Look This is Gonna sound Weird. But please. Settle this controversy. Is OJ a capitalist? Is there anything in the show that suggests OJ from Inanimate insanity is or is not a capitalist? -š¦¶
Ok ok. So fair warning: Iām an object show analyst. Not a political major. So this isnāt really my strong suit. And I may get some things wrong here. Still, I tried my best. And I hope this is satisfactory.
Is OJ from inanimate insanity a capitalist
Simple answer? No. Not at all, actually.
So starting off letās make sure weāre all on the same page about what capitalism is.
At its purest form capitalism is: āan economic and political system in which a country's trade and industry are controlled by private owners for profit, rather than by the stateā
What this means is that private business owners are allowed to control their own business and the profit it gives them. Those who are in favor of capitalism (aka: capitalists) are often centered on personal economic growth, and growth of the economy.
It is common for both millionaires and landlords to be capitalists, because capitalism often economically benefits them.
So why wouldnāt OJ be a capitalist?
Well first off letās get two things clear. Heās not actually a landlord. And heās not a typical millionaire.
OJ, after winning inanimate insanity, uses his winnings to provide a home to his friends and loved ones, and later extends that to providing housing to all eliminated contestants of inanimate insanity season 2. Including those who he does not wish to provide housing to, such as Balloon. Despite being referred to as a āhotelā, hotel OJ serves as permanent, free housing.
OJ is not a typical millionaire, and may no longer be a millionaire at all. As he was only given a single one million dollars, and was not born into/over time gathered millions of dollars. Heās not a typical rich person because heās not continuously gaining wealth. He only won a million dollars that he could use however he wanted.
So capitalism wouldnāt necessarily benefit OJ, as he doesnāt invest his money into a business that would allow him to continue gaining wealth. Andwhile technically thereās nothing there that says he Canāt be a capitalist, his actions seem to line up more with the ideals of a Different economic system.
Communism.
Communism in its purest definition is a political theory that leads to a society in which all property is publicly owned and each person works and is paid according to their abilities and needs.
This means that under communism, while thereās little to no ability for economic growth, each person is given what they need in order to survive. Many communist believe that people should be provided with free housing and food, as these are things needed in order to survive.
This is something that clearly aligns with OJās beliefs, as he shares his money with everyone, gives them all a place to live, is shown to buy groceries for everyone, and individually provides for everyone in the hotel.
So no. Iād say OJ is not a capitalist. If he does have a political and economic ideology, it would most likely be communism. As he actively engages in communist ideals.
Hope this helps!
i just want you all to know
they went to a con!!!
