Wearing blue velvet at the post-hardcore show.. like a boss. Shhhh nobody knows I'm trying to be mysterious and evoke the David Lynch movie, all their seeing is me busting my ass while moshing.
being a kid and hearing adults say stuff like "woah 2011 was 4 years ago haha" didn't really convey the fucking horror of a youtube video crossing my recommended labelled "9 years ago" and it's from 2017. that's not true. 9 years ago is 2010 or something. don't lie.
Rws are kind of testing the grounds of what’s acceptable and what’s not. They are conservative. So,believe me, if it wasn’t for a massive outrage of people about AI,they would be okay with Bullet Paradise.Hell, they would be okay with Postal 3 if people did not boycott it!But since they do not want to lose the majority of their auditory, which is left leaning, they play pretend to cater to us.No AI, Dude is bi, supports trans rights, etc.
It’s better they at least pretend to be supportive of us than they would be full blown MAGA, but it’s important to know they aren’t truly on our side. They do that because left leaning people bring them more money than right wingers do.The other way around and we’d have KKK unapologetically in the game and “Fuck Liberals” on the Rws site banner.
So I have recently really gotten into The Pitt. I'm about a quarter through season two at the moment, and what drew me to the show was what I had heard about the way it portrayed mental health.
Now that I've watched it I can say with confidence that this show handles some pretty serious subjects quite well, which I enjoy! What I have not enjoyed as much though is what I have found outside the series itself. That being the fandom.
But wait, before you roll your eyes at me (i can hear you thinking "wow new fan and you already wanna involve yourself in discourse?"), maybe hear me out, this might be a frustration you also share. Keep in mind it's only a certain area of the fandom I find myself uncomfortable with, not the community as a whole! I bet most of you are incredibly pleasent people.
What I find myself troubled with is-
- the way I see some fans speak about Frank's addiction. I noticed many people acting a bit ignorant, detached from what addicts go through in the real world.
At first I was so happy to see representation that felt grounded, to see such unfiltered emotions and reactions from the characters. I thought to myself that it may humanize addicts more to audiences! Show them that anyone can fall victim to the disease. But, I have seen sort of the opposite. I was shocked to see so much fetishization and mocking of Langdon's problem online, it genuinely caught me off guard.
Honestly, I may just be overly sensitive to this behavior. I've been told I can't take a joke. But, yknow, I care about and love SO many addicts in real life. They are my friends, my family, my mentors, my world! I have volunteered at my local outreach center countless times, I've accompanied people to NA meetings, courts, drug tests, visited multiple loved ones in prison. I have been through all the emotions of seeing someone I love struggle with substance abuse, the lies, betrayals, and apologies. I've seen the painful parts of recovery most people don't talk about.
I have witnessed alot.
And that's something that pulled me into Langdon's character, it felt nice to a protag who had a problem that so many people suffer alone with. Numerous addicts feel so ashamed about their disorder, scared to get help or even admit to their problem. It was amazing to see that represented. I loved how he wasn’t demonized but wasn't patronized either. Like I said, it felt real.
Frank made a horrible mistake, not something that can be or should ever be excused by his problem. He messed up big time, but it didn't define him as a person, it simply contexualized his behavior. He faced consequences yet was still encouraged to get better. I love that!
This show was so empathetic when covering a vast array of mental illnesses, at some points it made me tear up. The mere mention of McKay's past formed a lump in my throat. The pride she had in her sobriety, the joy you saw on her face when she was with her kid, it hit so close to home.
It just brings me down to see addiction be brushed off as something funny or turned into something sexy to certain fans. It just hurts my heart.
