get a lecture from his superiors about not letting his Lion come in by destroying a wall and causing chaos. A heavy sigh escaped his lips as the door closed shut behind the last Blade member and he could turn around to face her.

        “Red, you can’t be busting down any walls like that! I don’t mind you coming to see me, but the last thing I want is you getting banned from the premises because you keep attacking the base to get in!”

       The shout had her recoiling ever so slightly out of shock, red orbs blinking         wide as she stared up at him. He’d never yelled at her like that before, and        she didn’t like it at all. Her form visibly deflated as she realized what she had        done was bad, lips tipping downward into a saddened frown. “I was just         worried, you were putting off these distressed signals and I thought someone        might have captured you or something. I don’t want what happened to Shiro        happening to you too.” Confessing her silent fear, the lionesses fists would         clench in anger as she felt the burn behind her eyes signalling tears of        frustration were fixing to form. She couldn’t understand why what she did was        so bad, and the fact Keith was angry at her didn’t make the situation any better.

        Keith’s ability to sleep like a log once he was under was both a blessing and a curse sometimes. When the alarm had sounded as Red attacked part of the base, he hadn’t stirred an inch. Nor did he when the lioness snuck into his room. It was the poke to his side that had the noir near instantly recoiling (last thing he wanted while sleeping was to be tickled) and shooting up in bed. Seeing the outline of a figure in front of him, instinct had him reaching for the blade under before recognizing the voice registered in his brain.

        “Red?? What’re you doing here?” Definitely not what he’d been expecting in the middle of the night.

       Nearly jumping out of her skin in surprise at his sudden jolt, she blinked         rapidly in an attempt to calm herself before realizing he had responded to        her call. “You were distressed, and I thought you were in trouble so I came        to make sure you were safe.” Ignoring the shouting echoing down the hallways        behind her as the other members had figured out the ‘intruder’ had gone into        Keith’s room, her eyes stayed focused on him as she was determined to         find out why her former Paladin had been feeling the way he was earlier before        she came barging in. “Is there something wrong, why were you feeling so upset?”

          He let himself lean against the way, sliding down until he was seated on the floor of the hangar. He still missed Blue. Even with the adjustment to the speed and temperament of the Red Lion…it just didn’t feel the same. She was supposed to be Keith’s, after all. And taking that into account…a thought hit.

          “Don’t you ever miss Keith? Want him back?”

       That was a question she had definitely not expected from the Paladin,        and she was unsure with just how to respond to his inquiry. Of course        she missed Keith, the two had been closely bonded for a while and it        still stung to know that he had been ripped away from her but on the         other hand she had grown to like this new Paladin of hers. Slender        fingertips tapped against the other as she hummed in thought, flickering        her gaze up finally to pin down the male before her. “Yes, but I know he’s        where he needs to be right now and there’s nothing I can do about that.         I’m needed here, with you and the rest of the team.”

        After a few long minutes of rolling over and laying in bed, Keith finally found a comfortable spot and was somewhat able to doze back of to sleep. Not as fitful of a sleep as he would prefer, but sleep nonetheless. He might not be able to sense his Lion’s presence like she could him, so he wouldn’t find out she was there until she actually was.

      It was easy for her to sneak inside after shifting down into her more human       and go running off down the winding hallways as the Blades began trying to       piece together who had attacked them. Using her senses as a guide to where       Keith was staying, she all but tumbled into the room and allow her shoulders to        slump ever so slightly in silent relief. He was safe. Prodding his side with a nimble       finger, the lioness would tip her head to the side slightly as she observed his        sleeping expression. “Keith?”

        It’d been a restless sleep for Keith that night, ever since his head laid down on the pillow. Maybe it was the mission the Blade of Marmora had finished that day weighing his mind down despite it being successful, who knows. With the stress of fighting the war on a new side of the rebellion, Keith persistently had a lot on his min as it is.

        So when he shot up in bed, heart pounding and breathing shallow and quick, the memory of the dream came back to his waking mind.

        ……Oh.

        The Red lion rejecting him for its current Paladin. Keith at some point having the chance to come back to Voltron, only to see his former lion choosing Lance over him. Red actually shooting at him and the last thing Keith seeing in the dream is a laser of fire coming straight at him with no chance of missing.

        Running a hand through his hair, Keith rested his forehead on his arm braced on his knee. It was a good thing it was just a dream, but it didn’t stop the ache in the former Paladin’s chest going back to the castle out to his former partner.

       The foreboding feeling in her chest was the first to rise the        lioness from her slumber, before realizing what she was         feeling in that moment was coming from her former Red        Paladin. Upon this realization, she shot up from where she        had been curled on the males old bed to run off into her hangar        for take off. Ever since Keith had left her for the Blade of Marmora,        Red had spiraled into a bundle of stress and anxiety over the        safety of the male while he was out of her reach which resulted        in times like these where she’s flying off into space in the dead of        night to make sure he was safe even if it did mean blowing a hole        into the side of the Blade’s base just to get inside.

        “Red?” Well he could cross off one thing on his list he didn’t expect to see when he came to drop off his bag before going to join the team. “How’d you know I was coming today?”

       “Call it feline intuition.” That or she had hounded Shiro        for days until he told her the next time Keith would be        visiting so she could be sure to not be out on a mission        and be able to properly see him. “Why are you stopping        by anyways?”

“Thanks for always lookin’ out for me Red.” Red just wants to keep her reckless, headstrong Paladin safe 😭❤️️

       “Well well well, look who decided to visit.”        Why she was seated on the Red Paladins        bed by herself, no one will ever know.

“ so i guess we’re not as bad of a team as i thought we’d be. “ it’s a compliment. mostly. there’s still a part of him that misses blue, but red isn’t too bad. 

       “Despite the fact you kept crashing me into rocks for a while.”        A playful smile would hint at her lips to show she wasn’t really         upset with him over it. It was true she did miss Keith, but she         had slowly begun to warm up to the Blue Paladin over time.
