crack fic idea: fate/stay night, but shirou transitioned prior to the story because prior The Talk with kiritsugu, taiga made shirou watch a magical girl anime with her, causing shirou to permanently associate "heroism" with "magical girls"

kiritsugu unintentionally cementing shirou's desire to Save People and shirou's insane logic causes the conclusion to get twisted around. "Wanting to save people" -> "Magical Girls Save People" -> "I need to get better at magic" + "I need to be a girl"

Tohsaka realizes this about halfway through the war and tries to unravel that thread of logic but it's too late, shirou's already been exposed to saber, a paragon of heroism who is both a girl and can magically change into her armor. tohsaka isn't convincing her of anything.

purely coincidentally, this does mean that archer is a hot lesbian with a slightly more magical girl-esque outfit, and rin has been speedrunning discovering her own sexual preferences

i need to clarify: shirou (and archer) is perfectly happy in her gender. but shirou's gender is entirely uncoupled from her transitioning. they had nothing to with each other. it is simply what passed for logic in her incredibly confusing worldview.

in the timelines where shirou is trans but didn't watch magical girl shows, she would not have transitioned, because she really wouldn't consider her own crippling dysphoria to be that bad, because the fuyuki fire has irrevocably distorted her common sense.

peer reviewing these tags because they are a wonderful addition, and also adding that "shirou transitioned but archer didn't, and that is yet another thing that archer is intensely bitter about" combined with "wait she transitioned for THAT reason???" is an angle i didn't think about but is perfect. this version of shirou would make archer want to chew fucking concrete.

before rin figures out who archer is she accuses them of being a transphobe and archer has to go into astral form to just incoherently scream for a bit

Firefox 148 rolls out with the promised AI kill switch: here's how to enable it

The "Block AI Enhancements" toggle was originally introduced in Firefox 148 Nightly in January following significant community backlash afte

The Firefox "AI kill switch" is here.

Go to Settings > AI controls. There, you can toggle the "master kill switch" on to fully block all the features, which means two things:

you won't see them,

you can't even be asked about them.

The default state is, like before, "available". This means the features are NOT on by default (they never were), but Firefox will let you know about them where they exist (e.g. when you create your first tab group) so that you can choose to opt in.

Please note that Firefox for Android or iOS have never included AI features, so you won't see these settings on your smartphones or tablets.

Please also note that, unlike popular belief here on Tumblr, besides "chatbot in sidebar" (which is simply embedding the same page you'd have normally browsed to), none of these features have ever interacted with anything outside your PC, because they download a small model to your computer, to do everything locally. These small models have never been and are not downloaded until you explicitly agree to turn on one of the features.
