The color of her cheeks went well with her hair.  ”I only tell the truth,” he commented before gently releasing her hand.  ”Will I be meeting you at the aquarium, or should I pick you up?”  He could arrange to rent a car for the day.  Between school and his intership, he hadn’t had the chance to spend a lot of his money on extra things.  On second thought, he should probably get a car.  He could always sell it whenever he left.  Where to start looking first…

"Oh no," she waved her hand. "Please don't go to any trouble. I don't mind meeting you at the aquarium," she smiled sweetly.

Time for Talking || Taiki and Kakyuu

Closing the door, Taiki locked it out of habit before turning back to her princess. She looked to her and found her words hitting close to home. As she started to talk, Taiki moved a bit closer hearing her words. It surprised her to hear it. So that was what she had missed while keeping a bit of distance and handling some of her things that night. “I should have sensed them that night. I’m not angry anymore about it, Kakyuu. I was when I first found the note to be honest.”

She looked down to her hands for a few minutes only to run her fingers over her knuckles. It was difficult not to fidget a bit. Finding her words again, her eyes found Kakyuu’s once more. “I was hurt and angry. Furious that you had just up and vanished on short notice. I ended up losing myself for quite sometime before the emotions ebbed away. The bitterness I felt for a spell cleared up when I remembered all of our duties tie back to the same thing, Kinmoku. I can’t fault you for it and I don’t feel any dark emotions about it any further. I just want to know what happened, and where you stand.”

Kakyuu kept her ruby eyes to the floor. She was too ashamed to lift them and meet the honest amethyst ones of Taiki. She had never thought of Taiki, Seiya or Yaten as her subjects. She thought of them as dear friends and trusted comrades. Between the three of them status didn't matter and the manner in which she had betrayed Taiki was inexcusable. Or at least she felt so. In fact she had been bracing herself for a harsh lashing of emotions. Lord knows its what she was feeling inwardly. "I'm sorry," she said with a deep sadness in her tone. "I never wanted to hurt you Taiki... that note was cowardly. I just wanted to protect you from anymore pain at my hand," tears began to well in her eyes.

Feeling her strength slip, Kakyuu set her palm against her forehead. "Kinmoku... it's nothing like this place, is it?" she asked giving a dark smile beneath the shadow of her bangs. "Here you and I could have had a life and not a single person in the world would have noticed. Our lives were ours here," tears began to stream down her cheeks. 

"Kinmoku's borders were being invaded. Given the fragile state of our planet our territory is prime for the taking..." she swallowed hard trying to hold back her tears. "Our main assailant was that of my late "lover" and declared war on Kinmoku unless..." she paused. Kakyuu shook her head some. "...Unless I marry their kingdoms crown prince," her words were hollow.

Time for Talking || Taiki and Kakyuu

Taiki hung up well enough and set to cleaning up the place a bit. There were stacks of papers three feet high at a time she had yet to filter through that she passed off to lay on her piano for the time being. She managed to tidy it up a bit before hearing the knock. In her button down black shirt, Taiki approached the door and answered it only to see Kakyuu. Her first reaction was to note her knees being wet. “Come in, here, I’ll fetch you a blanket and towel. You don’t need to catch a cold from it all.”

Her eyes were soft while looking down to her princess but Taiki kept things civil as always between them. There was no point to act wounded as she had gotten over the brunt of everything. Stepping back, she waited for Kakyuu to enter before she’d close the door and go and grab the items she said she would for her.

Taiki's eyes were more revealing than her tone. But Kakyuu wouldn't dare mention it given the situation. "It's alright," she said softly walking into the space. "They will dry out eventually," She looked around smiling remembering her first encounters in the condo but somehow the warmth in it all was distant. Kakyuu looked to Taiki again and kept her smile. She was hiding her sadness just as she always had. After all it was her duty to be civil for diplomacy sake but the princess felt this much harder to deal with.

"Taiki," she began, her voice low. "You have every right to be angry with me," her head lowered. "I should have told you in person about my leaving but I couldn't," her hands began to shake. "T-the kings guard, my fathers guard, came here to earth to collect me personally that night," she then glanced upward to Taiki.

"Of course! How rude of me. My name is Kakyuu… It’s lovely to make your acquaintance Daniel!" She lent out a hand to shake.

She was accustomed with the handshake?  Most Japanese women weren’t.  Taking her hand, he turned it and brought up to his lips and gave it a light kiss.  ”Pleasure meeting you, Kakyuu-san.”

Well that was strange. Kakyuu was used to this but from men in court not civilians. "Oh my, how sweet," she said softly. "You flatter me..." her cheeks flushed red.

"But isn’t this what girls on this planet do? I was told "Dating" was part of the normal earth girl experience."

Seiya, big hypocrite who has slept with countless girls she didn’t know at all.

