Chaotic transcipt of the Q&A parts of the live:

Q: Are there more Buck and Chris scenes A: Yeah, I think we have a scene in the first episode of the second half. So that's 5x11. Um, we definitely have a scene in episode 14? 13. I think it airs as 14. Uh, whatever- the episode is called Dumb Luck. There's a cool scene in there.

Q: What's your favorite scene you've filmed so far? A: You know one of my favorites of the upcoming things I think in episode 11 is a very very big rescue. That, uh, yeah I was looking forward to shooting that for a long time.

Q: he didn't read it but something about eddie/ryan leaving A: Uh, yeah. Ryan is still in the show. Um, you know he said he was going to leave the 118, but he's certainly not leaving the show. Uh, not at all.

Q: Are you (the audience) going to get your hearts broken? A: Uh, I don't know. It depends on what your heart desires. I suppose some people will and some people won't. But there's lots of cool story coming up that I think people will really like some of it. All of it.

Q: Which is your favorite one? The first half or the second half? A: Uh, I really like some of the stuff we're doing in the second half of the season. It feels really fun, but still hard hitting, so yeah, I'm very excited for that.

Q: How many more episodes? A: There will be 8 more episodes, so 18 for the whole season.

Q: Are Maddie and Chimney coming back? A: Uh, yeah! Maddie and Chimney are going back. Um, I think that's not a spoiler, because I think that's mostly common knowledge. Um, yeah within the first few episodes of the season they will be returning.

Q: Is this the final season? A: Uh, I don't know. You know we haven't been picked up yet, but I hope that does happen. You can continue to watch and it will certainly help our chances.

Q: Any Buck and Jee-Yun scenes? A: Yes! What episode is that- One of the first few episodes. It's my first one- well its the first one that- well actually I don't know if its going to make it to air. I assume it will, but we had one scene before, but uh yeah, the scene cut short before she came in.

Q: Uncle Buck scene? A: Yes, there is an Uncle Buck scene coming up. It was very fun getting to play with her. The various babies that they get to play Jee, they're all very very sweet.

Q: question about the crossover that he didn't read again lmao A: Yeah! I'd love to do another crossover. I don't know, we only have a few episodes left this season, and its difficult with covid regulations and everything. I know there's a struggle to cooridinate that, but I do think that there's some mini crossover action expected.

Q: Were you nervous to work with a baby? A: I was not. No.

Q: Will Abby come back? A: No, I do not believe Abby will ever be coming back.

Q: Would you ever explore the idea of Buck having ADHD? A: Yeah, back in the day when I was on Twitter, an account, you know, broke it down for me. The account I believe was somebody that had ADHD and how they felt represented in some of the choices and the impulses and decisions that Buck made and I felt that was really really cool. So, I think that would be a really lovely thing to get to explore with in the show. I don't know whether or not that would happen, but either way I think it's really lovely that people can see that being represented in some way. I know for that particular person back when we spoke about it, it was- these were traits that they didn't always see as a positive thing in their own life, but I think through the character were able to you know see it as, uh, attributes that really helped Buck be the hero that he is and hopefully you know see those in a much more positive light and I think that's a really lovely thing.

Q: What have you learned from playing Buck? A: You know I think he makes me a little bit braver. Like I do things for the show as Buck that as Oliver I would be very scared to do. There's a huge stunt coming up in episode, I think 14. I was- I think I was 235ft, maybe I'm making that up, but 235ft up in the air on a line, its a rope rescue, and I did it- I was on the 13th floor of this highrise building. Like me personally, I would be very scared to go up there, but there's something about doing it as Buck that I'm much more able to throw myself into it and do things that yeah, in real life-

(he cuts off and chuckles and says "I don't know if I identify as a menace" and I'm wheezing btw)

Q: something about fun Buck coming back A: Uh, yeah! I do believe that fun Buck is coming back. You will see more of fun Buck in the upcoming season. (he says in a sing-song tone btw).

Q: Favorite cast member to work with? A: I don't really like any of them. (brief pause). That's a joke. As I'm sure you know.

Exit speech: But yeah no listen, the season is coming back March 21st. I think there's some really cool episodes. I think some people will be really happy with some of the stuff we dive into. I think certain characters in particular are really going to get a chance to dive in and explore some of the trauma we've seen them experience over the past few seasons, which I think is a really lovely thing and a really necessary thing. So yeah, I think people will feel well served and I'm excited to have all of your eyes on it.

