A waste of your talent, Raven.
cato.
––––––––– ☾⋆ “ i have more important things on my mind then whatever is up your skirt, mara. ” he jabbed back, his tone implying he was more likely to find a sarlacc pit than typical anatomy he’d come to expect. though truthfully, he was worried he’d begin to sweat from nerves. cato was far from a ladies man, in fact, mara was one of the few women he could talk to without stammering like a complete fool. his time in chains had stunted many things, his social skills especially. “ they’re not that complicated, you’re just impatient.” he dismissed.
she put her foot down, testing the way it felt but ultimately coming up satisfied and for that, he was grateful, because truthfully- it had simply been guesswork down there and he’d be pretty embarrassed had it not worked. he took her hand, allowing her to help him to his feet before dusting off his knee. surely palace floors shouldn’t dirty pants but here he was with a dirt residue that didn’t completely go away no matter how much he patted at it.
“ there’s no secret about it, you just don’t come around often enough to witness it.”
‹ ◯ › –––– “Liar. You WISH I’d let you see up my dress.” She resisted rolling her eyes again, though she certainly made a face. There was a certain nervousness she felt about the position they were in. She’d been much closer to guys than this-- but it was Cato. That made things different. He was probably the only person in this sad universe she could stand to be around for more than twenty minutes. (( And he made her heart flutter. )) He was just fixing her shoe, she reminded herself. “I’m not impatient, i’m uncomfortable. There’s a difference.”
She didn’t think the floors would be dirty, but with the scum that was mucking around she almost wasn’t surprised. They certainly dragged in a lot of nasty things. Turning her gaze the the crowd, she tried to scope out anyone familiar as well as noting the people she should avoid. It was only Cato’s comment that drew her out of her haze.
“I wish i’d known sooner. I’ll bet you look damn good in heels.”
catodorvin:
cato.
––––––––– ☾⋆ cato raised his brows at her as she rolled her eyes, realistically he knew that was the closest he knew she’d come to a; you’re right, cato. you’re also terribly smart and handsome– he shook his head with a playful irritation. she’d elbowed him, so as far as chewing her ears off, it wasn’t necessary. the crisis had been averted by way of his gut, apparently. as she begun to whine about her shoe more, he nodded, barely stifling a sigh.
truth be told, he felt out of place in his suit as well, though thankfully he got to experience that without an extra four inches of height and a dagger to the heel. he went to one knee on the floor, tapping the meat of his thigh so she could place her foot there and he could actually fix it for her without assaulting some higher party.
“ no kidding, mara, look how twisted it is at the back and it doesn’t have to be this tight, ” he muttered, reaching for the straps as he did his best to avoid looking at any skin bar the small area he had to work with. he undid the buckle entirely, twisting it the right way so it was smooth all around before refastening it. “ put your foot down, is that better? ”
‹ ◯ › –––– She was hesitant to put her foot on him at first, (( though she’d certainly appreciate the help. )) She was aware of how painful the shoes were to her, and she wasn’t even touching the pointy end of it. Still, he was probably better off fixing it for her, so with a subtle sigh, she lightly placed her shoe atop his thigh, “Just don’t look up my dress, Okay?”
His comment brought a flush to her cheeks. She was embarrassed she couldn’t even put a pair of heels on right. None of the other girls looked like they were having problems. “I’ve never had to do this okay? How was I supposed to know how complicated they’d be to put on?” With a hand on her lip she waited impatiently for him to finish.
With whatever he was trying seemingly done, she put her foot down and applied some weight. Admittedly, it was a lot better. Still painful of course, but she could only imagine it would be like that for a while. Taking his hand and pulling him up off the ground she gave him a soft smile (( Softer than she’d care to admit. ))
“It’s-- a lot better, actually. You don’t secretly wear heels when i’m not around, do you?”
drvkar:
She kept to herself, watching others enjoy themselves and socialize. Not that she was too shy to do the same but she’d rather stay by herself. Crossing her arms over the soft silk light blue material of her dress, Serleena sighed. She was dreading this moment. Someone approaching her. With her luck, they’d want her hand. Shaking her head, the princess looked at the other. “Thanks for the offer but I’m not wanting to dance. I could use a drink though."
‹ ◯ › –––– The look on Mara’s face was certainly one of confusion. She understood where the approach might have been assumed as a dance offer, (( the girl was certainly pretty enough to have been offered an uncomfortable amount of times. )) The drink, however, was what confused her. She knew she looked pretty... bad, most days. But a castle servant?? That was a first.
