you know, considering how many times rich people are mentioned as sinful in the Bible versus how many times homosexuals are mentioned as sinful in the Bible, it’s really funny how I’ve never seen entire Christian organizations go out of their way to criticize, boycott, or deny services to rich people…

We honestly need to be more aware of how we use language that demonizes and stigmatizes psychotic people in our day-to-day language. I can say as someone who has struggled with psychosis that I have felt demonized in social justice spaces due to ill thought-out word choice.

honestly if what you mean is uncaring, manipulative, evil, harmful, or violent, then SAY THAT WORD. if you aren’t talking about someone who is prone to experience distorted reality then you don’t mean psychotic. conflating psychotic with evil does so much harm to a vulnerable group.

Thank you for the list of better words to use! I know “psycho” and “psychotic” are commonly used in my workplace (not even describing Negative Traits, just describing a dog that is hyper or plays a little more rough than the others, so it’s really not accurate at all). 

But what are some other words to be aware of and avoid?
