Signs - Holy Motors
I Want To Be A Machine - Ultravox
Lust For Youth – Lungomare
“Era così per tutti, ma nessuno l'aspettava“
“It was like this for everyone, but nobody expected it.”
I wish I had the words to describe how enchanting I find this.
Burial & Four Tet - Nova
Dosh - Um, Circles And Squares
I pulled a few 8-hour overnight stints in the campus computer lab with this song on repeat back in college. I had recently made a friend online -- someone I stumbled to through aimless FB profile-hopping, who seemed cool so I simply friended them. For one of the few times in my life that was enough for something more than another prolonged, unacknowledged social media tie. We ended up talking about music a lot, and sharing a lot back and forth. Almost every song I received was a song that resonated deeply in me. My memory’s bad so everything’s fuzzy, but I know I listened to this song heavily around 2009 and though I don’t even know if he gave this to me, I still associate this song with him. It’s a small thing, this serendipitous, tenuous connection between us over music, but remembering it still charms me.
Every Noise at Once is an ongoing attempt at an algorithmically-generated, readability-adjusted scatter-plot of the musical genre-space, based on data tracked and analyzed for 3,938 genre-shaped distinctions by Spotify as of 2020-02-14. The calibration is fuzzy, but in general down is more organic, up is more mechanical and electric; left is denser and more atmospheric, right is spikier and bouncier.
This is constantly a source of wonder for me.
It’s Valentine’s Day—enjoy this sultry jam!
Kith - Hilary Woods
‘In telling the story of these characters, Lenker is dealing with loss in her own life. Three of her friends died in car accidents in the year she wrote "Shark Smile," and her lyrics place moments of freedom and sudden loss side-by-side.
"[There's] such a swell of love and wildness, the taste of life and the wind blowing," she says. "Suddenly, it's just brought to a halt. But that's the juxtaposition, that's the contrast or the duality, that's everywhere in life."’

A truly beautiful meandering landscape of a song, this sounds like what looking out on the world with a slow burn of tenderness feels like.
Turnover - "New Scream" (Official Music Video) I’m 32 and growing older every second, but the secret disaffected youth that will always live in me can’t resist the resistance to normal life in this song.
Maribou State - 'Colours In Sea'
