An Artist’s Dream
Let me dream a sweet dream tonight
Let me have one sleep of respite
Open the windows
And Let the stars flood in-
To my mind
As we dine on blissful nothings
Let me take sanctuary in those eyes
I saw just once
They’ll light up the dark
Brighter than that dusty crescent moon
Just one sleep on sunshine
Let me dream of hope
While my days are crowded with grey
As I struggle through the day
Let me have just one night
Of colour
Of joy
Of love
I need love in my heart
Let it flow when my eyes are closed
And my breathing is heavy
Let the whispering in my ears be a lover’s tune
Not the hiss of all my doubts
My numb days plaster the canvas in white
Let the night soak it in hues of delight
The slight silver of the first star I see this night
The golden yellow that falls though fingers in petals
The wild wild green of the grass that scratched at our feet as we ran
The blue. The blue of your eyes.
Let me swim
In a lagoon of my imagination
Let me dream of dreams where the writing
Falls
Off
The
Pages.
Because words can’t describe
I want to believe
In me
I want to know
It’ll be okay
You can’t do that
I will.
But you can let me have tonight
Whisk me away to the hidden realm of your arms
Then daylight
Daylight
Return me to the greys of reality.
