Can I be real and say that it really pisses me off when people say that evolution era Emily Prentiss became her mother? Like that is such a surface level, shallow, in my opinion untrue take and I just think that y’all need to really think about what you’re saying sometimes.

Emily has become a prominent leader, yes. She both hates politics and also plays the game, because she recognizes that by taking on the position of section chief, she can politically protect her team in a way that most other bureaucrats wouldn’t, because unlike them, she prioritizes her people over optics. What about that screams self important career politician. Emily is also still regularly out on the field, working closely with her team, and has not shown herself to become cold or detached, which to me demonstrates that she has fallen very far from her mother’s own example.

I feel like some people take Emily’s I hate politics quote at the end of season two and run with it, assuming that she’s never allowed to deviate/become more nuanced in that opinion, which seems silly to me because she is no longer the 36-year-old idealist when it comes to these things. She is a woman in her 50s and she is incredibly smart and has gained immense respect from her peers and colleagues.