Anyhowwww, you're probably either already gone or just about done hearing me complain so I'll cut it here. Thanks for listening to those who did, I like talking about this subject, maybe even educating people a little?? No? Okay, well, enjoy the rest of your scrolling today friend!
playing through the og silent hill 2...why does james sunderland look like he's gonna start hootin and hollerin about thanking someone for the memories even though they weren't so great
Hi hi guys, here's my peice for an art trade I did with my super talented mutual @voidzombieart !! They let me choose a drawing of theirs to remake, and naturally, I went for a Silent Hill one. (I will include the original under the cut)
I am not an artist who is particularly focused on realism but I wanted to try something new and it was quite fun! I heavily relied on references of Cameron Diaz to get her face the way I wanted, I'm sure that's atleast a little obvious?
I'm also someone who almost exclusively does lineart, I hate coloring and shading so I learnt a whooole looot from this. I also panicked a lot because at some points this looked SOO uncanny, my file even corrupted halfway through! But we got her done! Hooray!!!!
My favorite male singer? Oh yeah- let me give you some hints!
His name starts with a J and he's got really big spikey hair (usually dark but hes put color in it before), he's apart of a band known for their use of synth and guitars, heavy on the synth. The bands name starts with an M and is usually shortened down to three letters by fans. Their heyday was in the 2000s and although they weren't super mainstream they did do shows with some pretty big bands, like My Chemical Romance. They are quite popular with the mentally ill. Their music can sound upbeat but if you really listen to the lyrics they're pretty depressing.
He's dabbled in acting before but it never really went anywhere big. He's now in his 50s and him and his wife became parents a little later in life than others. They've been married for a good bit over 10 years, but not 20 just yet.
Fans are hoping for another album.
Sooo, what's your guess? .....oh.. HIM? You think it's that guy? No way they're so different, let me put them side by side so can you can see how wrong you are.
The reason why so many of y'all's feminism sucks is because you still believe deep down in your hearts that there are only two kinds of people in the world: precious, ethereal, fragile dollthings called "women", and violent, lustful, rage-fueled apes called "men". Until you throw that idea away, 3rd-grade-tier "girls rule boys drool, girls are princesses and boys are stinky :(" is as feminist as we'll ever get-- and I hope it's obvious that that's lightyears away from the bare minimum of where we need to be.
I’m gonna do an experiment. I’m going to look up for Laura Palmer playlists and if I see mainly cutesy #Girlmath Lana girlblogging music I will be very disappointed.
I'm someone who obsessively makes playlists about everything. So, naturally, I've been working on a Laura one! Here are some of my favorite songs that I correlate with her.
This is one of my top movies of all time, I've watched it repeatedly, I can quote scenes verbatim, and it even got me to delve into Tim Robbin's filmography.
And AUGHH this is so true, barely any fan content out there! I feel that I must start seriously producing some fanart & fanfic in hopes of somewhat feeding the few enthusiasts it's got. I find that most people who have watched it aren't necessarily looking to get into fandom. But some of us are!!!
I am a bit weary of writing "x readers" and those sorts of things though, mostly due to my fear that they will be read by individuals who haven't completed the film. This is a movie best watched sans context. Spoilers can be incredibly detrimental to a viewers first watch, since a good chunk of the magic would be lost. That's not to say that when you do finish it for the first time it's not something you should go back and watch again. Quite the opposite! The rewatch value of this is throoough the roof!! But everyone's first go around with Jacob's Ladder should be with virgin eyes.
Anyways... erm this is a must watch for ALLLL Silent Hill fans. Especially you James Sunderland fanatics, the parallels are soooo delicious..
I start my morning with 3 hours of playing Silent Hill 2, and then I move onto 3 more hours of the re-make. For lunch I rewatch Jacob's Ladder and write a twelve page analysis focused exclusively on the bathtub scene. For the evening I enjoy some cherry pie whilst getting to finally watching the Blue Rose Cut of Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me. When I go to bed I cuddle up between my life-sized Dale Cooper and James Sunderland handstiched body pillows. The thread in which they are sewn with is made from David Lynch's discarded hair that has been collected from his barber for decades.
I was enjoying my beautiful cup of ice cream when I looked over at my irl, grass-touching, bff, and they had just started playing deftones whilst switching tabs to a pinterest page covered in MEN MAKING OUT
