Flowers, Felines || Flo and Fabian
Fabian grinned when Florence looped her arm through his, and matched her pace out of the castle. He looked up at the sky, and it really was sunny. He blinked a bit, trying to get rid of the spots in his vision. I should remember not to look directly at the sun, he thought. âNear the greenhouse, eh?" he asked, looking down the path towards the place in question. Fabian didnât spend too much time in the green houses apart from Herbology classes. Though he had noticed that a certain Head Boy friend of his had been spending more time out and about lately, and he knew that little Allyoop was big on Herbology. Fabian smirked, thinking this information would come in handy later.Â
"Oh, plenty oâ people get angry with me, Flowy. McGoogles, Mortlake, Frankie, Molly, my mum, my dad, the list could go on." He shrugged, feigning an air of indifference. âApparently, pranking and being the Gideotâs twin is a bad combination or somethinâ." It was probably more that he got caught up in Gidâs more elaborate pranks and that led to trouble more than Fabâs simple traps, but all the same. That, and the fact that he had a bad habit of getting behind on schoolwork, though he did his damndest to keep up. Not that anyone ever realized that. âSproutâs an easy goinâ lass, though; I doubt sheâll get mad at us for flowers."Â
Fabian let out a laugh when Florence started running, and he soon took off after her. He was a fairly fast runner, given that he had long legs and was in Quidditch shape. They reached the greenhouses right around the same time, and he grinned at her, then up at the greenhouse. It wasnât anything special, he didnât think, except that it had plants galore in its walls and outside, some of them snaking up the walls. It was like the greenhouses were the homes of entire worlds that were different than earth. Fabian wasnât much for Herbology, but he could see the appeal. As long as the Devilâs Snare didnât try to kill him again, like it did third year. That was unpleasant.
"Alright," he agreed, stooped down in the dirt, looking at the roses. âThatâs very nice of you," he said, thinking her thoughtful. âI think Iâm gonna pick a couple for Molly." He tried to remember what her favorite color is, but couldnât, so just picked a red, a blue, and a purple rose each, thinking that would at least give her a good variety. He was nursing a thorn prick when Florence mentioned Hestia and he started. âWhat makes you mention her?" he asked, trying to be casual. He stuck his thumb in his mouth, sucking on the prick wound so itâd stop bleeding, and so he wouldnât have to say anything else. He arranged the roses he had out on the grass, and then picked a white one, still vaguely thinking of the Hestia question. When Florence caught his attention again, he let out a laugh. âOh yes. Flowers suit you," he said, grinning.
"You get in trouble, really? I knew you pranked and all, but I never knew you got in trouble for it. " Florence always seemed to view Fabian as pure and nice and kind and wonderful. To wonderful to get into trouble no matter what he did. She had very high (and slightly unrealistic) views for the boy. "And I think giving the flowers to Molly is a great idea! I'm the youngest of my family, so all of my siblings have already left Hogwarts." Florence organized the flowers on the grass in front of her. So many different colours! How interesting, she would have to ask Professor Sprout how she did that. Florence looked back over at Fabian when he questioned her, "Oh, I've just noticed you staring at her in the Great Hall sometimes. She's very pretty I always see here carrying around a camera, I wonder what pictures she has! Do you think she's seen the giant squid? I bet she has a picture!" Florence started to babble on but quickly stopped herself.Â
"Okay I think that's enough for the dying potion and enough for my mother." Florence gathered her flowers and began to walk back towards the castle. "Y'know, I think Noodles might actually like being pink, it's really a good look for him y'know? We don't have to many flowers where I live. We have some hanging from baskets but that's about it. My family and I used to have quite a bit of money I remember when i was a small girl we had lots of flowers and a big garden. I can't remember how we lost it all though." Florence said casually as if the subject wasn't strange or sad at all. She just continued on with her bright happy ways. "I live close to London, in Bracknell. It's a pretty industrial town. It's a muggle town too of course so we try to keep it low. I ride the train a lot, have you ever ridden a train Fabian? It's so much fun." Florence talked on about trains until they reached the castle, at which point she turned down towards the dungeon. "Let's see what we can take from Slughorn!" she cooed and skipped a long whilst lifting her fat cat under her arm.Â
She reached the door and walked into the classroom. Florence opened the door to see a room full of first years staring curiously at her. "Poo I forgot he had a class right now." she muttered before quickly adjusting herself. "Hello everyone!" Slughorn was missing, maybe he went back to get something in his office. "Would anyone like to snatch a few things for me from that closet?" Florence's face lit up into a smile. At first no one moved, until one little first year saw Fabian and a few of the girls stood up. "We'll help."
