I never really thought that far into the Robyn/Benjen stuff like who the father was or anything, but he was probably just a guard or something. I came up with it very early after @peggyoung made Benjen, though.

Why do you think Rob chose to pass Ben as another Grimport sibling? And how did they manage to hide her pregnancy/Janna’s lack of it?

The answer to the first question is simply pride - if word got out that she had mothered a bastard then her reputation would fall significantly, as well as that of the house and, more importantly, Ben. As a bastard he would be judged throughout his entire life and would never get to live ‘normally’, so Robyn had to make it so that he’d have the best quality of life possible. Also she doubted her own parental abilities, so it was best to hand the kid off to her own parents who had already raised five of their own.

As for the pregnancy, I want to say that as soon as she started showing, she approached Janna and asked her to make a show with Kjar to indicate she was pregnant, then the two of them went on a trip to the Burleys’ keep or something until the baby arrived.

Your muse roughly grabs my muse’s arm.

She stops in her tracks, blue eyes snapping to the other. they’re cold & angry & lack any ounce of warmth. She doesn’t quite jerk her arm away, instead staying where she is. 

                            “ Let go of my arm. “ 

Her words are long, even, drawn out. There’s an angry heat lurking beneath the controlled tone, ready to rip through the thin layer of self control keeping it in.

She doesn’t flinch when the grip is tightened, meeting the other’s eyes with defiance. She had no intention of offering an apology – why should she give one. She sure as hell wouldn’t mean it & had no reason to act  as if she cared.

She locks her jaw, gritting her teeth together in defiance when her arm is  twisted. It wasn’t pleasant, but Rhaesa wasn’t ready to give the other the  satisfaction of knowing it had affected her. 

        She listens to the words, letting them settle for a moment.         She doesn’t offer a response,    instead repeating herself.                                  “ I told you to let me go. “

She doesn’t waste any time, the moment  following her response filled  with her snapping her foot out in a kick. It was aimed towards the other’s  knee – she tries to jerk back in the process, though the awkward angle of  her arm makes it more difficult than she had anticipated.

Robyn felt the girl’s foot collide with her knee, wincing as it made contact, her grip loosening ever so slightly. As she recovered, she noted the girl attempting to slip free and made sure to tighten her grip once more, using her free hand to clasp the girl’s neck and slam her against a wall.

“I will let you go when you apologise.” she growled as the girl’s face threatened to turn purple. “You can walk away from this with a bruised throat and battered pride, or you can simply not walk away at all. I’m not all that keen on killing, but I’ll gladly rid the world of one insolent little bitch - it’s likely no one would miss you.”

She scowled at the girl, tightening her grip so that it would likely leave a temporary mark even through the fabric of her sleeve. Quickly she twists the Greyson’s arm and draws the other so that they were facing each other. 

“I don’t know what your parents told you, dear,” she snarled, “but it is not polite for little girls to go around insulting other Houses.”

We agree on something for the first time in twenty-seven years.

Rob was smart. She always picked up on what he thought or felt, even without him telling her. Sometimes this annoyed him — especially when he wanted to hide something. Her words, however, brought him a sense of relief, of comfort. Ben trusted her — he knew she wouldn’t tell. 

He allowed himself the courage to let go, practically throwing himself into Robyn’s arms. As he did, he let out a wail more suited for an infant than a ten year old boy. The comfort of Robyn’s embrace made him feel safe, like he could cry this way and no one would judge him for it. His sister appeared cold and distant, but when they were alone she treated him kindly. 

“I went hunting with Jae today.” Ben could hardly get the words out with how hard he cried. “I was h-happy cause she wanted to take me this time. B-but I did-didn’t know it meant hurting a-animals! It was so s-small, Rob. A rabbit. I didn’t mean to kill it. I didn’t mean to…”

Robyn wrapped her arms tight around Ben’s small frame as he threw himself at her, burying her face into the boy’s shoulder and squeezing her eyes shut. Slowly she raised a fingerless-gloved hand to the back of Ben’s head and gently stroked his hair in an attempt to sooth him- to stop his whimpering.

“Oh, Benjen,” she sighed, refusing to let go. She’d killed men before, let alone her fair share of rabbits, but a child was different. Especially some one so small, so precious to her. The idea of Ben hurting and killing some thing when he hadn’t wanted to made Robyn feel something that she hadn’t felt in a long time - the same feeling she’d felt when she had first felt some thing. Ben was one of very few that she felt empathy for.

“Ben, listen to me,” she explained, leaning back and pressing her hands to the boy’s cheeks so that she could steer his gaze to hers. “It’s all right. You didn’t do anything wrong - Jae should have explained it to you. It’s not your fault, and someone probably would have killed it anyway. Men have to hunt to survive, it’s just... something we have to do, so try...” she raised an arm and wiped her watering eyes with the back of her hand before Ben could catch sight of any tears.

“It’s all right,” she sniffed, trying to force a smile for her brother’s sake. “Do you believe me?”

“See, this is why we can’t have nice things.” (It's a crime these two haven't interacted yet)

“ Robyn….” Geriant couldn’t think of any good comebacks as he pulled his sword from the bandit. “ That’s true but this time it’s not my fault.”

“ that is true.” He grinned, Showing a large amount of teeth to her. “ I though perhaps you’d like the honors, sister?” He held out his sword to her, the last bandit quivering as he knelt before the the Lordlings.

“Oh, for fuck’s sake.” Robyn grunted, rolling her eyes. She quickly accepted the sword and bent her knees slightly in front of the bandit, pressing her free hand to his shoulder. Keeping her eyes locked on Geriant’s, she sighed exasperatedly and thrust the sword into the bandit’s chest. After some convulsing the bandit quickly fell still and Robyn pushed him to the ground, releasing the sword and passing it back to her brother.

“I expect you were hoping that was my first time doing something like that?” she asked emotionlessly. “Sorry to disappoint.”

“ why can’t you trust me? ” -Aaron Talwell.

“Because you are a ward of a rival house, not a member of our family - no matter how much my siblings have convinced themselves otherwise.”

“Not yet”. Aaron retorts. “When my father passes, I’ll have to be sent back to my family’s hold. Then you’ll have to trust me, because I’ll be Lord Talwell. Those ten years have to count for something, Robyn”.

“Believe it or not, I’ve had better to worry about over the past ten years.” Robyn stated absent mindedly, refusing to even look at the Talwell. “You need to realise you’re not a member of our family, you’re a pawn so that your father can secure his own house’s safety. Whenever you’re sent back, it won’t be soon enough because I’m fed up of dealing with you”
