@porange made some ReGenesis kit, and after a passing comment from me, expanded the light-up sections to include some framing for the head (glowing skirts by themselves can look a little unbalanced, to my eye). This involved blaming me a lot, since it was apparently quite tedious to work with. So the least I could do was take some photos of the finished article.

ReGenesis III: Legacies of Eternity. Pop up studio portraits at a high-concept UK LARP. Revisiting the three-light setup that I first tried at event II, back in March - and I think it’s a little more refined this time. It’s always a little awkward justifying studio shots at a larp event... but if any game can sustain it, it’s this one - and being able to guarantee a decent shot of any player who cares enough to sit for one goes a long way to assuaging disappointment.

A while back, @lil-miss-choc asked me a while back if I’d try shooting her in a 40s pin-up style - for a bunch of reasons, but mostly because she’d promised pictures to Nina, who the costume was a present from. It took a while, but we finally met up in the incredibly apposite Felixstowe, and here you go. Mostly an exercise in post-processing, and in some ways I’m leaning a lot more on the 70s than the 40s, here, with colour shifts and visual artefacting more appropriate to that wave of nostalgia, rather than the airbrushed perfection of the 40s images - but I felt like it needed to be in colour, and wasn’t confident of getting the 40s colour styles quite right.

(Incidentally, as well as the usual levels and curves, dodge and burn, and Nik Tools to get a retro look, I’ve also applied moderate skin smoothing, in keeping with the style I was emulating, but that’s it for “photoshopping” these images.) I’d stick something inspirational here - but instead, go look at that grin again. Says it all.

Portrait shoot at the Greencloaks Delmont Sanctioned. Having some fun with coloured filters - the fill is a stripbox lit by two internal speedlights, and I gelled them differently. Rather happy with the blended effect.
