25: do they get scared easily? does loud noises, shouting, etc, scare them?
No. Fleur has always been the type of person who pays close attention to her surroundings, so she doesn’t startle easily. She also tends to be very confident in her ability to handle problems, so larger worries generally don’t scare or intimidate her.
35: are they possessive over their things? or over other people? Both?
Fleur is less concerned with things, but she can be very possessive of her people and their time. Even though she knows it’s her own fault, it rankles a little that Bill is so obviously Victoire’s favorite parent.
38: do they have parents / parental figures? do they have a good relationship with them?
Fleur has both parents and parental figures. Her relationship with her mother is mostly civil, which is about the best thing that can be said for it. Her father pulled away when she hit puberty, which she could forgive, but not when he did the same thing to Gabrielle. She’s had much better luck with her in-laws. Even though they got off to a rough start, Molly is the mother she truly never felt like she had, and Arthur’s dedication to his family is everything her own father lacked.
45: what’s their dream job / profession? do they have one?
When she was younger she used to want to be a politician, but as she got older she realized she wasn’t cut out for that life. Cursebreaking ended up being her dream job, even though she almost found it by accident.
46: if they could control one thing in the world, what would it be?
Everything. Fleur would be a benevolent all powerful dictator.
47: do they like tv shows or movies? or neither?
Fleur hasn’t really been exposed to either, but she would probably enjoy documentaries, especially National Geographic ones.
48: do they have social media? do they like it or hate it? obsess over it?
Fleur would probably enjoy Twitter as a platform for making your voice heard, but she would hate instagram, and be annoyed by facebook.
49: do they have a creative outlet? if so, what is it?
Not really. She doesn’t need one, because cursebreaking is work that requires creativity and innovation in order to be successful. And Fleur is very successful.
50: where do they see themselves in 2 / 5 / 10 years?
With Bill / with Bill / with Bill. Anything else is immaterial. She has a daydream that after their children are at Hogwarts, Bill will be able to leave his desk job, and they can be cursebreakers together, maybe ever go back to Egypt.
Sibling(s): Gabrielle Delacour (sister); Charlie, Percy, George, Fred✝, Ron, and Ginny Weasley (siblings-in-law)
Parents: Clement Delacour—father, Appoline Delacour (nee Renaud)—mother, Arthur Weasley—father-in-law, Molly Weasley (nee Prewett)—mother-in-law
Relationship with Family: In a word, complicated. She loves her husband. She dotes on Gabrielle. She sees Molly as a true mother figure, far more than Appoline. She tolerates most of Bill’s family for his sake, though she can’t help butting heads with Ginny from time to time. She’s fond of her father, but she pities him, which makes it hard for her to love or respect him. Appoline is the bane of Fleur’s existence, and has been for many years, but she attempts to maintain a civil tone in their relationship, a mercy she affords few others.

Over the past few days Fleur had taken on several roles, dishwasher, trash collector, food preparer, but the most important one, in her opinion, was tea maker. Even when no one was drinking the tea she made, she made sure everyone had a warm cup in their hands, something grounding to hold onto. When she saw Harry’s hand on Molly’s clock move from ‘work’ to ‘traveling’, she put the kettle on, and by the time he made it through the door, she had a cup waiting. She handed it to him, then drew him aside before the others realized he was here.
“What have you learned?” She knew there were things he could not say about an ongoing investigation, and she knew there were things he would not say to the rest of the family until he had more information, but Fleur wanted to know as much as possible.
Fleur was the type of person to always want to face a problem head on. When something was wrong, she wanted to fix it, and when she couldn’t fix it she still needed to feel like she was doing something helpful. She knew that it would not be helpful for her to be out looking for Arthur herself, she didn’t have the resources to do so effectively, but she couldn’t simply go to work as if nothing were wrong, or, even worse, do nothing. So she’d been puttering around her mother-in-law’s house, which was currently the site of an unofficial vigil, trying to do anything useful. At that moment, being useful looked like washing dishes from yet another largely untouched meal.
She didn’t look over her shoulder to see who she was addressing when someone entered the kitchen. “You may just add your dishes to the pile, I will wash them.”
nothing got past fleur – sometimes bill wished she wasn’t so observant to his mannerisms and emotions. it was both a blessing and a curse. and right now, it was a curse. fleur carrying victoire had been hard on them both. of course, more so on fleur but he hated watching her go through it. at the end of it was the most beautiful little girl and he knew that neither of them would change how things were for the world, but he didn’t want to seem like he was pushing for them to have more. it wouldn’t be the worst if the final decision was to keep victoire an only child. “i, uh,” bill coughed, pausing for a moment before continuing. “i know what we decided when we got married, but… have you had thoughts about giving victoire a sibling?” to him, that seemed like the easiest way to approach it without seeming like he was forcing it down her throat.
