*doug’s automatonophobia dates back a good number of years before mann co. and thus, before grey mann’s rise to power via robots. he was always a fan of museums and historical attractions, but when it came to the mannequins dressed to look like famous figures he tends to become uneasy. when he was young, he always thought those well detailed mannequins would come to life or start moving and that was a thought he just couldn’t shake as he got older. of course, his phobia was worsened when grey mann began producing robots in the image of the mercs. it worsened a lot. so it’s safe to say, doug isn’t a fan of robots of any kind. automated weaponry like sentries are understandable, though those alone still make him paranoid that they might go haywire.
