I know I said I’d take a few days off, and I am WHOLLY aware we are now 18 months further down the line since I said that. But Rutag has me in a death grip once more, and it will not let me go. 

Thankfully the next chapter is about 80% done so...with any luck I’ll get this damn thing finished once and for all.

Not me sheepishly opening my After the Fall master doc with the expectation that past me wrote a decent chunk of the next chapter.

Sorry if you’re waiting for something resembling an update for After the Fall. I watched the Doctor Who Christmas special and my hyper-fixation switched immediately so now I’m listening to the Shepherd’s Boy on repeat and trying not to let it show on my face while I’m on the tube.

When I have written the very last word of the very next chapter, then the first second of eternity will have passed.

But it will come.

Just had the most diabolical thought about Eleven and Clara.

If Clara is scattered across his timeline and he spends hundreds of years on Trenzalore, does that mean once every eighty or so years a new Clara is born who grows up to fight that war with him and grow old with him? Does he grieve her death a dozen times before she’s even finished with Christmas? Does he live all those lifetimes with her to the point that four billion years will later feel like nothing in comparison to all those years he spent with her in a battlefield?

Is that why he regenerates into an older man devastated by war? Because that’s who he was on Trenzalore and each Clara loved him just as much as the first, the last, and the next?

There is a Whouffle WIP in my files that I periodically come back to and think about writing but am paralysed by the need for perfection because I actually really love the idea and am worried I won’t be able to execute it half as well as it appears in my head.

So with that in mind: it’s 1am, I’m going to get a glass of milk, eat a piece of cheese, and see what I can do about it.

You know, like one of those healthy, disciplined writers.
