I did end up getting in a workout yesterday! Also I went home for a few hours before & after the gym, and during the latter I made myself dinner—another win. Just my usual easy healthy meal of a chicken thigh, peas, and rice.

Ignoring the gaps in cooking for myself, when I have made this usual meal the last handful of times, I've switched to peas from broccoli. I love broccoli but I remembered loving peas in childhood despite never having them as an adult, so I made the switch and it's been delicious! Plus I can use frozen peas which means I can keep everything on hand for months at a time since I also use frozen chicken thighs, and both minute rice & regular rice last forever (I just don't like broccoli when it's cooked from frozen). Which is why I could just whip it up one random night after a long gap without going to the store 😌

I'm off work for the third of three days today since I have class later. Going to head home beforehand though because I want to get some laundry going, plus I might start to bring home a few things since I'm only dog sitting for another ~48 hours. In the final stretch! While it's been nice to be in the familiar home of D's family and surrounded by both his history plus some of our history, and to be in my own childhood neighborhood, I really miss our home 🥺 It's been nice to visit during the day but I'm really missing sleeping there and everything else of just actually living at home lol. But after today I have work tomorrow afternoon/night, then I'm back here just for a sleep before I open on Saturday morning. I think I'll be off work just an hour or two before they land so I don't think I'll even need to come back after that.

I think one of the gentlest things in the world is when a friend just gets your weird little brain. like you say half a sentence and they finish it. you reference something incredibly niche from seven years ago and they’re already nodding. they understand your strange vocabulary for emotions that don’t have real words yet. it’s being seen and known and still loved. maybe especially because you’re known. god. what a gift.

Off work again today, but no official plans so far. Class yesterday was okay, it was just review of the reading we had to do beforehand basically. Unfortunately the teacher, who is a very sweet almost-elderly lady, had a tendency to trail off, lose her place, go off topic, etc. And when she was actually on topic, she was kind of monotonously reading the material. But it was good to get the more important content reinforced and the class was using the chat to either talk amongst ourselves or to ask her questions. Our Thursday classes are referred to as labs though so we'll see what that will be like tomorrow!

I'm thinking at least one priority I should have today is to exercise. I'm feeling so so weak and winded lately, I hate it. Since I was sick and then I hurt my neck (plus some healthier days where I just couldn't get it done for whatever reason), my most recent workout was July 22... And on top of that, that was a "finally back" workout since the next most recent workout was June 25... I was out of town or too busy for about 7-10 days in early July, but that doesn't account for all that time 😅 I want to go to the gym to lift but I also think I'll take Milo for a little walk, I haven't done that yet since I've been dog sitting him (they said doing so was totally optional, if I had time/if I wanted to. He's a lil guy and the house & backyard are sizeable).

Another thing I hadn't been able to do due to being sick & my neck was bowl, and the summer pass thing ends on September 1st. But D and I went after my class last night and it was a fun time! Good to be back but I did horribly lol (and I'm not even good to begin with); even though I'm not sick and my neck is (mostly) better, I have a nasty little but deep cut at the tip of my right middle finger which made bowling all the more difficult because how much it hurts. Why is the universe against me bowling (& exercising) lately?! 😩

I've been wanting to get my diet back in order too as I mentioned recently. I can't really do a full grocery run right now since I don't want to bring it all here nor just leave it at home while I'm not staying there, but I could get a couple things just to tide me over until I'm done here on Saturday. Honestly I could just make a single recipe that gives me leftovers (I already have decently nutritious snacks). I may not be home but I still have a nice kitchen in a very familiar house.

First day off work since pet sitting so instead of spending the day at work I can spend the day at home with D and Puck. I did stop by before work yesterday and was able to be here for about an hour and a half. It's so nice being home 😭 I love my home and the living creatures within it 🥹💞

In a few minutes I'm gonna go into the live lecture for my medical coding/billing class! I never said anything about having had our orientation last Tuesday. Since that wasn't actual class work and they want class work to start at the beginning of the week, we didn't have anything on Thursday. And today is the first official for real class-class! I did have homework already to do reading and a quiz and I did indeed get that done; my first homework in 9 years. 😅 Seems like a good teacher and a good cohort though—someone set up a discord channel right away (and they did a really good job with it) and we all seem eager to learn and collaborate and support each other.
