Lens Tests, a set on Flickr.

My parents were kind enough to be test dummies for the brand-new-right-out-of-the-box Dog Schidt FF58 lens. This beautiful little lens was hand built in England using an old Russian Helios as the base. It has a ridiculous amount of character, and my impression is that I'm going to be using this lens, a lot. Currently the guy behind Dog Schidt Optiks, Richard, is a bit backed up with the huge quantity of orders. Trust me on this though, these lenses are worth the wait if you like some manual funkiness in your shots.

The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum is a fantastic place to stop if you are ever in Southern Arizona. Beyond the expected wildlife like wolves, coyotes, goats, hummingbirds, bears, cats and raptors, they have freakin’ parrots! This Lilac-Crested Parrot was surprisingly hard to spot; dozens of people walked right underneath him while I was there. He just happily sat and watched.
