About Me: Hi, I'm Jadwiga! I'm 24, Polish (living in the UK), probably-autistic, a huge nerd and possibly too ambitious for my own good

I love The Spectacular Spider-Man and I wish the writers got to actually make all their plans a reality... which is why I decided to write a 70+ chapter long continuation fic of the show. I'm working on it right now and this is the sideblog I plan to be using for posting about this stuff. My main blog is @vigilantsycamore

The Education of Peter Parker:

That's the name I'm using for this WIP, a reference to that being stated as a core theme of The Spectacular Spider-Man. I'm writing it as a series, broken up into four "books", corresponding to my takes on seasons 3-5 of the show and the post-season 5 movies. I also already have some ideas for a sequel and this is what I meant about being possibly too ambitious for my own good

Book 1 is gonna be 17 chapters long but I'm planning to write all the way up to chapter 25 before I start posting, mostly because that way I can make sure the story flows neatly from one to the next

Current Progress:

Second drafts written up to Chapter 1

First drafts written up to Chapter 14

Plot outlines through to Chapter 25

Once I've started posting, I'll throw an AO3 link in here too

Feel free to send me asks about the fic if you're curious - if I can answer them without spoiling certain plans that I wanna keep a surprise, I will

If I start/resume working on some of my other fics or fic ideas, Spider-Man related or otherwise, I'll add sections for those to this post as well

How did I only just now realize that the Osborn Penthouse is part of the Silver Heights Complex

... Funny thing is, so far in my notes for my fic, I've been treating Silver Heights as a Manfredi Crime Family property - I mean, between Silvermane and Silver Sable, there's a clear theme there - and while I might make an exception for the Osborn penthouse, I'd probably keep the rest of that whole complex in the Manfredis' hands, so this feels like there's an "if I had a nickel" meme in there somewhere

It's just Mark Millar shit where all the villains have to constantly be talking about all the sexual assault they love doing as if it will be lost on us that the character named Murderkiller is the bad guy unless he tells us how he gets his powers by eating puppies and uses a minimum of half a dozen slurs O_O

I just enjoy when villains are fuckin weirdoes <3

Its fun to see a one off bad guy who exists to represent some very real world evil get taken down sometimes but for recurring villains who are gonna be showing up every few months it's just more fun when they're over the top and weird and silly in their evil

Also this might be weird to say but the silly villains are often more relatable. I could see myself, in Adrian's situation, becoming a bank-robbing bird girl/boy/thing/Gonzo. I could not see myself in Adrian's situation doing this

I don't get very political on this blog these days, in part because I've pivoted to focusing more on fandom topics here and have two sideblogs for political topics, but I just got a bunch of comments - which I've since deleted and blocked the commenter - mocking the concept of the Holodomor, so:

This reminds me of something that started as an unintentional running gag in my WIP, until I noticed I was doing it and decided I liked it enough to keep it going on purpose

Where one of the villains uses some sort of drone or robot to fight someone - usually Spider-Man - only for it to get destroyed fairly quickly, prompting someone - usually the villain themselves - to make a remark about getting ripped off

I wanna keep writing but I'm tired enough that I'm struggling to focus and it's after midnight for me so I think it's better if I go sleep and write more tomorrow

One thing about the bit of my fic that I'm currently working on is that 1. while the rest of the story is in 3rd person, scenes from Peter's POV are in 1st person, and 2. at this point in the story, Peter is Not In A Good Place. So we get a front-row seat to him spiralling. He gets better, but it'll probably take a few story arcs

There's a scene in chapter 2 draft 2 where Gwen asks Pete to be careful (he's going to Florida) and he says he'll be fine because Spider-Man's going to Florida too. And then Gwen, not knowing about the whole secret identity thing, says that Spider-Man can't save everyone and guess how that affects Peter