BUCK AND EDDIE — injury + recovery arcs

No matter if Eddie is leaving for real or not, this is going to fuck Buck up.

I know this is about Eddie doing what he thinks is best for Chris, but he really said "you're stuck with us" and then did a full one-eighty a few episodes later.

Buck is missing Maddie and Jee-Yun, Chim is also gone, and they're still not totally made up, and he has to know it's not quite working out with Taylor

Their lives are falling apart in perfect tandem.

Eddie tries to be perfect, tries to do whatever seems to be best for Chris at that moment. Buck clings onto the one person who hasn't left him yet, even if it doesn't quite feel right.

They are living right past each other when they need each other the most because they are just not talking about what they really need to talk about.

It's going to have to go all the way off the deep end before they finally find their way back to each other

This is only one of the things that implodes before we get to the final climax

the chain of events of eddie saying he has a date at the end of jinx to buck getting back in the dating pool in there goes the neighborhood to him meeting back up with taylor kelly in breaking point and saying he’s in therapy and thought this was going to be his year and that he “felt ready to meet someone” and when she says “ive met the people you work with your life is nothing but meaningful relationships” he follows it with “i don’t know…doesn’t seem the same” and this comes literally like 2 scenes after the “you’re home late” scene and BEFORE chris comes running to buck bc he’s mad at eddie and emotional abt ppl leaving him and he says “dads dating” and buck gives that face and slowly says “yeah that’s gotta be weird for you, huh?” like……………..that was bucks pining era i’m not kidding that man was quite literally head over heels for eddie at this point and i’m convinced was only dating bc eddie started dating. he thought it was gonna be his year bc he hoped he and eddie might have had a chance and Nobody can convince me otherwise. “it doesn’t seem the same” bc for a minute it DID and then eddie was dating again? and he COULD HAVE except eddie wasn’t ready to face that yet, not until he’d been shot and almost died again.

and it makes the end of the season and peoples speculation abt the will and what it means for buddie so much worse like. buck reading it as eddie drawing a line in the sand abt their relationship and eddie reading it as a love confession after miraculously living through something that should have killed him AGAIN and unable to walk away not letting buck know he loved him so much he trusts him to RAISE CHRISTOPHER…i just

Today @adamsparirsh and I are thinking about the will scene being Eddie’s love confession. Because what Eddie said, what he did by telling Buck about the will is literally irreversible. He cannot take it back. He basically said, “Look, you and me? We’re a forever kinda thing.”

But Buck’s always, always been a backup plan. He’s been floating around the idea that he’s in love with Eddie for years, since the tsunami. So why would now be any different, right?

Except Eddie did this a year ago. He changed his will after the well — why have we not considered that Eddie knew (in some vague way) for just as long as Buck did? I think Eddie’s been working up the courage to tell Buck about the will because it’s a love confession. You don’t hide something that big unless it means absolutely everything to you. And then Buck didn’t. get. that. so Eddie took it as a rejection.

And no wonder he stuck with Ana? No wonder he broke up with her when Buck talked to him (when it comes to Buck, has there ever been any other option?). No wonder it’s so awkward between them, because if the will was Eddie’s confession, and they can’t talk about the shooting without talking about the will, then—

#the line ‘that’s not how you talk about someone you’re in love with’#feels a little different#because eddie really just said it’s nice it’s nice it’s nice#about ana#and with buck it’s loaded words about trusting him with christopher#or knowing buck so well to know he had to stay in that burning building#or giving buck his son in the event of his death#but what he meant by that was i see you i know you i love you#and if anything were to happen to me#i don’t want either of you to be without each other#but buck didn’t get that because eddie didn’t say the words ‘i’m in love with you’#so he heard#you’re my back up plan because i don’t trust my family as much as you#which while a lovely sentiment#is exactly what eddie told buck in 3x03#so in buck’s mind that was regurgitated back to him#and now he’s wondering well if eddie marries someone else what if that gets taken away from me#the will almost felt like a rejection to buck#but buck’s lack of response and then subsequently dating taylor#felt like a rejection to eddie#holy shit boys you need to use your words
