Took the cottage core shot off my dreams today 🍃
For me, it’s almost as if every trip to a waterfall washes away all of my pent up negative energy. It allows me to release. There’s something about getting my feet wet and watching as the water infinitely carves into the Earth. I ground every day in my garden but even that doesn’t equate to the magic I feel surrounding waterfalls.
I visited my first one back in 2014, in Helen Ga. At the time I was living friends house to friends house. Also spending a lot of time with my birth mom, for the first time since I was a child. It was a time of discovery, a change from my very sheltered suburban life. I took the trip with my birth mom, step dad and two of my brothers. Seeing that waterfall was mesmerizing. I remember just staring, awe struck.
Living in the suburbs, I only ever thought waterfalls existed in beautiful wonderful tropical places. Far far away from the United States. I grew up going to neighborhood parks. I knew nothing of nature trails until I was 18. I honestly knew nothing of who who I was until I was 18, and left my fathers house. I discovered a lot about myself. Like a love to be outside. I love to take photos. I am quite honestly, to the core, completely different from the people I was raised around. I found peace and happiness among camping, gardening, hiking and nature watching. I fell in love with capturing the beauty of the world around me.
My first ever waterfall photo March 2014 - Most recent April 2021
I guess I’m just reflecting on the start of my love for nature. I think find myself remembering why I fell in love with the outdoors, around this time every year.
Today was my first mini session!! I started my photography business about a month ago, and since then I’ve taken on a few families for portraits! Today marks the start of weekends full of photoshoots!! I’m seriously so happy. And so proud of myself for getting here.
Thanks to this beautiful little darling for helping me show off my new tattoo 🦋✨✨✨
