“Oh. Sure, yeah. Of course not.” Felix continued smirking as he teased him sarcastically. “Meditating?” The wolf asked, his expression suddenly turning into an unamused frown before he sighed some. “I don’t know. Maybe I’m just not meant to be in control of things. I’m supposed to be some wild card.” He mused.

“Yeah, well, even if I did care about my reputation... I’d say you were worth hurting it a little.” Ashton said causally with a slight shrug. “You know what? I think that’s exactly what this town needs. A wild card, a little unpredictability.”

Days off always made Brennan anxious. It felt weird not doing something productive and the day almost always ended up with Brennan with a bunch of bloodless bodies around him. Trying to keep his mind off of blood and the anxiety, the Avery decided to go to the gym. As he worked out, though, the thought of blood drove him crazy, knocking the bag clear from its hook.

Ashton often went to the gym when he had a bit of free time and didn’t feel like jogging outdoors. He was just finishing up when a punching bag went flying and landed near his feet. He looked up to see the cause. “Don’t know your own strength or were you trying to hit me?”

Kyra shrugged, “Nothing particularly noteworthy. How about with you?”

“Oh, just trying to keep a bit of peace in Mystic Falls. The usual.” Ashton’s focus to become a cop played a part in his and Kyra’s break-up, so he wasn’t sure how much he should talk about it with her.

“I’d love someone to keep my mind off things, I’m just stressing about what I normally stress about, vampire, werewolf, work, family life you know.” She shrugged with a small smile, soon shaking her head. “Next time it’ll be on me, but I’d love a cheese bagel with cream cheese and a chocolate latte.”

Ash nodded. “Try not to overthink things to much. I know that’s a hell of a lot easier said then done, but I don’t like to see you stressed.” He gave her a small smile. “I’ll be right back.” He went and ordered for the both of them and returned a few minutes later with their food and drinks. “So, I can’t really help in the vampire department, but anything else I can do? To help with ease some of your stress?”

Ashton gave her a smile smile. “Then here’s to the start of a friendship.” He raised up his glass.

Kyra returned the smile and clinked her glass against his, “To a fresh start.”

Ashton too a drink. “A freash start.” He agreed. “What’s new with you?”

Ash smiled as he sat. “You alright? Want anything? I was thinking of grabbing a smoothie and maybe a bagel.”

“I’ll be fine, I mean just over thinking a lot of things with stress, you know that life.” She softly laughed and shared a smile to him, “I’d love a coffee and bagel, but let me give you some money if you get them, or I’ll join you before we sit back down here again.

“Well, sounds like you could use someone to help keep your mind off things. Unless you want to talk about whatever is stressing you. I’m here for either. “ he gave her a small smile. Ashton shook his head. “Don’t be ridiculous. You can order whatever you want, I got it.”

“Well, to be fair, you have been here far longer than me.” Ashton didn’t hate being trapped here, but he did wish he could see more of the world. “I should stop by the house soon. I haven’t seen the twins in awhile, and Skylar mentioned that she got a dog.”

  “Hmm, yes. Been here since I was born and I live vicariously through my parents memories of being around the globe especially my dad’s.” Maddie smiled softly. “You definitely need to see the twins soon! Hopefully before they turn 1 because they are also so damn adorable.” She chuckled. “And King is damn adorable too!”

“Even though I had 14 years of my life spent outside this town’s border, I haven’t really seen much myself.” Ashton shrugged. “I’ll stop by soon and see everyone. It’s been far too long since I crashed a family dinner.”

“I think we passed that quite a while now that I think about it.” Maddie chuckled. They’d been in this town for far too long to think that anything or most things were as exciting as they were when she was younger. “I’m glad that you’ve been good. Haven’t heard from you in awhile.”

“Well, to be fair, you have been here far longer than me.” Ashton didn’t hate being trapped here, but he did wish he could see more of the world. “I should stop by the house soon. I haven’t seen the twins in awhile, and Skylar mentioned that she got a dog.”

“Oh, right, right. Images and reputation and all.” Felix said with an exaggerating tone before chuckling to himself. He listened to Ashton’s brief explanation about how he learned control and just pursed his lips together some to make a ‘tch’ noise. “Don’t think that’ll work for me. Everything is a situation that can cause me to lose it. It really doesn’t take that much for me to go from decent and civil to ‘let me rearrange your face a bit’.” He said. “And I don’t do the whole letting people in as more than simple friends.” He shrugged. 

“Oh, you know I didn’t mean it like that.” Ash gave a small shake of his head. “Maybe you just need to find something to keep you calm. Like... I don’t know meditating?” he let out a small laugh at the image of Felix meditating. “Yeah, I get that. I think I stopped letting people in when I was ten, but I’ve made an exception for a few people.”

Ash smiled as he sat. “You alright? Want anything? I was thinking of grabbing a smoothie and maybe a bagel.”

“That’s the spirit.” Elliot grinned, patting his brother on the back. “I’m buying.”

“That is even better.” Ashton said with a small grin. “What are we waiting for? Let’s go.”

It was one of those days, those days where Stefan started questioning why he decided to teach high school history. He knew he loved it but for some reason these kids were a lot dumber then he though. Deciding that he needed some whiskey to drown himself with, as he marked these horrible written essays he stepped into the Mystic Grill, making his way towards the bartender. “I’m going to need the strongest whisky you have if I have to grade these papers tonight.”

Ashton was making a habit out of grabbing a drink or two after his shift. The grill usually had someone to talk to and was better than doing nothing alone at home. “Should you really be grading papers while drinking?” He asked with a small laugh.

Kyra smiled, and nodded, “I’d like that. It’s been weird not having you in my life the last few years.”

Ashton gave her a smile smile. “Then here’s to the start of a friendship.” He raised up his glass.

“You know what happened the one time you actually did try to arrest me.” Felix said with a low chuckle. “You with a temper? Huh.” He spoke shortly. “So, just how did you learn to keep yours in check? I’ve been trying for–well, since I was born–and I’m not getting anywhere.” He asked.

“I thought we didn’t talk about that?” Ashton asked with a small smirk. “I didn’t at first. Then I just got better at avoiding situations that cased me to lose it. I mostly stayed to myself. When I was adopted by Nora and Mary Lou I finally had some people who gave a damn about me and once I let myself trust them I had a little less to be angry about.”

“i’m positive i lost it… but i know that this was the last place i had it.” jett answered, before giving a big roll of his eyes at his brother’s joke. though he did find it amusing and it showed in the chuckle that left his mouth. “only if you can accurately describe what it was last seen wearing.”

“A dusty old book cover? Come on, does it really matter that you lost it? Can’t you just get a new one or something?”

“I’ve been well. I mean, there isn’t much to really get excited with around here.” She smirked. “What about you? How have you been?”

Ashton nodded. “Mystic Falls has been a bit quiet lately. Maybe it’s just te fact that we’ve all been stuck here for so long, anything that used to be fun to do has long grown boring. I’ve been good, though.”

“Oh now that you have said that, chaos will definitely let loose. Way to go, Ashton.” Bentley muttered, sarcastically.

“Hey, maybe some chaos wouldn’t be all bad. Town’s been a bit boring if you ask me.”
