"Professor Mag'nesson, I'm not married to anything but my spellbook. Or Murray, if we're on a first name basis. And no, I'm not familiar with the term Arcana Pansophical. Is that a Totality denomination? Because I am an arcanist, but I deal with the illusion of fate, more heretical than clerical."
She gave a quick wink.
"Oh, you know. Dimension Door may only have a one in twenty chance at killing you if you go to far, but there's a reason farther distance spells have literally died out...wait. What do you mean you aren't familiar with the Pentevral?" But even as she asked it, the pieces seemed to be clicking in her head. "Oh boy howdy. You still haven't given me your name. Care to add your year of birth and locality of residence?"
Essek nodded at her correction, married to her work that he could understand. Her willingness to offer her full name to a stranger who apparated into her ... office? ... sent a pang of anxiety through him. He opened his mouth to share one of his many aliases, so as to not seem suspicious from a lack of introductions, "I am -" only to find her magic blocking the lie that rested on his tongue. Awkward truth then it would have to be. " ... uncomfortable providing my true name at this time. It is probably in your best interest that you not know who I am at this juncture. I hail from Xhorhas, but in truth I have not called that country home in many years." His ears perked up at her mention of fate and heresy, he was a predictable man afterall. "I am afraid I am not familiar with the Totality either. This is very vexing." He began to tapp his fingers together, thinking through her explanation. The magical blowback she described sounded akin to something one might encounter in Aeor perhaps, but there was no magical university in Aeor, at least not any longer. "I have heard of similar effects of higher order magics causing undesired consequences, but I'm afraid I'm unfamiliar with where in Exandria translocation magic has this impact, could you enlighten me, Professor?"