“Uh, no. I don’t really dance, and I definitely don’t work here.... Do I really look that bad?”
silverstcr:
Andromeda was walking by a stranger when the female finally stood up and ended up elbowing her in the gut. Letting out a loud UFF from the sudden blow the queen took a step back in pain as she groaned softly as a frown was on her face now. Her night was just getting worse by the minute, but it became even worse when the other’s attempt of an apology didn’t even sound sincere. Crocking an eyebrow at the woman with confusion she could tell the other must not be used to parties meaning she must have been part of the Resistance. A heavy sigh left her lips before the visiting queen spoke.
“Miss, it’s proper manners when you apologize you make sure the person is alright instead of trying to make excuses or a poor attempt of a joke.” Standing to her full height like a proper royal her tone was gentle, but still held a cold undertone. “I am not even sure if you are even truly sorry. It’s understandable that accidents happen especially if you aren’t used to parties, but I believe it’s common sense to make sure the person you hurt it even okay.”
The blonde felt sick to her stomach from the blow since she just recently ate and thought she could end up hurling everything back up, but she was keeping herself together. She still had to be gentle, yet firm as if scolding a child.
‹ ◯ › –––– It took a lot of effort to keep her comments to herself, even on a daily basis. Mara had a big mouth, she knew that. It had gotten her into trouble more than once, but this was the one time it really mattered. It wasn’t just herself she could get in trouble, but the whole Resistance if she said the wrong thing to the wrong person. By the way the woman was dressed she could only assume she was rich. Rich enough she probably didn’t know what to do with herself, and her entitled attitude only confirmed that. Whoever she was, she wasn’t familiar to the pilot-- which must have meant she was one of T H E M.
“You’re not bleeding, and you’re not dead. You’re fine. You’ll walk it off.” Her words were followed by a tight lipped smile and the urge to say something more. She knew better than to say anything-- but the woman was lucky she even got an apology. The way she’d been raised, she owed apologies to no one. You never showed weakness; never showed that you were sorry.
“Actually-- I was sorry.” Her words held emphasis on the ‘was’. If she’d felt bad about it before she certainly didn’t now. The tone of her voice was so condescending she could almost gag.
Cato.
––––––––– ☾⋆ for the most part, cato had been lingering at mara’s heel, too uncomfortable in his surroundings to mingle. she might not always be the softest company, but she was familiar. and familiar was about all cato could handle this evening. he’d only stepped away for a moment, needing to bring something to the attention of commander dameron. surely mara would be fine without him for just a minute, she was capable of maintaining composer for that long, surely–– he didn’t know why he’d thought that. there was really no evidence to suggest that to be the case at all.
he excused himself from the commander quickly, wandering his way back to mara’s side. perhaps he should’ve walked louder or made some sort of noise of recognition, because she didn’t seem to notice him until she’d driven her elbow in the soft part of his belly, almost knocking the wind completely out of him as he half doubled over. it seemed like someone was about to step in, everyone wired on high alert, waiting for chaos, eager to misconstrue an accident. he threw a hand up, waving that it was all fine as he sucked in a breath, turning to meet her eye with a furrowed stare.
“ you’re very lucky it was just me, ” he chastised in a wheeze, finally beginning to straighten up. “ imagine if it was the queen or one of the ren’s. ” he didn’t even want to think about what could’ve happened, carnage on naboo over a difficult shoe. force be good, why did anyone think this was a good idea.
“ now what is wrong with your shoe? ” he asked, exasperated as he glanced down the length of her leg before quickly pulling his eyes away.
‹ ◯ › –––– Though she rolled her eyes at his remarks, she knew he was right. She was lucky. The queen could probably understand an accident. If she was willing to try and mend the war, she couldn’t imagine there would be much discourse about it. The Rens, however? She could only imagine their reaction. They were cruel and she didn’t trust them in the slightest. (( She didn’t trust any of them. )) They’d probably find some way to spin the story into an assassination attempt. She knew they weren’t interested in peace.
“Well, they’re heels for one. That’s a problem in itself, isn't it?” Lifting her foot up once more, she placed one hand on his arm for stability while she tried to fix the issue. She wasn’t sure if it was the shoes themselves, or if the straps were too tight, but they’d been obnoxiously uncomfortable since she set foot in the ballroom.
“The buckle on this strap has been digging into my ankle all night. You see it, right? My skin is practically r a w .”
‹ ◯ › –––– Mara didn’t really do dresses; she do parties either. That was for the rich and flamboyant. However, she wasn’t really sure she could classify this as a party anyway. Sure they were dressed up, drinking-- but there was an unaddressed and undeniable tension in the air. Some were mingling, sure-- but a lot of them were staring. Awkwardly. At their friends, at their enemies (( The difficulty was figuring out who was who. Without their colours flying, you could really be talking to anyone. ))
With a heafty sigh, she lifted her ankle up to adjust the straps on the heels she was wearing. In complete honesty this was the first time she could ever remember wearing them. She wasn’t sure why people did why they were even ‘a thing’. Pulling the minuscule strap tightly, her fingers slipped-- which wouldn’t have been so bad if she hadn’t elbowed the person next to her directly in the stomach.
