ASTRA & SPOONER - THE FATE OF OPHELIA
Okay, I have an essay on Tara and Rebecca’s relationship in CME and the racial biases that the fucking showrunners have (homophobia is very likely in there too).
Tara as a black woman is not allowed to be in stable and happy relationship and have that be shown on screen. In her previous relationships she was assaulted by her white husband and abandoned by her black fiancé (and I do think their races say something as well). And in evolution, she has the chance for real happiness. She even says as much: that she’s “never been this happy before”. And that gets taken from her too. And we see that fallout. We see that fight as the audience. We see the bickering and the digs at each other. But we don’t see any of the make up. In fact, all we get is Tara in a life and death situation and Rebecca not wanting to be alone after that. Then, we are told that they are back together again because they “are more miserable apart than they were together”. Why did that have to be the description and reasoning we are given as an audience? Why can’t it be that “never been this happy” again? Why is it that even when they are together, we still see that tension around the inability to let each other in? And it’s only after Tara almost dies that they get engaged. We are only given a bit of happiness to cheer for after she goes through a major trauma. And then we don’t even see the wedding. We barely even see them interact after getting engaged. No small touches, quick kisses, nothing. And yet when you look at other relationships that are shown on the show, you get the couple against the problem (see JJ and Will, Rossi and Krystall, Matt and Kristy to name a few). You get to see sweet moments between them and light touches and kisses and everything else you expect from married couples!!! What is the difference??? Oh, maybe that they are an interracial sapphic couple??? I mean we’ve all already noticed that the two off screen weddings were the black people on the show. Is it because they would have to hire people of color to be background actors and not suffer in some way, shape, or form?? And before you telling me it’s not that deep, it fucking is, okay. And it sucks. It sucks for us. It sucks for Aisha and Nicole and all the other people of color who get shunted to the side but are expected to take it because at least they have a job on one of the most streamed shows in the world. And so while white men and white couples get to have full feasts. Everyone else is expected to be grateful for fucking crumbs.
Is this my most concise or thought out post, no, it’s not. But I’m tired of this. And I’m not even the most effected by it. I mean we didn’t even get a Tebecca clip for Pride this year, and we couldn’t for this season because they didn’t have any scenes together that weren’t just work. Whatever, I guess I just need to learn how to write fluff to satisfy my own need for them because the fandom ignores them too.
Im crying im pretty sure theres a shot similar to this of Nick Fury calling to assemble the Avengers lmaooo.
Also Voit seems to be gone for good so lets fucking cheer for that!!!! (Even tho i grew to somewhat love him in the end lmao)
This is the greatest thing that has happened in the whole season. THEY LOOK SO GOOD
THIS IS EVERYTHING I'VE EVER WANTED
Body tea AND silly asf I love my JJ <33333
Catching up on cm again (on ep9 rn) and its so funny how they keep making Emily say ‘fuck’ just to cut to the next scene lmaooo
The fact that Zoro jumped into the water while being tied up cause he knew Nami would save him even tho she's part of Arlong's crew... that's his ride or die no one can convince me otherwise.
And its also the fact that he didn't doubt for a second who Nami was, even if she had just betrayed the crew. He just did it cause he's insane and he wanted to prove to her that he knew the real her. That she couldn't lie to him, and that there was no way she was going to drive him (and the crew) away. And this is reason 43483948th why Arlong Park will always remain one of my favourite op arcs. ITS SO GOOD.
USOPP YOU'RE SO LOVED.
Idk man, its moments like these that just do it for me. How Luffy and the rest of the mugiwaras are so ready to bring Hell to whoever disrespects any member of the crew... Idk how many times I see it, these gestures will always get me. Thats probably why I love OP so much lmaoo
So im reading the op manga (after catching up w the anime) and ive come to say that Usopp slander will never make sense to me cause in his first arc, he is literally chased by the townspeople (with weapons nonetheless) while he is trying to warn them about pirates. And instead of leaving them to fend for themselves, he stays and protects his people. Like, giving up on them isnt even a choice for him. He’s always been brave, dude. From the beginning. He just has trouble believing it. And i hate that theres so many usopp hater out there when hes quite literally one of my faves, if not my fav character dare i say, in the entire story dude
why does Emily always say JJ’s name like that…? like she’s been wandering the desert for two weeks and finally found a glass of water????
I think Zoro as a character could be summed up in this one moment with Usopp in Skypeia.
It's nighttime, everyone's sleeping and Usopp wakes up cause he has to pee. Obviously, he wakes Zoro up to accompany him cause he's scared of going alone and ofc Zoro says no way. So Usopp has no choice but to go alone, and he walks in the woods, terrified, and then he screams or something and Zoro takes literally less than a second and he's there, with his swords drawn ready for a fight. Obviously it doesnt end up being anything dangerous, but idk. This lil moment that's quite literally nothing has stuck with me.
I just love how Zoro draws the line at accompanying Usopp to go pee but you bet your ass he would never leave him unprotected lmaooo
✭ JEMILY PARALLEL ✭ 9.14 "200" - 19.08 "requiem for a dream"
So i finally watched ep8 and omg i kinda went a bit crazy w all the jemily content (1 scene of 15 seconds) that we got lmaooo theres something deeply wrong with me fr shfjsjdjsj
Jemily in red and blue... OH I DREAMT OF TIMES LIKE THIS
Omg would it kill them to properly hug once dude??? Its like the yuri version of two guys chilling in a hot tub five feet apart cause theyre not gay for the love of god
