( cult tw ) born cameron joanna fields, she spent her first couple years in her hometown of duluth, minnesota. things were relatively normally until her younger siblings lila and drew came along. she was eight when her parents uprooted cam and her siblings to greendale. this was the same cult sabrina was a part of.
cameron doesn’t really know what was the driving force in the move aside from ideology. looking back, she thinks it was largely due to financial security. she comes from a working class family, who did live paycheck to paycheck.
her family was not ranked high in the cult, but her father definitely benefited from the patriarchal system. before joining, her parents were always very traditional in that nature anyways.
long story short, cameron did not believe in the cult’s teachings. she felt helpless a lot of the time. her mother and siblings were fully immersed in it alongside her father, michael. her saving graces were two older children and sabrina spellman.
the older two children were dana and ian. four years older than her, they took her under their wing. if they hadn’t left the cult, perhaps she wouldn’t eventually escape herself.
sabrina was her age and would become her best friend. she was the only one who she told about her plan to leave the cult behind.
finding out sabrina would eventually leave too was some of the best news fields had gotten in a long while.
( death tw ) a few months before her seventeenth birthday, her mother mysteriously past away. while her relationship with her father is permanently scorched, cam did love her mother. she knows her death was no accident and she finally had enough.
upon turning seventeen, she left the cult. leaving at the dead of night, she was able to contact dana who had briefly settled in the southside.
dana stayed in riverdale for another two months and helped cam find a waitress job so she could try to support herself.
currently, cameron has been in riverdale for about a year and a half now residing in the southside. she rents out a room from a single mother, melissa. ( she vaguely reminds her of her own mother. ) they coexist and don’t talk about cam’s past or melissa’s job.
if she isn’t working, she’s at school catching up on lost time tbqh.
she’s rather closed off and doesn’t trust easily because of her past.
but please give her some love bc she needs some in her life.