Fleur could not help it, she laughed when Bill finally confessed what he had been worried about. She laughed, because it was so absurd that they had both been considering the same thing, yet hesitant to bring it up to each other. It made sense that they had both been on the same page, but the relief of hearing it from his own lips still bubbled out of her in giggles. She reached up to bring his face down for a kiss. When she pulled away, her smile was blinding. “I have thought about it. I want to, I want her to know what it means to have siblings, as we do.” She couldn’t hold back another small laugh. “I did not know how to bring it up. I know that the last pregnancy was difficult, I know that I was not easy for you to live with.”
George nodded, saying a small thanks before digging in his pockets to find a coupon. He presented it to Fleur without a lot of fanfare before he remembered the items the aurors had taken from him. “I brought a few things for you to give to Vic but they confiscated it at the door. Do you think she’d like color changing hair or a flying toy car more?” George wasn’t sure what he could do to show Fleur he was trustworthy enough to spend time with his niece. It’s not like he would let her get into any of the dangerous stuff at the shop. He took his wand out and started trimming down the thorns.
Fleur accepted the coupon wordlessly. It would entertain Victoire, to be able to bring something as official as a coupon into her uncle’s store, but Fleur knew they didn’t really need it. She already enjoyed a fairly steep family discount, and if Victoire wanted something, George was likely to simply give it to her at no charge. Generous to a fault, in Fleur’s opinion, but generosity was, in the grand scheme of things, not the worst fault by far.
“She would enjoy color changing hair more.” Fleur did not have to think long about the answer to George’s question. “She is quite fascinated by Teddy’s ability to change his appearance.” Fleur was sure Victoire’s current interest in Teddy’s metamorphmagus ability was nothing more than a child’s curiosity, but she dearly hoped it wouldn’t sour into jealousy as Victoire got older. Fleur herself would have given anything as a teenager to be able to make herself ugly, and she probably would’ve hated anyone who had that option when she did not.
observing some of the people surrounding him, bill noted how ridiculous they looked. each outfit trying to outdo the next and it gave bill a headache. from a young age, he never understood the competition that was among the pureblood society and why money mattered so much to everyone. the bullying he received his first year at hogwarts was when he began to realize the differences between his family and the other purebloods. the torment didn’t really bother him until third year when some kid in slytherin said one thing too many and an angry bill released the sardine hex which resulted in a major point deduction from gryffindor and upset housemates.
as fleur mentioned the dance he was going to owe her later, bill chuckled. “of course. don’t let me forget.” squeezing fleur’s hand lightly, bill led her outside and on the pathway to the rose gardens. the idea of mentioning the possibility of adding to their family was in his mind, but bill decided to keep it to himself. if she brought it up, he’d be more than willing to discuss it but bill didn’t want to upset her. after all, they’d agreed upon no kids and ended up with victoire, which of course was a blessing, but he knew it was hard on her. bill didn’t want to make it worse. so to get it off his mind, he brought up something else. “you know, i’m reminded of an incident i had one summer in egypt years ago – i think it was 1989 – came across a mummy and had to blast it to pieces,” bill laughed, his tone wistful. “when i told charlie about it a few months later, he got a huge kick out of it.”
“I would never.” Fleur teased, as if Bill would ever forget a promise, large or small. She listened to her husband with only half a mind as they walked. Even with Victoire safely at home, a celebration of life and love reminded Fleur of her daughter, and it seemed like these days any time she thought of her daughter, she thought of having more children. Having younger siblings was such a central piece of both her and Bill’s identities, she wanted Victoire to have that as well, but she was unsure how to broach the subject with her husband. When they’d married, Fleur had been the one to insist on not having children, and as much as she disliked going back on her word, that wasn’t her largest concern.
She knew, with the benefit of hindsight, that she had not been kind during her first pregnancy. Her already prickly personality had combined with the pregnancy hormones in especially unpleasant ways, and Bill had borne the brunt of it. She wasn’t in a rush to put him through that again, even though he’d never complained. Nor did she want to force Bill to care for an infant while she herself was unable to help. That had been the worst part of her first pregnancy, not the fact that it wasn’t planned or the hormones, it was the weeks she couldn’t leave her bed as healers tried to level her skyrocketing blood pressure.
Even though she was only half listening to what Bill was saying, she could still tell there was something on his mind, something he didn’t want to say. She squeezed his hand. “That sounds like a delightful story, ma moitié. But is there something else you would like to talk about?”
