Frank stuffed his hands into his pockets as they walked. He was letting Fabian lead the way, since Frank had no clue which of the secret passages Bane had in mind to escape the castle. âOh, Iâve just been doing some catching up on homework," Frank answered with a grin. âAnd, I finally had that chat with Alice. Weâre going on a date in a few days." He allowed Fabian to react. For all the resisting Frank had done over the summer, he was ecstatic that the conversation had happened and had gone the way it had. In fact, there was very little, perhaps nothing at all, that could put Frank in a bad mood right now, he was so full of joy.
"Oh, and this should please you too, We were conned into the conversation by Potter. Clodpole locked us in the owlery. Seems heâs getting better at this." Bane was always one to appreciate a good trick. Though this particular trick had struck Frank as a bit cruel, he wouldnât complain about it much. It had, after all, been the device through which he and Alice were able to have that conversation and decide to be together. Besides, no one had actually been hurt at all. Quite the opposite, actually.
"Homework, ew," Fabian said, wrinkling his nose. "It's still the beginning of the school year, Frankie, you can't be that far behind a'ready." Fabian shook his head. Prefects, Head Boys, the goodie goodie types and their homework. He appreciated being caught up and not having to worry about it too much, especially with it being NEWT year, but he didn't understand why people did everything way before they were due. There were a lot more important things that can be done, like setting pranks and goofing off with friends while you still can. But a balance is good, he acquiesced in his head.Â
"Oh really?" he asked, stopping momentarily to raise his ginger eyebrows at Frankie as they approached a corner. He grinned wickedly as he started walking again. "Does this mean I can talk to Ally-oop now?" he asked, swinging around the corner with a little jump. He had a lot of nervous energy like this when he'd been bored. "Did he? Aha, that's great! Good one on Potter. Those little rascals of Marauders learn fast." He laughed a lot, greatly enjoying the trick that'd been played on Frankie. The Marauders were good blokes, he thought. And someone had to take over the pranking reigns once he and Gid graduated. He was only a tiny bit put out that he didn't get to help but ah can't do everything.
"Well I'm 'appy for you, mate," he reached over and patted Frankie on the back. "You'll have to tell me more 'a what happened when we get to the pub," he gave Frankie a good look as if to say, if you don't give me every little detail I'm going to charm your hair green and take your candy. Not that he didn't do those things anyway, but this way, it was a threat and not just a joke. They meandered a bit more, until they were turning down the corridor with the One Eyed Witch statue. "Oi, we're almost to my secret entrance. You're not going to squeal on me if I show you where it is, are you?" he asked with a lazy smile. He was just teasing at this point.
