No, I really mean it. I love Visual Kei; I love all aspects of it. I love:
the men and women who dedicate their lives to creating music
the emotion that goes into the songs and PVs that they produce
seeing how band members interact with each other and with members of other bands
scrolling through Twitter/Instagram and seeing what they’re all up to
watching comment videos and laughing with them, even if I don’t speak an ounce of Japanese
looking forward to new CDs, buying their magazines, and seeing the goods they come out with
seeing their new looks and having my jaw drop when I see how drastically one of them has changed or simply dyed their hair to the point that you didn’t recognize them at first
seeing how close and like family the band members are to each other
seeing musicians in their elaborate clothing, but also looking forward to the selfies they post when they are just in their tshirts and skinny jeans
looking at all the different makeup levels; from hyper-detailed webs and flowers for PVs to a dark smokey eye for a casual night off
photos of their hands when they are at a restaurant, always giving the “rock on” sign over their food or beer
their goofy side, especially when they hide behind another musician and poke their head out while taking a photo
seeing photos they post of the chekis taken backstage at their lives
seeing photos of their lives, no matter how small the venue
finding purikura photos of band members
seeing how musicians have grown up (ex. Dir en grey in the 90s vs. now)
sending them tweets, knowing they won’t answer back. but when they do, you have to screenshot it immediately because it doesn’t feel real
listening to their music, because no other music has given me an identity, touched me so deeply, or helped heal so many wounds
