After finding out that Philando Castille was murdered by an Asian officer, I’m really going to need for y'all to address the anti-blackness within your communities
It’s not enough for you to reblog a couple of tweet threads and text posts that you’re just going to delete later anyways. The anti-blackness within your communities is killing us. You can’t separate yourself from the officer who did this. The same way white people are held accountable as a whole, non-black people need to be to.
I can’t believe I still have to ask you all to not reblog the video of a man getting killed. Please respect black people, even in their deaths.
Why is it disrespectful though? The whole world needs to wake up to the reality of the situation. Some people don’t believe things to the extent they deserve until they see it with their own eyes. The video is the one thing that might actually get those fucking pigs this time.
I understand if you personally don’t want to see such graphic content for whatever reasons, but we gotta get his story out there.
It’s disrespectful because every time a black person dies, we have to see their deaths put on public forums with no type of viewer discretion. The fact that I’ve seen a young boy’s body lying in the street with a pool of blood extending from his carcass, a man get choked to death on the street while he pleaded for his life, and now I gotta see a man get shot at point blank range, all real life events and not snuff shit, is unacceptable. It has been proven by studies all the time that people in society don’t empathize with black people’s pain, and I honestly think that’s why everyone is so okay with just watching a death and then scrolling about afterward. But I’ve seen people die in real time, and the silence in the air after a person goes limp in reality is the same to me behind a screen. So many of you act as though it’s a necessity to see someone’s death to believe that we’re dying. It isn’t. It never should be, and it never will. You can reblog the story without the video.
what type of things did you post when you first started tumblr? i posted edgy black and white edits
Why are you all so fuckin weird about liking kpop you really dont have to have cheesy ass fetish urls like korean-paradise or hangul-aesthetic or asianmenruinedmylife with titles and descriptions like “I’ve fallen in love with 7 perfect korean men” cut that shit out it’s embarrassing
I don’t like this kind of tone. Like what? So what if we have those kind of descriptions? Embarrassing? What? How is it embarrassing ? How did you come up with this ‘standard’ of what’s embarrassing or what’s not? To all my followers, if you feel like having your description like that or simple or whatever, do it! Don’t be ashamed of your own ideas whether it’s weird or quirky or ‘embarassing’ towards others … We already get so much criticism from others who doesn’t like kpop .. Why should we get criticized even more from people within our community?
“Don’t be ashamed! Be proud!!!” of what??? Fetishising an entire ethnicity based on just its pop culture, which isn’t even representative of korean culture anyway??? Why do kpop fans INSIST on stating that their faves are korean/asian in urls like asiansare-seoulsexy why are you so fixated on their ethnicity. urls like those are you telling the internet that you’re obsessed with koreans/asians JUST because you like kpop. sorry, I should’ve been more specific: it’s not just embarrassing, it’s fetishising. it’s racist. you’re fetishising koreans, and that is yellow fever.
idols are Human they’re not perfect nor are they anime characters or some shit. kpop isn’t representative of korean culture, nor is korean culture a paradise or an aesthetic. it’s completely possible to enjoy kpop without needing to point out every fukin where that your faves are korean, without putting them on a pedestal just for being asian, without glorifying koreans and korean culture (you don’t know SHIT about korean culture just from kpop). this isn’t a matter of my oppressing your “quirky fangirling” or what the fuck ever, it’s a matter of your not recognising that this kind of mentality is fetishist and racist.
in the meantime, here’s a helpful rule:
don’t say ‘asian’ in your generalization unless its literally true of all of asia.
i’m talking all the regions. south. southeast. east. west. central. north.
