About a month ago, I had the pleasure of meeting the subject of many a terrifying story while I was on the front lines. Her name is Glory.
Glory, for those of you who do not know, Â was the leader of the Crimson Justice, and also had ties with the Bounty Hunters guild within the area of North Colebrook. During the bone war, she was turned in to a Greater Ghoul... which made her one of the most terrifying creatures under Zardonâs control. I never saw her in this form myself, but I had heard many a tale.
Rumor has it that she was able to turn in to a black ichor, and ooze through cracks in doors and walls. It was also said that she had three rows of teeth, and that her eyes would glow red at night, and meeting this gaze would paralyze you on the spot. Of course, most of this was just tales spread from North Colebrook to the front lines, so I am unsure what exactly is truth and what is just a tall tale.
I have my reservations about her. I am aware that she stood trial for her actions as a greater ghoul, and had paid her dues... but something still never sat quite right with me. Rumor has it that Greater Ghouls still have control over their own mind... so how much of her... genocide was her own doing, or the will of Zardon?
In any case, She had shown up in North Colebrook. The way she composed herself.... it was not one of someone who is seen as a monster, but that of a person who is proud of their work. As a member of the guard, I had approached her to find out the reason for her visit, and it had to do with Cultists in the area attacking innocent people. From the wary look she gave me, I must have had a telling look on my face that I did not trust her. That being said... she was not what I expected at all. In fact, when I was escorting her to the guard barracks, the first thing she said to me when we were alone was, âSo, youâre not going to stab me in the back are you?â
I feel that at that moment, my reservations about her actions as a Greater Ghoul had melted away. I had the strong feeling that it may not have been her will to attack the people of North Colebrook, but that of Zardon. However, She is not someone you want to come across in the dark forest late at night, greater ghoul or not.
Having spent hours with her on missions and working together to find more information about the cultists, I feel that the creature she once was is long dead, and left behind is a person who regrets her actions, and has payed for her crimes.Â
