There were words in his ear, ones he couldn’t understand. Just rough noises that meant so little as his lungs burned.
Cords were still so tight around his neck. Geoffrey couldn’t barely suck in even the barest of air. He felt light, could barely see, couldn’t move anymore. Hadn’t the strength to. Hadn’t the breath to.
Sight was still so dim, the aches in his body fading from awareness as he fought for air.
He was going to die here, on this dirty floor. His own fault. Should’ve been more cautious. Shouldn’t of so readily offered assistance to a fallen man on the road. Not if it led to this, held down, unable to take breath, a familiar burn pulsing through as ropes tightened around him.
Couldn’t-, couldn’t think, all reason gone. Geoffrey twisted, chest so tight and burning, couldn’t shake the sack off, couldn’t loosen the cords, barely gasped out, “C-can’t…”
Couldn’t finish, no air left to.
Keen ears twitched forward at the sound of a weak gasp. Had he not been what he was, Haidar wouldn’t have heard it. His group still struggling to finish binding the man, the statement having gone unheard by them. “Tch…” He breathed. It wouldn’t do them any good to let their prize die now, but he hated being merciful. Yet, he had little choice in the matter if he wanted to be able to wave their hostage, alive, in front of the other gang. Curse his own kindness.
“Ya’ owe me,” He snarled, releasing his hold on the other man’s neck briefly. Eyes trailing along the sack that had been firmly tied around the stranger’s throat. Far too tightly, he could see the impression the strings were leaving, but perhaps killing him had been their aim. Either that or they were stupid. He was willing to bet on the second option, if only due to his hatred towards the other group.
Quickly, and lacking hesitation, he grasped the cloth in his jaw. Sharp fangs ripping into, as it he sliced through the rope keeping it attached to the man’s head. Yanking it, none too gently, off of the man’s head and neck. Tossing it on the floor. “Now you’re in my debt. Better get used to it,” He spat, glancing to his rushing gang mates to see if they were making any progress.
He flicked his tail, ready to leave, and catch up with the remainder of his group. “Can ya’ walk, or am gonna have to carry your sorry ass out?” Not exactly a polite phrase, but he was hardly a proper man. But he couldn’t deny that the man’s face looked vaguely familiar to him. Yet, he brushed the thought aside. It wasn’t as if he cared who this person was, so long as he got what he wanted.

{☽} Wolf. There was definitely another wolf in the area. He had never caught the scent of another, and it was unfamiliar for his taste— this wasn’t anyone he’s ever come across before. While he felt mixed feelings about it, curiosity drove the laguz to stray off the dirt path. Another wolf laguz! It made his tail quiver from excitement, as he paced his sandals to follow the aroma eagerly. When he did have his sights on the other, only did he realize… He had no way of approaching them.
They did have just as an acute smell, like animals do- and already seemed to notice him standing there behind a tree. The brunette clung onto the tree bark nervously, feeling himself beckoning to flee. It felt almost embarrassing that he had no words to form, or even a proper greeting. It was absolutely useless. But, still…
“E-Erm, pardon me- Well, I.. Ahh…”
It took a brief moment for his ears to prick up at the sound of shifting earth. Dulled senses delaying his notice of another presence, but eventually managed to detect it. Tearing his gaze away from the collection of birds gathered at his feet, for he had a bad habit of feeding crumbs to the creatures despite the protests of his brothers who had to deal with the flock waking them too early in the morning. He shoved himself up from where he had been kneeling. Though the scent belonged to a stranger, he could still recognize it for what it was. Somewhat tense as he waited to see if the other would continue to draw closer or turn away. And while he hoped for the later, as he had not been on good terms with another wolf Laguz for many years, he didn’t walk away.
Confusion briefly crossed over his features when the other came into view behind a tree, and he had to stifle a laugh when the strange struggled to speak up. If only for the reason that he wasn’t used to being approached in such a manner, and it was a bit difficult to take him seriously with the way he clung to the tree. Still, a gentle smile slipped onto his visage in greeting.
“Is there something that I may do for you?”
What'd be the ideal partners for your muses? Are they more attracted to other laguz?
