"Angst" in writing is a little like fear, but with worry as well. Fear is more of terror, repulsion, etc.

Fear is more about the psychological reaction to a frightening situation.

Angst has emotions bound up in it. Fear, worry, desire, love.

An "angsty" fic would be one, say, where you have two characters who have feelings for each other, but are afraid to share them err they ruin what relationship they already have. And if and when they do confess to each other, it turns out to be pretty emotional.

Angst fics are the ones that can just get you right in the heart.

If you were to write horror, you would also end up writing fear. But say the story you write instead is of two lovers, one of whom gets into a deadly accident and completely forgets about the other, and 'moves on' with someone else, with the original lover watching from the sidelines. The original lover is torn between letting them live their new life with their new partner, or trying to rekindle forgotten memories and get their lover back. That is angst.

I hope that answered your question. I've never tried to put "angst" into words before.

(as a final note, angst mostly appears in stories with romance in it. Yes, you can have it in a platonic relationship, with familial love and that sort, but it is most commonly found in romantic plots)

I crochet. I create my own patterns. I am tinkering with the idea of distributing those ideas in some way. I understand that the consumer loves free patterns, but me as the producer and creator of the pattern wants a little compensation for the time and effort put into making that pattern.

I know that not all patterns are worth the dollar they're priced at, so I would only want to put a price tag on the projects that were particularly difficult for me to accomplish.

I think that, before I decide which website (Etsy, Ravelry, Lovecraft, etc) I use to sell patterns, if I ever do, I need some confirmation in a very crucial area:

Say you are looking for a pattern. Say you want the pattern to be one that is either challenging or at least intermediary. Say you find the pattern that fits the criteria you have . . . but you would have to buy it. Say all the free patterns are beginner or just not good. Say the pattern was reasonably priced:
