11/2Ā Today Goofus the Peacock killed a mouse and instead of eating it right away, decided to wander around the pasture carrying it in his beak. The feral cats always appreciate dead-rodent-based performance art, so they followed behind Goofus single file to make a Very Exciting Dead Rodent Parade.
At one point Goofus stopped and put down his rodent and one of the feral cats dared to sniff at it, and Goofus unleashed The Most Terrifying Honk, something along the lines of I WILL END YOU AND EVERYONE YOU LOVE AND YOUR BONES WILL BE FORGOTTEN ON THE FROZEN EARTH WHEN I SNUFF OUT THE SUN AND SING THE STARS TO DARKNESS I AM THE DEVOURER AND DESTROYER OF ALL THINGS
The feral cats, previously unaware that the Death Of The Universe And End Of All Things is currently living as a peacock, ran off at about fifty miles an hour and hid under the barn for the rest of the day. They didnāt even come out at milking time to beg for goat milk, which is a first.
We probably should not have named the Death Of The Universe And The End Of All Things āGoofus,ā actually.

Dick ridingĀ IS NOTĀ a form of transportation!!!!!!!!Ā
not with that attitude
as we can see here dick riding has been used as a form of transport since at least the central middle ages
Wasnāt going to reblog this but I just couldnāt get over her face. That is some steely determination. She is riding that dick monster TO BATTLE.
Hahahaha wtf
Well, they do say that the broom a witch flies upon is a penis metaphor. :pĀ

Part 3
Part two
This year was the first time I put leather on my books. It has been a challenge, but so much fun. Now that Iāve got all of my books together, itās time for a little photoshoot.Ā
This is part one!Ā
The ongoing saga of Harker and the stapler
My ball python, Harker, is really scared of this one stapler.
Every time he sees it, he balls up.
I was grading today and sure enough, the stapler was still scary.
However, for the first time, I introduced a second stapler!
He was nervous at firstā¦Ā
But it didnāt take him long to warm up to it.
Pretty soon it became his best friend!
There was nothing the new stapler couldnāt do!
Including protecting him from the other stapler.
The moral of the story?
My snake is a weirdo.
Book collecting, I would have you know, is a full-time occupation, and one wouldnāt get far if one took time off for frivolities like reading.
A.N.L. Munby (1913-1974), book collector, librarian (via turnbullrarebooks)
I donāt know what I was expectingā¦
And of course, I also made myself one!Ā
This one is a bit more complicated than the one for my brother, to make it a bit more girly.. :)
So I made an apron for my brother!Ā
Iām especially proud of my very neat hems.Ā
This is one of the books I made for class. It is a book with fragments and pieces of old children books. Originally published in 1850 or so, but mine is a facsimile from the seventies.Ā
The spine is in red leather. The cat is in wool felt, it looks less worn down in real life. But it does have some beauty problems at the ears and paws. The tail runs through on the endpapers (it wasnāt attached yet when I took these pictures). The cat is also supposed to be the same as the one inside the book (last picture). At first I wanted to do that in leather as well, but couldnāt find good black leather and the one my teacher gave me was really crappy. So I ended up with the felt.Ā
Other things I learned with this book:
- Never colour your spine black with a water based paint. Not smart.Ā - Protect the headbands better while covering.Ā - When trimming signatures, pay more attention so you donāt cut off the spine side of it. Very stupid.Ā - Next time listen to your own gut instinct and not your teacher forcing you to decorate a book.Ā
So I finished the miniature book. It is 4,5cm high (1,8 inches) and 15cm (6 inches) wide. I had a hard time choosing covering materials. I didnāt want to cut the colours off by covering it with a dark colour and I also didnāt want to go for my usual combination of red and blue.Ā
Luckily I found this cute geometric paper in my stash and a nice purple paper that matches the headbands. This way, almost all of the colours come back a bit.Ā
Iām also happy that everything is square and the way it should be, which was quite challenge with such a wide book.Ā