{Oh gosh. I’ve had this in here for a bit now. I’m so sorry.
Sakhr, I have no idea? He’s not really interested in forming a romantic relationship, though I suppose it’s still possible (he would feel guilty for it, though, considering his time on this planet is limited). I don’t think he has any preferences, or traits he favors, though he would be better off with someone around his age/older than him/or at least more mature. Or just someone with less energy (as he doesn’t have much himself, and could hardly keep up with someone that does). And he also has no preference between Laguz and Beorc.
Haidar (first of all, why anyone would want this jerk is beyond me), I can say with certainty that he is more attracted to Beorc than Laguz, as he doesn’t really view the Laguz as a proud race (his exposure to them coming from Sakhr who he more or less considers a dog). I think it would be possible for him to get into a relationship with a Laguz, but they’d have to prove his mindset wrong in that regard. As far as other preferences go, as stated, he’s more attracted to males (though I don’t think he’d be entirely against a relationship with a woman). I think that’s really about it with him.
Uhhh, Ziya is 15. That is all.
Can any of your muses speak the ancient language?
{Sakhr can speak it fluently, and it is his native tongue. So, it was the language he was brought up with (learning the modern tongue after becoming a Royal Guard), though he rarely uses it nowadays.
Haidar cannot speak it (or understand it if spoken to). He rejected learning it from Sakhr, and has no interest in it.
Ziya can understand it, but cannot speak it (well) yet. He could attempt, but he would trip over words, and overall, sound sloppy. He would also mix modern words into it, as he does know every expression in it. But if he’s spoken to in it, he could, for the most part, figure out what is being said to him.
Thank you so much for the question!}

Hands on him again, fingers gripped tight around his arms, fisting in his hair through the sack. Geoffrey leaned forward and bit through the canvas when a hand strayed too close to his face, his heart beating too quick from the explosion of sound to be able to shake the impulse to fight.
Someone made a rough noise of pain, fingers fisting tighter in his hair, but Geoffrey threw himself sideways when he noted the ropes around his chest had loosened, knocking against more than one of his attackers. The cords around his neck grew tighter as someone tried to yank on the sack.
Geoffrey couldn’t breathe, couldn’t quit moving though, sliding his leg across the floor no matter how badly it ached.
Ached more after a second, someone falling hard on it. Geoffrey couldn’t keep the pain inside, barely any volume to his shout anyway.
The world was already dark but now it was growing dimmer, a louder ringing in his ears as he tried to breathe, nothing making it in, the cords too tight, his chest unable to move as something heavy fell across his back.
Growing agitation could be seen crossing over the canine’s features, as he realized their time was running thin. The sound of the door falling having gotten the attention of others in the area, and they hardly a big enough group to take on a large number. His lips pulling back into a snarl, as his group fumbled with the failing man behind him. A restrained shriek making his ears swirl on his head, as he turned to look at the pathetic mess his men were making. One of them shaking his hand, and blowing on the skin that had been dented by the other man’s teeth in an attempt to fight back.
“Idiots,” He growled, as the group struggled to retie the restraints on the wiggling man. “Take the guard, and go,” He barked at the man still holding tightly onto the wounded guard. A growl rumbling in his throat when the other hesitated to leave the group. The command the only threat he needed to hear before scampering off ahead of the rest, hauling their prize off with him, effectively securing at least one small victory for the group. But that was hardly enough for Haidar now that he had been made aware of the fact that the group had been keeping someone hostage.
Snorting, the beast crossed over to the rest of the group in frustration, wasting not a moment in throwing his own power around. Mouth slipping open without hesitation, as powerful jaws reached down in an attempt clamp down firmly around the bound man’s neck. If his attempt to grab the man proved fruitful, he would command the group to move. “Bind him,” came his rough voice, as he stood over the man, glaring as his group rushed over to attempt to tighten the ropes that had been weakened in the struggle.
“Don’t resist,” He breathed, “Or I’ll snap your neck.” To be frank, he couldn’t have cared less about the man himself. He was only a means to further their fight with the growing gang that had dared tried to enter his land; to make them angry. That was his only value to Haidar at the moment. “I don’t give a shit about ya’, got me? We’re just having some fun this group of numbskulls.” Blunt as always.