"Not like this. First you find out their names, become friends, sloooowly, progressively. And then you date."

"But he was so nice… it would be rude not to accept," she twiddled her fingers.

"You are too sweet for your own good, My Princess." Seiya spoke gently. "But not everyone is that good. There are creeps everyone, people who want to seduce innocent women such as yourself and trick them.

I don’t know the guy, and you’re old enough to know what you want to do with your but be careful okay?”

"Well the same could be said for me couldn't it? What is to say I am not the "creep" bent on seducing innocent men? After all we can both agree that I am not the common Japanese woman," she giggled. 

Its okay. You know I don't like to worry you. I'll be careful, kay?

"Of course! How rude of me. My name is Kakyuu... It's lovely to make your acquaintance Daniel!" She lent out a hand to shake.

Taiki had sensed Kakyuu's return to Earth but had yet to really actively attempt to find her. Perhaps it was just her way of giving them both space after how awkward things had ended before? Either way, she was tired of waiting and decided to try and contact Kakyuu with a phone message. "Kakyuu, it's Taiki. I wonder if you'd like to talk sometime soon. There are somethings we need to figure out."

The machine had clicked and Taiki’s voice came through clear. Her heart skipped a beat and she swallowed hard at his words. Of course Taiki knew she was back on earth. There was a connection between them that seemed to force its way across the galaxy. She took in a heavy breath and could feel the stabbing pain of the cold air in the apartment in her lungs. Biting her lower lip, Kakyuu summoned every ounce of courage she had and reached for the phone before the machine could cut off. “Taiki!” she breathed in a desperate tone. Tears started to well up in her eyes. “T-Taiki…?” she asked again, her voice more shaky.

Kakyuu’s guilt was like a weight on her shoulder. She listened and the pain in Taiki’s words were clear. How did it get this far? Kakyuu knew that she was to blame for the heart ache. She should had known that the intoxicating freedoms of earth were not welcome to her or her starlights. Their home was Kinmoku where Kakyuu was a princess and Star Maker her protector and just that. “I can’t ask for forgiveness, Taiki. But there are things you deserve to know,” her voice was still shaky. “I don’t want to inconvenience you any further… I can meet you at your condo if you don’t mind my going there,” she looked outside to the rainy weather.

"I do not mind you coming here. My door is always open to you." She had always said that to Seiya and Yaten as well. "I know, and I want to know them only when you are comfortable enough to tell me. I don’t fault you for it. I’ll wait for you, always you know." Taiki rose from her couch only to glance to the large windows that lead to her balcony. The rain pounded hard against it but she let out a softer sigh. They had to smooth things out between them both or it would threaten to leave an awkward crack in their connection.

The invitation was reassuring but Kakyuu knew the truth that lead to this circumstance would not be one Taiki, Seiya or Yaten would favor. Feeling a new sense of determination, Kakyuu readied herself to explain, in detail of the circumstances in which she was bound to now. Not saying anything the princess rose from her bed and changed into leggings and long sweater rosy sweater dress. She borrowed rain boots and an umbrella and set off for Taiki's condo. 

The streets were empty making it quicker for the red head to make her way to the complex. Catching a man coming out of the gate she flashed an innocent smile and made her way up the stairs. Her knees were soaked so the heating in the building did little to warm her. Then again she doubted anything would. She reached Taiki's door and knocked softly holding her breath till she answered.

  Taiki heard the sound and it registered to her but she kept composed on the line as best as she could manage. “You could have talked to me, you know that. What’s done is done. I can’t change how it all played out, but I need to know something. Just where do we stand with one another now?” While Taiki had managed to heal from the immense sting left behind from her princess, she knew it was her duty. Duty was what ruled them all but it was a bitter thing to swallow at times.

"We need to figure this out and I can meet you anywhere of your choosing. I’m currently at my condo so it wouldn’t hurt me to leave to meet you."

Taiki hadn’t expected an easy return to her call but paused to hear Kakyuu’s voice reach her ears. “It’s me.” she murmured softly only to feel her own heart clench hard in her chest. Her voice was real, and soothing despite how they had left things go in the past. “I’m sorry I haven’t contacted you sooner. I just needed time to sort myself out a bit.” In truth it was more a factor of Taiki not falling apart at the sound of Kakyuu or at the sight of her. After all, it was the princess who had left the starlight crippled and crying on the floor the night she merely vanished.

A whimper came from the other end and Kakyuu was quick to cover her mouth. Strength was slipping from her composure and the tears began to stream down her cheeks. "No... I-I'm sorry," she said through choked breath. "I should have come to you," Kakyuu felt her shoulder slump in defeat. How could she even say something so foolish? Just to see her as though nothing had happened. "I-if that's alright I mean," Kakyuu began to shake.
