i have to think abt silly parts of outlast trials because if i start to really think about the meat of it and the scale of the violence, its so bleak it makes me feel nauseous. five or so men a week getting their legs sawn off at the kneecaps several years in a row. the endless loop of reagents elaborately torturing and killing victims just to end up in their shoes and warn the reagents that never listen. enough human hearts to fill a vat that never ends. mannequins shoved into a grinder in front of a drugged and broken woman who thinks she's watching strangers kill her children over and over and over. prerecorded lines from the man orchestrating your hell because he's churning so many experiments out he doesn't have time to personally guilt trip you for not trying hard enough. a man who misses the sun telling you to expose this place when you make it out because he doesn't know they're not going to let you keep your memory. a hulking frankenstein's monster with no way to know her girlfriend is alive except that the human flesh she's scavenging for doesn't taste familiar. and the awareness that its all based on catastrophes real people orchestrated. the awareness that you could name people off the top of your head who would sign off on it if the forms were dropped on their desk

i’m so serious when i say excessive fear of being annoying/creepy/taking up people’s energy etc holds us back. it seems like it’s just little things but they add up. over the past month i’ve ordered food and drinks almost exclusively by asking “do you have a favorite?” and i know if i said that on twitter or wherever ppl would dogpile me for demanding emotional labor of servers or w/e but every single person i’ve asked has seemed genuinely psyched to answer! i don’t ask if it’s busy obvi, and use a phrasing that gives them the easy out of “i don’t have one”— but no one has taken it! the girl at the cafe confessed to me with something like conspiracy in her voice how everybody raves about the gluten free chocolate chip cookies and sure, they’re great, but the delicious, fluffy homemade waffles are RIGHT THERE. the barbera the bartender recommended was actually kind of awful but it broke the ice and we ended up talking for like 45 minutes. the bodega guy declared that he usually makes himself a burger but tonight was “a breakfast sandwich night” and tbh he was totally right. it WAS a breakfast sandwich night

I've recently started painting my own pins since I don't have any small acrylic ones to use! My bio dad got me a pack of fire emblem pins for like ¢1 last year and I know nothing of fire emblem so I've been painting them with paint markers and sealing them with Nuvo (pictured below) to make them into pins for stuff I like :3

(The small Anti ref pin was actually a pin of El from stranger things that came in a pin pack. I didn't like the design and I only got the pack for the demos and title pins tbh so it was a sacrifice I had to make for the vision </3)

Some pins came from Etsy: The clone pins are from Galactic Problems, the Silver one was a gift, and I can't find the other two shops anymore 💔

The ones that didn't: both gay pins came from Beetle bugs art collective, the maul & straw hat pins come from box lunch, the "never give up" pin comes from hot topic, and I'm pretty sure the pentacle came from dark star books.

thinking about my anti getting his first shitty drum kit off craigslist or something and being so in love. he's rusty and it's rusty but he opens the box and grins like a kid again. remembers when jack was a teenager and had that tapping fidget feeling in his bones and the sound of anti scratching through the dark in his head and needed to get it out, needed to hit something, needed to turn that energy into a reaction. anti twirls a drumstick in his fingers and it's easier than when he does knife tricks and he fondly thinks of the few times he really felt synced and comfortable with jack, practicing with his friends or in a studio and feeling that power at his fingertips and the satisfaction of a well-kept rhythm and the joy of feeling loud and nearly-frantic but in control. anti sets up his drum kit and his neighbors hate it potentially even more than the screaming or the smells but he doesn't hurt anybody for two months. jack and the other egos assume he's strung out or planning something or fucking some fling into filthy sheets again but really he's doing some in-between-better-thing, in the dedicated self-medicated haze of a long lost loved hobby, shaking out his rage and courting old memories out from hiding and relearning how to rein himself in and hit. on. beat. and he doesn't mourn for his lack of a heartbeat so much when he's creating new ones.

two months in and it gets bad and he hurts someone again and that's when he decides to learn more instruments. first he tries electric guitar but then he misses the aspect of setting a song's anchor and switches to a bass and forgets about the alternative for a long while. but it's smaller and softer in its own way and frustrates him and it loses its viability as an outlet again- he realizes this with his head hanging over the edge of a toilet after he gets angry at jack and drinks himself as close to the grave as he can get again. so he relapses into all the old habits and then he goes drinking at a different place and the music is live and loud and oh, the fiddle, it sounds just like a wail or a scream but heartier, spirited. it's like a kid friend's delighted shrieks on the swings, though it curls into darker whines when need be, blood in gravel below the play set. singing is gutting neck to navel and drums are a swift kick to the ribs and guitar is a shock down the spine and bass is claws wrapped around a thrashing thing's throat but the fiddle is a carving game, that soothing practice that makes him sigh so soft and slow and lets him make a piercing agonizing mess then wipe away the stain. and sweetest of all, it meets him mealla

he learns harmonica from another busker. he likes that he can bring it anywhere - sometimes to his victims, limp from agony and exhaustion, tied at his feet; he pulls out some shining thing and through the tears the fear of god hits them with the glint, expecting a new tool or toy to pierce them with. all for anti to bring it to his lips and lull them to sleep with a song and some blood loss. one night one of those victims glances up at his green clothes and his pointed ears and his oddly wondering eyes and his wind instrument pressed up against his gap tooth, and they smile through their own stupor to tell him he should try the pan pipes someday