“So, what’s it gonna be? Play nice, and maybe I’ll let ya’ go when this is all said and done.” He would drag him out by the neck if he really had, though, if the man fought too much. “You’re better off with us, ya’ know?” He added, as he heard the sounds of boots scrapping across the rough floor. Words that were very truthful in nature, as he was assuming there would soon be a fight between the two gangs, and he was confident in their ability to best those he considers intruders.
She could sense that his words were genuine and raised the corners of her mouth to a small grin. ” I’ll admit, this is the last place I would’ve expected to see another wolf. Is this place yer home, or are you a wanderer like me?” The female gave a small tilt of the head as she asked the older wolf.
Yes, he supposed they were rather far from their homeland, or rather, where their kind was a common sight. A fact he sometimes dismissed from his mind, as his memories attached to that place were hardly important to him now. "Yes, my home is near here. I live here with my brothers. I am afraid I am not fit for wandering." Though there were times when living in the crowded town was suffocating, he couldn't hope to live the life he had once with his current body. He was simply happy that he had sound safety and shelter for his family through all of their struggles. "You must have seen much of this world, I imagine, that is a wonderful thing," He added with a smile. A bit envious of her ability to travel.

There was little to go on. The slight movement of feet, the faint noise of an old floor, each creaking shift of wood making his blood rush anew.
Geoffrey loosened his hands when he noticed they’d fisted. No clearer tell of nerves than that, even if they couldn’t see it. He leaned his head back again, let it rest against the wall and closed his eyes. The darkness was more absolute then. Made him less anxious than when someone would pass in front of him, nothing but a dark shadow seen past the canvas sack over his head. They’d tied it under his chin, apparently tired of him shaking it off. The cords were thick, making it hard to take a substantial breath, wound tighter than the ones around his hands.
Leg was starting to ache again. Geoffrey tried slouching in the chair as far as the ropes would allow, let it straighten. They’d probably think he was trying to escape again. Would come and leave more bruises, snarling commands in his face that Geoffrey could never hear past the ringing in his ears or the pain flaring all through, sometimes enough that darkness came again unprompted.
Hot breath exhaled silently from Haidar's curled lips, as they pulled back slightly over enlarged canines. Red irises watched the shadows move slowly along the wall, as he crouched down. Palms pressed against the cold of the unkempt floor, and feet keeping him sturdy, as sensitive ears twitched forward with each and every noise that passed them by. Trouble was something the teen went looking for often, and, needless to say, it was exactly what he wanted now. He didn’t appreciate the group that had thought they could move in on the harbor he had been guarding for months now. As far as he was concerned, it was territory, and he would gladly terrorize those that made any attempt to change that.
The brisk click of heeled boots against the hard floor tapped rhythmically in his ears, and he rose slightly from his position. A hand waving half-heartedly, as the shadow drew closer to where they stood. Attention not even moving to glance at the small group behind him that propelled forward at the motion. Ramming into the guard, and gagging the poor soul before they had the chance to cry out. His ways more brutal than they were clever, but he was not the type to hide. He rounded the corner after the group. “Take ‘em back.” They hauled the stranger up by their hair, knotting their hands behind their back with a rope, and began to drag them off.
A smile slipped across his features. “Wait. I smell blood.” Oh, did they have a victim in their midst? Might as well take their prize too while they were at it. Even if all they had wanted was some poor member to use a warning call, but the more the merrier, at least in this situation. “Follow me.” He crossed the ground carefully, following the thick stench until he reached a door. Tapping on it once with a gloved hand before taking a few steps back.
“Pathetic…” He breathed. The heat within his body rising, as his bones contorted. Fur replacing flesh, as a wolf stood where the teen once had. A growl forming in his throat, as he rammed hard into the locked door. Blowing it off of its hinges, and smashing it into the ground. Their time limited now with the amount of noise they had made in order to open the door.