George brought his hand to his mouth, sucking on the finger that he had stabbed with a thorn. He thought making flower crowns was going to be easy. Maybe the least amount of trouble he was going to get into today. He’d been ducking away from most of his family, besides Charlie, and Angelina all morning. An activity as simple as working with flowers seemed as far away from the bar and the quidditch pitch as he could manage. That’s where he expected them all to be hanging out. George turned to the person next to him, desperate. “I’ll give you a buy one get one half off coupon if you can manage to show me what I did wrong here.”
Fleur liked to think that she was not the type to meddle. In truth, it was rare she was invested enough in someone to get involved in their life, but she loved Bill, and loving Bill meant loving the whole family that came with him. So she knew that George had been avoiding the rest of the Weasleys, and when she saw him duck into the flower weaving tent, she followed. She gathered some flowers, pink to match Bill’s suit and make something she could bring home to Victoire, and sat next to him. When he addressed her, she lifted the flowers out of his hands. She took his injured finger and waved her wand, healing it as she spoke. “You cannot force it. You need to work with where the stem wants to go. It is also helpful to trim the thorns before you begin.”
as she wiped a few crumbs off his face, the man’s eyes were filled with a fondness that only fleur could unlock. she was always there to help her husband along. “me too,” he agreed. finishing off his pastry, bill took one look around the ballroom and sighed. he was itching to be outside. it was a gorgeous july day and to bill, dancing was overrated. “in the mood for a small walk outside?” he wondered. if she wanted to dance, he’d have no objection – bill did what he could to keep fleur happy. the real question was: could he persuade her into a one-on-one game of quidditch later?
Fleur was no stranger to special looks. As soon as she hit puberty and her veela powers began to develop, men started looking at her as if she were extraordinary, not because of anything she’d said or done, but due to what ultimately amounted to an accident of genetics. It used to make her nervous, and more than a little angry, but never with Bill. Bill looked at her not only as if she were something to see, but as if she were someone to know, and that made all the difference. That was a look she would follow anywhere. “We could go for a small walk, or a long one, but you must promise to dance with me later.” She took his hand and intertwined their fingers with a smile. She knew dancing was not Bill’s favorite pastime, but she loved any excuse to be close to him.
the woman next to him was a vision in white. there were plenty of times that he was astounded at the fact that she was his. he was hers. a miracle, he thought. the two of them decided to leave victoire in the hands of someone trustworthy instead of risking an incident like the one two months ago. he knew she was safe and with that in his head, bill could relax with a light drink in his hand and a pastry in the other. with a mouthful of pastry, bill said, “does it feel odd to you that we don’t have vic here with us?” bill was used to having his daughter in his sights almost every day of the week and very rarely did they have days without her.
Fleur found herself more able to enjoy the day knowing that Victoire was safe at home, but even that knowledge didn’t leave her completely carefree. Part of her was still on edge, still looking for signs of disaster, still hyperaware of her wand strapped to her forearm. As always, Bill’s words pulled Fleur’s attention back into the here and now. She couldn’t help but smile as she reached up to brush crumbs from the corner of his mouth. Her husband was as intelligent and as charming as he was handsome, but he still talked with his mouth full. A habit that might have annoyed her in others, she found endearing in Bill.
“It does feel odd, yes, but I am more comfortable knowing that she is safe at home.” As the only one of them with a full time job, Fleur was more used to being away from Victoire than Bill, but still she missed her every moment she was away. It helped Fleur to remember why she was doing it. Today, it was to keep Victoire safe.
you would prefer a son to a second daughter, you don't like weakness in yourself or in other people, you don't think compassion comes easily to you
I cannot say I have ever truly considered it, but I do believe I would prefer a second daughter to a son. Then again, perhaps it would be easier to be part veela in this world if one was a man. I do feel more able to raise daughters being a woman myself, but Bill would be a wonderful role model for a son, so perhaps I have no preference. I do not like weakness, that is true, but I do try to be more tolerant of it in others. But you are incorrect in saying that I think compassion does not come easily to me, because I know that compassion does not come easily to me.
“She is more a mother to me than my own mother. I am so grateful for all of her help and support over the years, as I am grateful that she welcomed me into her family, even though it did take time.”
“I do worry about him. None of us can truly understand what he is going through. I cannot imagine losing Gabrielle, and I can remember before she was born.”
“Charlie is Bill’s favorite brother, though I do not think he would admit this. So then he is my favorite as well. He is certainly easier to get along with than some of Bill’s other siblings.”
