After the What Was Lost side quest with Kotallo.. yes, to me it was their first date :3 coz a sense of closeness seems to have formed between them with how they talk to each other at the Base after the mission.. and this is how I would’ve wanted their meetings to be.. its been living in my head rent-free since then. le sigh.

After a week away on a mission, Aloy returns to the Base and makes a beeline for the game room where the only person she wants to see at the moment is.

Aloy: “Hey” Kotallo: “Finally you’ve returned!” Aloy: “Miss me?” Kotallo: “You already know my answer.”

He pulls her close to him with his arm around her waist and gives her a slow and languid kiss, as she slides her arms around his neck, melting in his embrace and returns his kiss passionately. She missed him too.

Kotaloy is love, Kotaloy is life, but I gotta say... The fandom did Avad a bit dirty. Like yeah it's quite likely that he's not right for Aloy, but he doesn't really wanna "make her his queen" at the start of Forbidden West? And he's gotten his people to make concessions where possible to make her more comfortable? (limited welcome, a smaller statue).

He says he doesn't want to keep the throne and see the world, perhaps join her on her adventures (granted, he doesn't really know the nature of those, but she also hasn't really explained it to anyone at this point) so like... He pretty much wants to interact with her on her terms??

Idk, Kotallo remains my main man but Avad is good. He's a good boy and I like him. I hope he does get to travel the world, with or without Aloy.

I feel for Avad and understand him completely. He has never aspired to the throne but felt obligated to it without a choice when he needed to overthrow his own father. From his conversations with Aloy in HZD game and the story that Erend tells Aloy about the Liberation from the HZD comics, Avad has lost a lot, his brother’s execution by their own father Jiran, to killing Jiran, dealing with Ersa’s death, plus making sacrifices all for the sake of restoring the Sundom. It’s a heavy burden to bear for someone who never wanted to be king. The way he said in HFW that when Itamen comes of age he hopes to step aside, free of the crown.. To me that’s raw emotion right there. And after he first met Aloy and how she continued to do things selflessly to save the world, the Sundom and his family in the process, I perfectly understand why he started to fall in love with her and offered if she would consider staying in Meridian. If only to have something good that wasn’t forced on him and a constant inspiration for him to go on with the pressures of being a king by having someone like Aloy by his side. I mean, it is quite understandable from a person in love’s POV. But he doesn’t force her coz he knows Aloy has far greater responsibilities. Besides, the conversation was a flashpoint anyway, even in HZD, and you have a choice whether to turn him down or not. Tho IMO i kinda felt the ‘confrontation’ choice was a bit harsh and rude from Aloy’s part. I always choose compassion simply because i feel it is more of Aloy’s character.. Plus Avad is a good man. He only means well. He’s been straight out polite actually. Also, his VA Josh Keaton, has a sweet and kinda soothing voice too. It kinda helps to reconsider being rude to someone like him. :)