With a subtle curse beneath her breath, she tried to formulate some sort of educated response; an apology.
“Hey-- I am SO sorry about that. It kind of comes with the territory right? I’m pretty new at this; all of this. Diplomacy. Socializing. Dressing up.”
The smile she offered was about as awkward as her words, brows raised in hopefulness. The last thing she wanted was for the situation to escalate, and she absolutely knew some people would let it.

Incorrect Quotes ( 1/? )
“I’m dropping hints that my mother hated me.”
“My mother hated me.”
daimonren:
–––– ✘ daimon wasn’t used to being the presence of so many first-order footmen without his mask and even behind the identity her wore, he still felt bare and exposed. he was a KNIGHT OF REN. he was a warrior, a leader, a god. yet he stood at the princess’s heel like a trained pet while the rest paraded themselves around with their heads held high. how he hated them. how he had missed them too. he reminded himself not to stand to close, not to be drawn to their sides though their proximity was all he’d ever known. it would be painfully obvious if he stood amongst them, what he truly was. that the blue saber he wielded was little more than a relic from his former self. he glanced around the room uncomfortably. as a ren, he was imposing and powerful. people knew how to approach him, or better yet, knew not to. this faux daimon was a mask that itched and chaffed at his skin. he wasn’t made to serve.
he took a long swig of his drink before noting that padme had wandered off somewhere. the queen wouldn’t be happy if she was left unattended in a political climate such as this. and of course daimon had to care what she wanted, as everyone seemed intent to remind him. irritably, he began to move through the crowd, his lip wanting to curl into a snarl as people remained in his way. as someone stepped on his heel, he turned with a scowl only to force his features to soften. “ sorry, ” his stomach turned at the demure voice that sounded from his mouth. “ my mother always told me i had a habit of getting underfoot. ” another lie, smooth as running water. you’d almost believe he’d had a mother once.
‹ ◯ › –––– If there was one thing that Mara liked to do-- it was drink. The only good thing about this little get together was the free booze. There were a lot of downsides, of course She hated being in the same room as those TERRORISTS. Even breathing the same air as them made her sick. The only time she’d ever want to be in their general vicinity was if she had a blaster in her hand-- BUT, she had to play nice. She had to pretend that she believed that the First Order could consider peace. (( Unfortunately, they all knew who the First Order really was, and they could NEVER consider a peaceful resolution. ))
As she finished off her drink, she knw she’d made a mistake. Without Cato there to remind her of her borderline alcoholic tendencies, she was far too careless. Holding a hand to her head, she looked for somewhere to set her empty cup down. Pushing her way through the crowd to the nearest wall, she found herself getting in the way-- more than once. It was only the third time someone commented on it. She wasn’t sure why he was apologizing, it wasn’t really his fault. “No, it’s okay-- My mom always said the same thing. Well, sort of. It was usually more so that I... got in the way. People, hopes and dreams, the usual.” Her words came with a shrug, wondering if she should ask him for help navigating the crowd. He certainly seemed a bit more coherent than she.
kalcmor:
there was nothing kaia loved more than a celebration, especially one that enabled the ambassador to update her rolodex. she was using the ball to her advantage and connecting with every politician and guard that she could get her hands on. it didn’t matter if they supported the first order or the resistence, she just wanted to make them smile and convince them to trust her as an indivual. so, kaia turned to the person beside her and gave an inviting smile, “would you care to dance?”
‹ ◯ › –––– She was supposed to be on her best behavior, she knew that. Unfortunately that didn’t mean her best was good enough. She’d never really known the luxuries of parties, and fancy clothes, she didn’t really understand the social queues that were required to be a socialite. Dancing?? Entirely out of the question
“I’ll.. have to decline. Trust me-- no one wants to see that.”
ari-rcn:
•*• the man scoffed slighted as his arms crossed over his chest and he looked down at the man that had been bothering him. “just because we are here that doesn’t give you a right to talk to us – so i suggest walking away before i put you through a wall.” aritol said to the other before watching him walk away and another approach.
“i do not have time for friendly chats so say what you need to and move along.”
‹ ◯ › –––– Mara hated parties as much as the next person. It felt ridiculous, really. No war, battle or even argument had been won by diplomacy-- not to her knowledge. Where she came from, where she’d been, it was always won with bloodshed and violence. This felt wrong, being here. Not just the party, but being on Naboo too. Trying to find a peaceful resolution almost felt like-- they were giving up.
Though the man’s threat was believable-- she wasn’t sure how much it did to deter her (( Especially considering he had initiated the conversation. )) She’d heard worse, DEFINITELY been through worse, and honestly?? It might even be better than this.
“Is this how you make all of your friends? You’re aware you initiated this conversation right?”
