“There are quite a great many Berserkers around. How ominous.”

“ A - AYE … “ comes the soft and concise response . Gods , keeping up this facade hurts far more than it probably should . He loves his lord , and several nights did he find himself thinking about how wonderful it would be if things were just like they were before . But to have his pain swept under the rug … he cannot tell if Fionn was too ashamed to ever bring it up or too indifferent to the past to bother with it now . The past is long gone ; they have new lives now . The true issue , perhaps , is himself .
“ Well…in Chaldea itself ? Not much , if I’m honest . However , I hear that recently , there is a special event transpiring between servants , taking place in New York . Like coliseums of old , it seems the king of heroes is holding an event where servants are pit against each other in battles . Sounds kind of fun , but … I’d be lying if I wasn’t a little nervous to join . “
Was that a.. stutter? Since when did that happen? This was quite the new development to him. Back in the day, it’d be hard pressed to find anything that could make the man before him stutter, and in such a soft way, too.
Fionn was quiet, then. Staring at his friend, eyes searching his person for something; the confidence and pride and outgoing personality he held when they were alive. It seemed so.. worn down. Watered down. With a tilt of the head, he spoke again.
“The way you are acting is strange, don’t you think? How long have I known you for, Diarmuid, that you’d think I’d not notice how you shy from me? Surely, if you’ve got something to say, you wouldn’t hesitate to do so.” Of course, it could be his imagination, and if so, he’d absolutely apologize for making assumptions, but even for them.. this was a little too awkward.

“I suppose. Though it shouldn’t be all that surprising.”
"𝓉𝒽𝒶𝓉𝓈 𝓃𝑜𝓉 𝓉𝒽𝑒 𝒸𝑜𝓃𝒸𝓁𝓊𝓈𝒾𝑜𝓃 𝒾 𝓌𝒶𝓈 𝑔𝑜𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝓉𝑜 𝒷𝓊𝓉 𝓊𝓂....𝓎𝑜𝓊 𝓈𝒶𝒾𝒹 𝒾𝓉 𝓃𝑜𝓉 𝓂𝑒"-Andersen
“It’s true, sadly. The Irish and Scottish very seldom have good and wholesome endings to their tales.”

“Let’s not beat around the bush, it’s tragic because we’re Irish.”

Although he is very aware of his entire lifetime events, the troubles, he scandals, all that good stuff… he doesn’t particularly care about Gráinne. Sure, she is beautiful, and charming in the way every young woman should be, but because of his youthful summoning, he isn’t all that attached to her in general. He became betrothed to her when he was far older, and as such, it seems so far away and detached from how and who he is now.
Of course, he’ll flatter her and offer to protect her from dangers as he would any woman, but she is in no way special to him.
Contrary to his younger self, Older Fionn is quite spiteful. He still harbors a deep hurt and anger over what happened with Gráinne, and wouldn’t trust Diarmuid to protect his back should they fight side-by-side. Though he would be adamantly against it in the first place.
Of course, because he must be cordial, Fionn will treat Diarmuid with the basic amount of respect, but he would in no way trust the man with himself or any woman he may cross. What with that cursed mole and his inability to keep his dick in his pants, no woman is safe from him be they married or not.
That being said, he is also disgusted by Gráinne herself and sees her as less of a woman for running off with another man after being wed to one. He will ignore her both in and out of battle, and if forced to speak to her, will keep it curt , not bothering to show any form of respect. Why should he, to a woman who lowered herself and spread her legs to another man and caused the death of many.
A lowly woman for a lowly man.
How disgusting.
Older Fionn is now available upon request!

“Ah, hello there, young lady. How are you?”
Oh dear.
Sparkles loudly

Time to wander the halls and see what sort of mischief he can get into. Diarmuid seems busy, so he might as well entertain himself.
ashsear:
“Much quicker, actually. The fact I haven’t pulled out my weapon would astound most of my younger iterations.” He’s being very civil, considering who he is– keeping his voice nonchalant and not even concussing Fionn is pretty good for Cú’s record.
“The staff is good enough in place of a blade. Don’t underestimate me too soon. I’ll surprise you then.”
“Underestimate? Absolutely not. I simply thought it a shame you are unable to use your spear of legend. Even so, I’m sure you could shake even the mightiest of warriors. When I do face you, it must be when there will be no interruptions. I wish to win or lose in a fair battle.”
ashsear:
“Sure, but he sure isn’t gonna kick your ass any time soon. Too busy with the respecting heroes shtick. I thought it’d be a fun fight, but now you just kind of annoy me and it seems like it’d be a satisfying way to fix that.” He only bothers with so many ways to resolve being annoyed.
“If I were in the mood for it, surely. I wonder, were you always this quick to temper? How amusing. Regardless, I look forward to crossing blades... ah, that’s right, you don’t have one. Well, I look forward to sparing with you soon.”
“Quite the mouth on him. Well, the do say age shows in temper...”

SUCH profound glee at getting to meet a lost comrade certainly did not last very long , did it ? No … for even though the past may be swallowed , it always has a funny way of returning , especially whenever his lord was about , which is certainly part of the reason why he had been so nervous to approach him to speak . What does he say , now that he asks such a question so innocently ; as if he has completely forgotten what transpired during their final days together ? The part of him that remains wounded by it wishes to throw it in his face . The part of him that still loves his lord despite this would rather cast is aside .
“ N - no , my Lord . I’m not sure what everyone is making such a ruckus about . Perhaps Caster simply craves a fight with you , and is being protective of me because we’ve established a close friendship with each other . That , and … “ he trails off , hesitating to speak his next words in fear that he would upset him . Could he cushion the truth somehow ? “ … Well , it is simply that , just as it is with me , I fear not everyone may have the best opinion of you . “
“Oh, dear. That is quite troubling. But worry not, my dear friend. I have you and your company, and I treasure every moment we spend together. So, please, let us get along as we used to, yes?” Well, even though it bothered him that for some reason the people here had an unfortunately bad opinion of him, certainly he’d change their minds once he’d been here after a while. Yes, he was impossible to dislike for long.
“Now then, with the news out of the way, tell me. What is there to do here for entertainment? Surely you would know.”