“You’re an unlucky man, ain’t ya?” He laughed, as he spied the man tied firmly to the chair. His voice an awkward mix of that of a human’s, and the growls of a beasts. “Take him. I can carry him if you lot can’t,” He barked. Watching his back only briefly as feet shuffled in quickly behind him, his group rushing over to the where the man was stuck. Reaching out to collect their second catch of the day, as Haidar's ears twitched at the sound of nearing feet. "Hurry up," He growled, as he followed after them, ready to grab the man if he tried to resist the group.

Panne stopped mid-step. Ears twitched, as she scanned the path behind her. Faintly, she heard the snap of branches and a startled cry in the distance. Normally she’d pay no mind to such noises. The wilderness was full of animals, small and big, but the yelp was hardly the whimpered cry of a wounded animal. Instead it sounded more like a person. But that was impossible. Nobody would venture this deep into the forest, unless they were a hunter. And she doubted it was one of the Shepherds. She was the only one out here.
Her ears perked up higher. Panne trying to hear more, whether it’d be a crunch of snow, a soft swear, anything that’d determine the person was alright— and then she heard it. A whimper, as pitiful as can be. Panne held her breath at the sound and glanced back to where she came from. Hesitant to leave the trail, but it only lasted a second, as Panne leaped through the piles of snow to find the source of that pitiful cry.
The cry was not far from where she was, and while the forest would have loved to lead her astray, she knew its’ illusions well. It was not long before she came to the hill side where a small, crumpled figure lay on the ground. Panne grew silent in her step now. Hidden between two trees, she watched the figure shift and whimper as they clutched their head. They did not look like a hunter. In fact, if she was not mistaken, they looked awfully like a child…
Habit had her paranoid of the situation. But the more she looked at the poor creature, the more she was certain that this wasn’t a trap. She crouched down. Her bare knuckles in the snow and her knees pushed to her chin as she scanned him over just a few feet away. “Are you alright?” she asked.
His tail wrapped around his squirming body, ears folding back against his head, as he drew closer to himself. His head throbbing, and body aching from the impact. Squeezing his eyes shut tightly, as he held onto his head with all of his might. Allowing the pain to shift through his sore body, and regret to set in. Of course, he knew better than to wander off on his own, and he briefly humored the idea of calling one of his bothers to him. But he wasn’t willing to chance that his eldest brother would be the one to collect him, and in the man’s poor health, he didn’t want to ask such a thing of him. Especially considering the fact that he was in this because he didn’t want the man to venture out in the poor weather.
But the thought fled from his mind, as his sensitive ears twitched at a faint sound. Eyes snapped opening, as he shoved himself up with his palms pressed into the cold surface of the snow. Barely managing to sit up before spotting the woman. Fear running through his mind, as he watched her, and he resisted the urge to shift in what would have been a pitiful attempt to frighten her off. His teeth sinking into his bottom lip, as he flinched when she spoke up.
“F-fine,” He managed to choke out, though it was hardly convincing by any stretch of the imagination. Truly, she didn’t appear to be a horrible person, but he was distrustful by nature, and scooted back from her. He wasn’t a fighter, and he knew he stood little chance against anything in a fight. But he bit his tongue, resisting the urge to call his bothers out of fear. For all he knew, she could just be some wanderer, even if her being here was a bit off putting for the boy.
“Do y-you want something?” He made an attempt to snap,a low growling forming with his words, but his voice likely just came off as whiny or fearful. His efforts to make himself appear stronger than he actually was failing by the moments. He had been a fool for wandering off alone, and he knew a lecture was waiting for him, but he didn’t want to cause his family more trouble than he already had. He had to do his best to protect himself now.
He felt his heart warm at seeing the boy’s face as he spoke those words. Seeing the admiration on his face made Peony’s heart soar. These were the small moments as a gardener that he loved and appreciated more than anything even his flowers. Smiling kindly he nodded his head. “Of course, we’re already having a kind conversation, it would be rude to not invite you in. Especially since it’s so cold out this evening.” He commented before shivering.
Concern washed over Ziya's features when the other shivered, though it was likely not needed. Being too caught up in the well-being of others was always something that made the boy disregard his own health. So, when he shivered, he didn't even take notice of the fact. "L-Let's hope we don't catch a cold," He joked lightly, happy that they would soon be out of the cold, and he wouldn't have to worry about it. How odd it would be for him to get sick of all people when he dedicated all of his time to ensuring his brothers remained healthy. He would never hear the end of it. But the thought brought with it another one. Had he introduced himself to this stranger yet? How rude of him, this person had kindly invited him in, and here he was, a complete stranger without a name. "Um," He spoke up quickly, "My name is Ziya, I'm glad to have gotten this chance to meet you."

