     “Dear? How many have you ‘ad, sir? Listen, I only asked ‘cause you was over here on your own lookin’ like a sad case. I wanna dance less than you do, honest. I’m only even ‘ere ‘cause there’s girls ‘ere.”

“I love my name, I chose it, Juuzou just seemed right, Suzuya is my last name.” He nodded, grinning. “It’s awesome actually, really beautiful.” He smiles, “I enjoyed my time there more than anything.” He looks at the other.

     “No offence then mate,” he began, an expression of genuine curiosity across his features, “but what made you come ‘ere? It’s not exactly Japan, is it?”

“shit. mate, what if they’re lying to us and we’re… in bloody colorado or some shit? i bet they did. they’d do that.”

     “deffo, mate. dunno how they managed it, but they must’ve. magic or somethin’. ---- m’name’s finn, by the way.”

             “You can’t and you shouldn’t, take mine.” Izzy gave it to him, she had the others in her pocket but in that moment, she wanted to touch his hand, touch Finn Nelson’s hand. She was in love with him even when she didn’t know he’s real. She knew that she’s not going to remember much tomorrow so she started to talk. “Well, Finley, they say you’re the bad boy around here, are you?” This was the first question that came into her mind, but of course it wasn’t the last one. “Stop, don’t answer it, i have one more and this is the most important one!  Which one do you like more, Supersonic or Live Forever?” This is what happens when you met your favorite character.

     Finn took the joint gratefully, throwing both a grin and a wink in her direction in thanks. He took a long drag, and let it sit in his chest for a moment, before it was quickly expelled from his lungs as he chuckled at her question. The bad boy? Huh. He supposed there were worse things he could be called -- in fact, there were worse things he probably had been called. But before he could even open his mouth to respond, she had another question fired at him, full speed ahead. “Oh, you’re an Oasis girl, eh? That’s an ‘ard question. S’pose I’d ‘ave to say Supersonic. Dunno why, really. Just somethin’ about it that just.... hits somethin’ inside me, y’know?” He took another long drag, before handing the joint back to her. As he exhales, something hits him -- not just the weed -- “’Ang on a minute,” he paused for just a moment,, before adding, “’Ow d’you know my name?”

“Josh.” He introduced himself, simply. “Sounds like a fun place. I think this school could use some excitement, like, something to really get the blood pumping before people just start shriveling up from boredom.” Josh winked.

     "Nice to meet ya, man,” he replied easily, accompanied by a nod of his head in acknowledgement. Finn’s features lit up ever so slightly -- his eyes widened just half an inch, and a smirk creased his mouth. “Did ya have somethin’ in mind?”

    “I’m British, but you’re right you’re the only British i’ve ever seen here. You’re British right or are you doing this t thing on purpose?      “Nah, I’m Bri’tish,” he replied automatically, before her words actually dawned on him. “Wait--- What t thing?” Finn may or may not have been mildly offended for about zero point three seconds, before she continued and a bright grin split across his features. “S’pose I can’t say no to that, now, can I?” he beamed as he sat next to her with zero hesitation.

“you’re right about that, though, i thought that there would be more of us… since we’re in scotland and all.”

     “exactly! but i ain’t met a single sco’’ish person yet. i think the train must’ve ran right through scotland and dropped us off somewhere else, like america or something.”

     “Nah, s’alright, mate. Nuffin’ against you or anyfin’, just surprised, tha’s all,” Finn laughed softly in response. “Don’t think I’ve ‘eard a Sco’’ish accent all day.”

“I know, freaky, right? Just a bunch of us ‘Mericans, comin’ to wreck the motherland.” Josh laughed, pumping his fists in the air. “It’s a nice piece of rock though, I’ll say that. I mean the view around here looks like something straight out of Braveheart.”

    “You’re not half wrong there, mate,” he chuckled, burying his hands in his pockets, as if juxtaposing the actions of the unfamiliar male. “It ain’t like this back in Stamford. It’s so... quiet outside ‘ere.” And Stamford... Well, Stamford is often just the opposite of quiet. There’s always some kind of drama going on. “M’name’s Finn, by the way. Finn Nelson.”

Suzuya bit his lip as the boy noticeably strugged with his name, “Well I prefer Suzuya but if it’s easier you can call me Juzo.” He says quietly, he made his first name himself, changing his name at age eighteen was the best decision he ever made, helped him let go. “I was raised and trained in Japan. He says, this boy seemed uneasy, maybe it was his appearance or maybe it was fear of the unknown.

     Finn tested out the name a few times on his tongue, just to get it right, before he nodded; acknowledging that he had got it. “Suzuya, right? Got it. Sorry mate, I’m shit with names, I am. Called one of me best mates the wrong name for, like, a good few months,” he chuckled lightly, though it was only in an attempt to ease the awkwardness he felt upon getting the name wrong. “That’s pre’’y cool though, eh? What’s it like?”

