Sketch of a Sengoku Era Chatelaine Discovered

KYOTO— A sketch of the presumed chatelaine to Azuchi Castle was discovered hidden deep within storerooms of the historical site last Thursday.

The woman pictured played a critical role throughout the Sengoku era. Little is known about the chatelaine; she is depicted many times in various works of art created by vassals inspired by her beauty, though the sketch discovered was the clearest.

“She was an enigma,” explains historian Kitagawa Shiro. “We have nothing about her early life until she appeared out of nowhere in 1582. One day it was as if she didn’t exist and the next she was the chatelaine of Azuchi. It’s like she just materialized out of thin air.”

As chatelaine, she was known as determined and resilient, unlike many women at the time.

“Even more baffling than her sudden presence is the [size of] presence it was. She was known to question even the brutal Nobunaga. Even his closest vassals grew to trust her. Many of her handmaidens described her as lively, feisty, and a little frisky.” Kitagawa describes with a laugh. “As a child, I remember reading much about her from the journals of well-known Oda allies [such as Tokugawa Ieyasu, Akechi Mitsuhide, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, Date Masamune, and Ishida Mitsunari], who knew her as a close friend despite their initial distrust of her. I believe many of them even tried to romance her, though accounts say that these were rarely successful.”

Her fate is unknown, though her presence in art and literature decreased greatly after the three months following Oda Nobunaga’s assassination attempt at Honno-ji. The creator of the sketch is unknown. The sketch is planned for display at the Museum of Kyoto beginning November.

“She really is a piece of history,” Kitagawa says. “So little is known about her today, and I think that is her allure. Even with all the art and firsthand accounts of her from Nobunaga’s vassals and Nobunaga himself, she remains a puzzle. Discoveries like these give us a glimpse of the mysterious chatelaine. We get to know her just a little better, and I believe that that is truly a miracle.”

Hooray for fake journalism! These are always fun to write. This piece came into existence from my lack of sleep and also my refusal to believe that MC wasn’t engraved into history in some way, shape, or form. I love thinking that pieces of her are just uncovered through the years and eventually she becomes this mysterious presence who excites historians everytime they learn a little more about her. Sorry for any historical inaccuracy! It was mostly written out to the IkeSen prologue. T_T

Harry was completely against the party. Not just because of the promise of humiliating drinking games, but the drinking itself too and the whole having to get out of bed thing. Especially the whole having to get out of bed thing. He’d managed to avoid the last six weeks of eighth year gatherings by hiding in his wonderfully warm sheets with the invisibility cloak on top. But now Ron had finally caught on and he wasn’t taking no for an answer.

“I know why you’re hiding, mate.”

“I’m not hiding.”

Ron pulled back the invisibility cloak. “Then what’s this for?” Harry tried to grab the cloak back but Ron held it out of reach. “You can’t keep avoiding him.”

“I’m not avoiding h– anyone. I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“Then get dressed.”

Sneaking out of the dormitory at midnight felt silly. It was so late, they should’ve been sneaking back in. But that’s how the gatherings were always scheduled. In the dead of morning when even Filch wasn’t roaming about.

Hufflepuff’s eighth year common room was the most logical choice for the location, partially because the teachers would never suspect it, but mostly because it was closest to the kitchens. Ernie Macmillan had discovered early on in the year that the kitchen housed firewhisky for the teachers with only a simple anti-student spell protecting them. A lucky loophole meant the spell didn’t take into account students returning for an eighth year and so they all had access to a cache of unlimited firewhisky.

When Harry and Ron entered the common room, a loud cheer rang out around the group. Harry hoped it wasn’t too do with him. He spotted Malfoy immediately, perched on a stool by the fire, smiling along with everyone else but not making any noise, like a kid lip syncing in a choir. He wore black robes with long tight sleeves that appeared to dig into his wrists. Unlike most of the other students in the room, half of which were dressed in their pajamas, Malfoy looked completely in his element, as if he were nocturnal. Too late, Harry realised he’d been staring. He looked away.

“He looks good,” Ron whispered in Harry’s ear.

Harry felt his cheeks heat up. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

Why yes, Yamazaki, yes I have. The translation is actually a lot better than in Takasugi’s route. By that, I mean, it’s not weirdly cut off in certain places. And the route is very good so far. The mc is perfect. Not changed from the looks of it (haven’t done Yamazaki’s route in jp, yet). I commend cybird for this. But….I just want events to come back. They could’ve at least released a collection event on the side, even if they don’t keep it consistent once Yamazaki’s route release is over. It’s getting painful to just login and that’s it. Nothing to do. @.@ Pleaaaaaase bring events back. Focus on something other than ikemen sengoku or ikemen revo. :(