{I apologize for my lack of activity. The last week of my break was extremely stressful for me, and, as a result, I ended up not getting on my blogs. I am back at school now, though I've fallen behind on my main blog so I've been there trying to catch up. I will continue to try to catch up with replies on my main blog. I've also been spending a lot of time sewing, as I have convention coming up and changed my plans at the last moment for it. So, this blog might be inactive for a few more days due to most of my replies on my main being long. But I'll be back once I'm not so horridly behind on my main.}
Despite his words, she was still worried. As it was in her nature to care and worry for another’s life. So despite his words her lips were curved downward, and brows quirked up in innocent worry. What he had spoke next lightly surprised her. It was rare that she herself was asked that very question. She was in fact so off guard she found a small smile on her face and ended up letting out a small chuckle before stopping herself quickly. “No no, I’m fine. I prefer the cold over anywhere else. I grew up in this environment so it doesn’t bother me. But thank you for your concern."
He let a gentle laugh escape at her display of concern. It was something unusual to him, most others tended to pass him by without a care. Though he considered it strange for a brief moment before tossing caution to the wind. With one foot already in the grave, he had little to lose. Flesh turned to fur, and bones contorted. The shift so quick that the man was replaced by a beast within a moment. Large paws pressing into the soft snow, as his claws displaced the dirt below. Head lowering to show he meant the girl no harm, the movement having been done for both his own amusement and to reassure her that he was more than fine. It pained him to know someone was bothering to worry over him. "As I do I, milady." The words were mostly a lighthearted joke on his part. He would have explained why he was there, as the queen had heard rumors of bandits digging for something valuable in the area, but he assumed he should let her have a moment to accept the fact that he was a large, talking canine.
"Still I feel bad for judging you so quickly out of instinct I really am sorry." She repeated her apologies before pulling at one of her side braids out of nervous habit. "Oh um if it isn’t a bother to ask, is it alright for you to be out? It’s still rather cold right now." And just like that she began to worry once again, this time over the poor man’s health.
"There is no need for you to apologize, milady."Habit had trained the word into his speech, as had his past role, and now it was simply too late for him to drop such titles from his language. But he was merely attempting to be polite and respectful to the girl. Golden irises lifted slightly in surprise at concern the girl had voiced for him. But he supposed he must have looked odd to her; out in the cold without a jacket. He had a rather high tolerance for frigid weather, and he simply assumed this was due to what he was. Being able to turn into a an over-sized canine had a few benefits. Handling the cold well being among them. "It's not a bother. I rather enjoy the cold, but I thank you for your concern, though there is no need for you to trouble yourself with my well-being. I'm afraid that I'm more worried that such weather is not healthy for you to be out in." That much was true. It was difficult for the weather to have any bearing on him.

He was ready to argue and persist that the boy keep himself warm when he suddenly brought up his flowers. Blinking he turned to look around at his garden bashfully. “O-Oh thank you.” Usually he would disregard the compliment and just say they were being modest but during the winter it felt more meaningful. He would spend so long out int he cold to keep his flowers alive for the sake of the shop. He was certain he already had a cold. “…. Would you like to come inside to warm up?”
A smile graced over Ziya's features, as the other responded to his words. He enjoyed seeing passion in others, and being able to take in the sight of this stranger's garden was something wonderful to the boy. He had attempted to care for flowers in the past, but he appeared to lack the talent for it, as they always seemed to wilt on him despite his best efforts. Such attempts made him respect the other for being able to raise them all. "You're welcome. It's truly impressive," He responded easily, hoping his admiration for the garden wasn't too strange. But the warmth of his smile quickly turned into surprise when the other invited him, taking a moment for his visage to light up at the thought of getting the chance to warm up. After all, he didn't handle the cold well. "If you would be w-willing to allow me, I would love to."