“The local what?” Elena asked, her brows knitting together curiously. She had never felt more… american than in that moment with her lack of slang. It seemed every other country knew their lame equivalent attempt at original words. “So like boiled candy, but in stick form?” She asked, trying to put two and two together. The only thing close to that she’d eaten were ones the size of tootsie rolls in Bonnie’s grams house. “I’ve always been more of a cupcake girl, myself.”

     “The local pub... dur,” replied Finn incredulously, as if dumbfounded by her lack of knowledge. Surely, pubs weren’t an English thing, were they? There had to be pubs everywhere. “I suppose so. I dunno, really, can’t really describe ‘em.” At the mention of cupcakes, Finn’s face lit up ever so slightly, “Ah, you’re gonna fuckin’ love Greggs, then. Me mam loved Greggs, said they had the best custard slices she’d ever ‘ad. Swore by ‘em, she did.” There was a beat of silence -- just a single beat -- where Finn allowed his mother’s memory to consume him, before he pushed it away. It was so fast, he barely noticed it himself. “Anyways... what’s made you come over ‘ere, then?”

“Bollocks, people actually say that?” She could’ve pinched his cheeks. Mystic Falls was hardly a hotbed of cultural differences, deep in the middle of Virginia it was hard to find many people that didn’t seem to be exactly like herself. Coming to a place like this was a dream come true for her creative writing juices. “Stick of a rock? Am I going to need a North English dictionary or something?”

     “Yeah, ‘course we do! Tha’s, like, every other word down the local,” he replied easily, quite honestly milking all the novelty he could get out of this one. The fact that she had no clue what a stick of rock was broke a tiny piece of his heart, though. Everybody should experience those. “Yeah, no, they’re like these hard sweets that’re shaped like pencils that ain’t been sharpened, and they’ve got things written on them. Like, you’ll get them at the beach, and it’ll say, like, ‘Blackpool’ all the way though.” Never once in his life did he think he’d be standing in Scotland, of all places, explaining a stick of rock to an American. “They’re, like, the best.”

“oi, what’re you talking about?? i’m from england and i think there’s a few others as well.”

    “Nah, I don’t mean there’s, like, none. I just mean there’s a bollock-load of Americans here too. Just wasn’t expecting it, tha’s all.”

Elena couldn’t help but reciprocate the grin though she tried valiantly to suppress it. Her rubbish luck with guys; namely Matt in mystic falls hadn’t done much good for her flirting skills presently. “I don’t know, I mean, I’ll need to hear some English slang to be really impressed.”

     “Wha’, you mean like cockney and all tha’? ‘Coz I’m pretty sure nobody actually uses that bollocks. Not where I’m from, anyway.” Okay, he may be laying on the accent a bit thick, but it’s not like he has to try very hard; he’s a typical Northerner. “’Sides, that’s the south. I’m a Northerner through and through, me. Like a stick of rock.”

Suzuya knew nothing about geography, he didn’t know how far he was from home at all, hell for all he knew ‘t’north’ was a country of it’s own. But he nodded along with the boys work, he had a habit of pretending to know what people were talking about until he ended up embarrassing himself. It was hard enough for him to understand a lot of words alone, but with such a thick accent he was lucky to catch most of it. “Well… I’m Suzuya Juuzou.. And you are?” He could never remember customs like shaking hands ect, so he tended to skip them all together.

     The name alone was enough to, quite frankly, send Finn reeling. “You what, sorry?” he asked, trying to wrap his tongue around the name. He was used to easy, one or two syllable names -- Rae, Chop, Archie, Izzy; simple. Perhaps he was sheltered, very possibly ignorant. “I’m, uh, Finn. Finn Nelson.” And Finn was never really one for shaking hands; he ain’t a gentleman, and he ain’t trying to pretend to be one. He was more of a bond-over-a-pint-at-the-pub kind of guy, rather than a handshaker. So instead, all he added was a simple nod of acknowledgement. “So, uh, whereabouts are you from, then?”

“You obviously haven’t met many people then, majority of people here are British.” Suzuya shrugged, he’d never met a British person before he’d come here, he’d never met an American either. “You say your words like Jem does. But with less T’s…” He says, obviously curious.

     “Nah mate, don’t get me wrong, I ain’t been here long, so I dunno really,” Finn replied, shrugging his own shoulders in response. Coming from his tiny town in Lincolnshire, he was fairly sure he could safely say that the only non-British person he had ever met was Rae’s stepdad, the lollipop man. And so this influx of new accents was a little bit jarring to the mind. “I dunno who tha’ is, but she must be from t’north.”
