who’s the cuddler: Neither at first and then both. Julia never thought of herself as a cuddler (Roger never wanted to cuddle and she was more than fine with it) and David thought cuddling with anyone but Vicky would somehow feel more wrong than just having sex, but then they somehow end up holding each other after a night together and it just feels right in a way that neither of them could have expected. It’s another level of having someone near that they both have somewhat unknowingly been craving.
who makes the bed: Julia doesn’t make her bed. She has a housekeeper come in every day to put away the dishes and tidy up, which includes making the bed. David is used to making his own bed so he tries to do the same after spending a night at Julia’s and she finds it endearing but tells him he doesn’t need to do it. Usually he does it anyway unless Julia has time to distract him.
who wakes up first: David. The military has made him an early riser and often his anxiety wakes him up anyway, sometimes also in the middle of the night. With Julia by his side, he finds it easier to fall back asleep, but sometimes he likes to simply stay awake and watch her sleep.
who has the weird taste in music: David’s taste is more eclectic and Julia rolls her eyes at most of the things he calls music. He is also a little wary of the collection of classical music that Julia has and he initially begs her not to make him sit through all of it, but over time he learns to appreciate the symphonies and operas that Julia introduces him to.
who is more protective: David when it comes to physical safety. Even after he stops being her bodyguard, he is always looking out for any signs of potential danger when they are out together. Julia is also protective of David but her protectiveness is less visible. She learns to recognise potential triggers and tries to quietly eliminate them when she can or lessen their impact if she can’t. She also makes sure he keeps going to therapy.
who sings in the shower: Julia might hum some tunes from operettas if she has time and can have the luxury of a longer shower. David doesn’t sing unless he has had a few drinks, in which case Julia might catch him singing some Scottish drinking songs, woefully off-key.
who cries during movies: David. Julia is usually too preoccupied with mentally counting the plot holes and factual errors to let the emotional impact catch up with her.
who spends the most while out shopping: Julia. If she sees something she likes, she buys it. If she likes it a lot, she might buy two of the same because money is something she has never really had to think about. David is quite frugal with his shopping habits and doesn’t see the point of even trying to lavish Julia with expensive gifts when she already has everything she needs and can buy anything she wants. If he gives her a gift, it’s more likely to be something thoughtful and of little monetary value.
who kisses more roughly: They can both go from sweet to rough in a heartbeat
who is more dominate: Julia is so used to cracking the whip in all other aspects of her life that she usually lets David dominate in bed, but often there’s a bit of push and pull from both sides, and that extends to their life in general too.
